The Mg isotopic compositions of siliciclastic components(δ^(26)Mg_(sili))of sediments and sedimentary rocks have been commonly used to constrain the intensity of continental weathering,based on observations of,(1)an upward enrichment of26Mg in modern weathering profiles,(2)preferential uptake of26Mg in soil clays,and(3)general positive correlations between weathering intensities andδ^(26)Mg_(sili)***,not all weathering profiles display an upward increase ofδ^(26)Mg_(sili),and not all soil clays enrich in26Mg,complicating the interpretations ofδ^(26)Mg_(sili)data of sediments and sedimentary *** further explore the controls ofδ^(26)Mg_(sili)of sediments and sedimentary rocks,here we measuredδ^(26)Mg_(sili),mineralogical compositions and major element compositions of deep sea sediments from South China Sea(SCS)and carbonate rock samples from two late Paleozoic sections in South *** samples show decreasing trends of both normalized Mg concentration(Mgnorm)andδ^(26)Mg_(sili)values with the increase of weathering intensity,while SCS sediments samples do not show any correlation between Mgnormorδ^(26)Mg_(sili)values and weathering intensity.A three-stages weathering model is developed to explain the observed Mgnorm andδ^(26)Mg_(sili)*** the new model,weathering can be divided into three stages,(1)the preliminary weathering stage characterized by dissolution of primary minerals and formation of secondary clay minerals in saprolite,(2)the transitional stage with massive vermiculite and chlorite formation on the bottom of soil,and(3)the advanced stage showing dissolution of vermiculite and chlorite in the top of *** new model explains anδ^(26)Mg_(sili)increase and Mgnormdecrease with an increase weathering intensity in preliminary weathering stage and decrease of Mgnormandδ^(26)Mg_(sili)with increase weathering intensity in advanced weathering *** revised weathering model warrants the application of Mg isotope in the study of contin

Major volcanic eruptions(MVEs)have attracted increasing attention from the scientific *** studies have explored the climatic impact of MVEs over the past two ***,proxy-based reconstructions and climate model simulations indicate divergent responses of global and China’s regional climates to ***,we used multiple data from observations,reconstructions,simulations,and assimilations to summarize the historical facts of MVEs,the characteristics and mechanisms of their climatic impact,and directions for future *** reviewed volcanic datasets and determined intensive MVE periods;these periods corresponded to the years 530–700,1200‒1460,and 1600‒1840 *** tropical MVEs,a substantial cooling effect is observed throughout the globe and China on the interannual-interdecadal time scales but an inconsistent cooling magnitude is detected between reconstructions and *** the first summer after tropical MVEs,a decrease in global and monsoonal precipitation is *** reconstructions and simulations,an increased precipitation is seen for the Yangtze River Basin,while large uncertainties in precipitation changes are present for other regions of *** drought can be induced by frequent eruptions and volcanism superimposed on low solar irradiation and internal *** affect climate directly through the radiative effect and indirectly by modulating internal variability,such as the El Niño‒Southern Oscillation(ENSO)and Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO).However,changes in the phase,amplitude,and periodicity of ENSO and AMO after MVEs and the associated mechanisms remain controversial,which could account for model-reconstruction ***,other internal variability,uncertainties in reconstruction methods and aerosol‒climate models,and climate background may also induce model-reconstruction *** gaps and directions for future research are also discussed.

Establishing a pre-metastatic niche(PMN)in secondary organs is a prerequisite for cancer *** advances in cancer therapy,the efficient inhibition of PMN formation remains a clinical *** advances in understanding the specific characteristics of PMN and advances in nanotechnology have provided hope for manipulating their microenvironments.A series of nanostrategies have been designed to eliminate the PMN,including the removal of pro-metastatic exosomes from the bloodstream for excretion via the intestines,the targeting and scavenging of myeloid-derived suppressor cells,fibroblasts,and critical extracellular matrix components,and the elimination of circulating tumor cells prior to colonization in distant *** review summarizes the underlying mechanisms of PMN formation,highlights the anti-PMN efficacy of currently reported nanostrategies,and underlines the unresolved questions.

Warming and increased precipitation alter soil carbon cycling in a temperate desert steppe of Inner Mongolia

Warming and precipitation are key global change factors driving soil carbon(C)dynamics in terrestrial ***,the effects of warming and altered precipitation on soil microbial diversity and functional genes involved in soil C cycling remain largely *** investigated the effects of warming and increased precipitation on soil C cycling in a temperate desert steppe of Inner Mongolia using metagenomic *** found that warming reduced plant richness,Shannon-Wiener and Simpson *** contrast,increased precipitation signifcantly infuenced Shannon-Wiener and Simpson *** reduced soil microbial species by 5.4%while increased precipitation and warming combined with increased precipitation led to increases in soil microbial species by 23.3%and 2.7%,*** relative abundance of Proteobacteria,which involve C cycling genes,was signifcantly increased by warming and increased *** signifcantly reduced the abundance of GAPDH(Calvin cycle)and celF(cellulose degradation)while it enhanced the abundance of glxR(lignin degradation).Increased precipitation signifcantly enhanced the abundance of pgk(Calvin cycle),coxL(carbon monoxide oxidation),malZ(starch degradation),and mttB(methane production).Moreover,a wide range of correlations among soil properties and C cycling functional genes was detected,suggesting the synergistic and/or antagonistic relationships under scenario of global *** results may suggest that warming is benefcial to soil C storage while increased precipitation negatively affects soil C *** fndings provide a new perspective for understanding the response of microbial communities to warming and increased precipitation in the temperate desert steppe.

GJB2 gene mutations are the most common causes of autosomal recessive non-syndromic hereditary *** individuals suffering from severe to profound GJB2-related deafness,cochlear implants have emerged as the sole remedy for auditory *** previous studies have highlighted the crucial role of preserving cochlear neural components in achieving favorable outcomes after cochlear ***,we generated a conditional knockout mouse model(Cx26-CKO)in which Cx26 was completely deleted in the cochlear supporting cells driven by the Sox2 *** Cx26-CKO mice showed severe hearing loss and massive loss of hair cells and Deiter’s cells,which represented the extreme form of human deafness caused by GJB2 gene *** addition,multiple pathological changes in the peripheral auditory nervous system were found,including abnormal innervation,demyelination,and degeneration of spiral ganglion neurons as well as disruption of heminodes in Cx26-CKO *** findings provide invaluable insights into the deafness mechanism and the treatment for severe deafness in Cx26-null mice.

Carbon dot-based artificial light-harvesting systems with sequential energy transfer and white light emission for photocatalysis

In this work, we designed and synthesized cationic carbon dots(CDs) with a size distribution of 1.6–3.7 nm, which exhibited dark blue fluorescence in the aqueous solution. Based on its excellent luminescence properties, we used it as an energy donor to construct a sequential artificial light-harvesting system(LHS) by employing the energy-matching dyes eosin Y disodium salt(EY) and sulforhodamine101(SR101), which could regulate the white light emission(Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage(CIE) coordinate:(0.30, 0.31)) with the energy transfer efficiency(ΦET) of 53.9% and 20.0%. Moreover, a single-step artificial LHS with white light emission(0.32, 0.28) can be constructed directly using CDs and dye solvent 43(SR) with ΦETand antenna effect(AE) of 48.8% and 6.5, respectively. More importantly,CDs-based artificial LHSs were firstly used in photocatalytic of α-bromoacetophenone, with a yield of90%. This work not only provides a new strategy for constructing CDs-based LHSs, but also opens up a new application for further applying the energy harvested in CDs-based LHSs to the field of the aqueous solution photocatalysis.

Design and test of the key components for a combing-type tobacco harvester

In response to the problems of low efficiency,high labor intensity,and low mechanization in manual tobacco harvesting,a comb-off tobacco picking device for southern hilly tobacco areas was designed following the agronomic requirements and the principle of manual picking of tobacco harvesting in southern *** device was composed of the power chassis,picking mechanism,and storage *** study involved the theoretical analysis,structural design,and modeling of the key components,such as chassis structure,combing-type picking mechanism,and power synchronization *** results of the motion analysis and calculation of the picking process demonstrated that the adjustment range of the comb chain elevation angles was from 12.4°to 20.9°,the comb rod installation distance was 76.2 mm,and the synchronizing mechanism transmission ratio was 3:***-factor test and three-factor three-level orthogonal test was performed with the forward speed of the chassis,the distance between the picking device baffles and the elevation angle of the chain with the combing bar as test factors,and the rate of broken and missed tobacco picking as evaluation *** was revealed that the optimal combination of the forward speed of the chassis,the distance between the baffles,and the chain elevation angle were 1.5 km/h,75 mm,and 12.4°,***,verification tests suggested that the breakage rate of tobacco leaves was 9.99%,and the probability of missed tobacco picking was 7.31%,both of which satisfy the agriculture requirements and the operational requirements in the agricultural machinery certification syllabus.

Bismuth(Bi),as an alloy-based anode material,has attracted much atte ntion in the developme nt of sodiumion hybrid capacitors(SIHCs)due to its high theoretical ***,the volume expansion of the Bi-based anode during the sodiation/desodiation process results in limited rate *** the present work,a porous Bi-based composite was constructed by a one-step hydrothermal method,and Bi was encapsulated in ligninderived nitrogen-doped porous carbon(Bi@LNPC)after *** obtained Bi nanoparticles could effectively adapt to the strain and shorten the diffusion distance of Na^(+).In addition,porous carbon skeleton provides a rigid conductive network for electronic ***,the assembled sodium-ion half-cell with Bi@LNPC anode shows ultra-high-rate *** the current density was enhanced from 0.1 to 50 A·g^(-1),the specific capacity decreased slightly from 351.5 to 342.8 mAh·g^(-1).Even at an extremely high current density of 200 A·g^(-1),it retains 81.3%capacity retention when compared to a current density of 1 A·g^(-1).The SIHCs assembled by Bi@LNPC show a high energy density of 63 Wh·kg^(-1).This work provides an effective method for developing high-rate Bi anode materials for sodium-ion hybrid capacitors(SIHCs)and sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).
