Genetic variability of half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossus semilaevis populations using microsatellite markers

Ten highly variable microsatellite loci were performed in order to evaluate the genetic variability of wild and hatchery samples of half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossu＇s semilaevis. A group of 2.0 genotypes belonging to four wild samples, Laizhou （LZ）, Weihai （WH）, qingdao （QD）, Rizhao （RZ） and one hatchery sample, Mingbo （MB）, were screened. All of the： ten microsatellite loci screened in this study showed marked polymorphism. A total of 70 different alleles were observed over all loci. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 4.2.to 1006 the average of expected and observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.67 to 0.82. and from 0：77 to0.87 respectively. A total of 10, 16, 10, 11 and 5 unique alleles each were found in LZ, WH~ QD：RZ and MB populations. The effective number of alleles varied from 2.87 for HSTS_7 to 6.83.for HSTS_h. The number of average genotypes ranged from 6.0 for HSTS a to 15.4 for HSTS_h： As compared with the wild populations, the hatchery population, MB, showed significant genetic changes such as fewer alleles per locus （P〈0.05）, a smaller number of low frequency alleles （P〈0.05）, a small number of unique alleles and a small number of genotypes （P〈0.05）, all indicative of a reduction in genetic diversity.

In this paper a three-dimensional tidal current model has been used toexamine variations of local fluid field due to establishment of a dam. By imputing ten tides-K_1,O_1, P_1 , Q_1, M_2. S_2. N_2. K_2., S_a and S_(sa) through the open boundary of the Bohai straitand adopting 5′ x 5′ horizontal resolution the whole fluid field of the Bohai Sea was firstsimulated. The computed harmonic constants of m_1 and M_2.tides at seventeen observational stationsalong the coast of the Bohai Sea matched the observed values rather well. Taking the calculatednumerical results as open boundary conditions, the local fluid field in the Kendong Oil Field bymeans of 1′ x 1′ horizontal resolution was then investigated. In the course of calculation, finegrids were embedded in coarse grids so as to enhance the computational order. In addition, thelatest water-depth data of the Huanghe Delta coast area were adopted, thus topographic changesbecause of silt sediment in that region wouldn''t affect the computed results. In the end, byanalyzing the relative changes of the fluid field before and after the dam was established, that theeffect on the dynamic environment of the local sea area mainly concentrated on the adjacentpositions north and south of the dam was suggested.

A new species, Nassarius （Zeuxis） humeratus n. sp. of Nassariidae was described based on the specimens collected in the Huanghai Sea （Yellow Sea） and Bohai Sea during the expedition from 1958 to 1959. The new species was distinguished from similar species Nassarius （Zeuxis） bolangoi （Ladd, 1976） and Nassarius （Varicinassa） variciferus （A. Adams, 1852. in shell characteristics. Some relative discussion was provided. The new species mainly distributes in the subtidal zone of 3.–53.m depth, in muddy and sandy bottom in the Bohai Sea and northern Huanghai Sea.

The achievement progresses of investigation and studies on marine hazardous geology are summarized and presentsd in the late 2. century in China. The importance, research value and present-day studies of marine hazardous geology, a newly developing branch of geoscience, are well expatiated. Several often confused concepts and theories are explained and redefined here. The comment on the means of investigations, assessment of marine hazardous geology, as well as its evolution, innovation, existing questions and future tasks are also introduced and presented. The concepts of 'hazard geology', geohazard', 'map of marine hazard geology', 'integrated evaluaton on seafloor stablity' are respectively discussed, including their definition, research objects, methods and contents. The types and classification of marine hazardous geology, principles and methods of marine hazardous geology map compilation, the assessment methods and models of marine hazardous geology environment and seafloor stability and so on are also discussed.

The relationship between desert evolution and change in albedo has been investigated quasi-analytically using a zonal mean two-dimensional energy balance model which considers the radiation transmission process due to thermodynamics and bound- ary layer movement caused by kinetics. A climate state including temperature, zonal wind, meridional wind and vertical wind can be simulated according to the current zonal distribution of albedo. Given desert distribution, characterized by the value and distribution of albedo, the response of climate on albedo has been studied to analyze the evolution of desert climate. One significant result is that the simple model can reproduce mean meridional circulation. Another result indicates that climate corresponds to two equilibria. This happens when the junction temperature between vegetation and desert is higher than a certain critical value. As for the first equilibrium, the desert belt is predicted to move southward in the northern hemisphere with the increasing values of albedo, which corresponds to the current trend of climate change. For the second equilibrium, vegetation will expand northward with increasing values of albedo, which would indicate a narrowing of the desert belt. In order to determine if the two equilibria exist, new physical models are needed.

This paper presents the background value of Pb content in soils from Wuhan,Lanzhou,Changchun andqingdao cities in China,the soils were contaminated by either of smelter,automo- bile,chemical industries,and traffic road. The degree of Pb pollution in the four cities is different,Wuhan >qingdao > Changchun>Lanzhou. The heavier pollution is where it is nearer to the pollution source. The Pb pollution in Wuhan,qingdao and Changchun is similar to that of Ber- mingham.

Based on in-situ time series data from the acoustic Doppler current profiler （ADCP） and thermistor chain in Wenchang area, a sequence of internal solitary wave （ISW） packets was observed in September 2.05, propagating northwest on the continental shelf of the northwestern South China Sea （SCS）. Corresponding to different stratification of the water column and tidal condition, both elevation and depression ISWs were observed at the same mooring location with amplitude of 3. m and 2. m respectively in different days. Regular arrival of the remarkable ISW packets at approximately the diurnal tidal period and the dominance of diurnal internal waves in the study area, strongly suggest that the main energy source of the waves is the diurnal tide. Notice that the wave packets were all riding on the troughs and shoulders of the internal tides, they were probably generated locally from the shelf break by the evolution of the internal tides due to nonlinear and dispersive effects.

This paper presents a high-resolution (2.X2.) numerical model of coastalcoupled wave-current interaction with explicit consideration of the effects of wave-currentinteraction on bottom stress. For two selected storms with measured data in the Yellow River coastalarea of the Bohai Sea, it is shown that the bottom stress calculated by using a coupledwave-current model is increased, as one would expect, compared with the bottom stress computed withan uncoupled current model. Moreover, the current velocity field is also changed, but thecorresponding current directions show less influence in the two simulations. The extents of changesin bottom stress and current velocity vary with storm intensities. The results further imply thatthe coupled wave-current model should be used as the basis for simulating the current velocity andsea level in the near shore region.

Based on regional compensation and experimental isostasy, the calculating formula of theoretical isostatic response function is deduced when the loads on top correlate with loads from below. A variety of curves of theoretical isostatic response function were calculated with different effective elastic thickness of the plate and by using different proportions between loads on top and loads from below. And preliminary discussion is made on shapes of the curves.
