Structural parameters and molecular model of Shendong subbituminous coal

Coal has a highly complex chemical structure, similar to polymers, coal is a macromolecular structure composed of a large number of "similar compounds", which is called the basic structural unit. Understanding coal structure is the basis of its transformation and utilization. Shendong (SD) coal was analyzed by FTIR, XRD, XPS, and NMR. The results show that SD coal normalized structure formula is C 100 H 68.5 O 35.7 N 1.2 S 0.2 and the average number of aromatic rings is 1.98.-CH2- content accounts for about 82% in aliphatic C-H region, and the ratio of ether bond C-O, aromatic ether C-O and C=O is about 2:1:11 in oxygen-containing functional group region. The d 002 , L C , L a and N C of SD coal micro- crystalline structure parameters are 0.1832 nm, 1.4688 nm, 2.0852 nm and 9.017, respectively. Aromatic carbon and aliphatic carbon ratios of SD coal are 55.67% and 29.97%, aromatic cluster size and average methylene chain length are 0.224 and 1.817. Based on these structural parameters, molecular model of SD coal was constructed with 13 C SSNMR experimental spectra as a reference. A two-photon fluorescent probe TPZn was developed for specific ratiometric imaging Zn2＋ in living cells and tissues. Significant ratiometric fluorescence change was based on photoinduced electron transfer and intramolecular charge transfer. The synthetic method of TPZn was simple. It was successfully used to selectively image Zn2＋ based on the higher binding affinity for Zn2＋ than for Cd2＋. TPZn was easily loaded into the living cell and tissues with high membrane permeability in a complex biological environment. TPZn could clearly visualize endogenous Zn2＋ by TP ratiometric imaging in hippocampal slices at a depth of 120 μm. Thus, TPZn is a useful tool to image of Zn2＋ in living cells and tissues without interference from Cd2＋.

Density functional theory calculations were carried out to investigate the influence of doping transition metal(TM) ions into the ceria surface on the activation of surface lattice oxygen atoms. For this purpose, the structure and stability of the most stable(111) surface termination of CeO2 modified by TM ions was determined. Except for Zr and Pt dopants that preserve octahedral oxygen coordination, the TM dopants prefer a square-planar coordination when substituting the surface Ce ions. The surface construction from octahedral to square-planar is facile for all TM dopants, except for Pt(1.14 e V) and Zr(square-planar coordination unstable). Typically, the ionic radius of tetravalent TM cations is much smaller than that of Ce4+, resulting a significant tensile-strained lattice and explaining the lowered oxygen vacancy formation energy. Except for Zr, the square-planar structure is the preferred one when one oxygen vacancy is created. Thermodynamic analysis shows that TM-doped CeO2 surfaces contain oxygen defects under typical conditions of environmental catalysis. A case of practical importance is the facile lattice oxygen activation in Zr-doped CeO2(111), which benefits CO oxidation. The findings emphasize the origin of lattice oxygen activation and the preferred location of TM dopants in TM-ceria solid solution catalysts.

According to recommended conditions two bio-samples, tea leave and flour, are prepared with different methods: grounding into powder and reducing to ash, then they were analyzed by γ ray spectrometry. Remarkable difference was shown between the measured values of tea samples prepared with these different methods. One of the reasons may be that the method of reducing to ash makes some nuclides lost. Compared with the "non-destructive" method of grounding into powder, the method of reducing to ash can be much more sensible to the loss of some nuclides. The probable reasons are discussed for the varied influences of different preparation methods of tea leave and flour samples.
