Uniform flower-like TiO2 coated Au nanostars and core-shell Au@Ag nanostars with different amounts of Ag coating were prepared through a facile method by hydrolysis of TiF4 under an acidic environment. The photocatalytic capability of these flower-like nanocomposites under visible light irradiation was found to be enhanced by up to 4.7-fold compared to commercial P25 TiO2 nanoparticles. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was ascribed to improved light absorption and hot electron inj ection from the photo-excited Au@Ag core to the TiO2 shell.

The crystal structure of D-valine has been determined by Mo-Ka (l = 0.71073 ? X-ray diffraction method for the first time. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21 (Z = 4) with a = 9.6728(5), b = 5.2722(3), c = 12.0425(8) ? = 90.750(2)?at 293 K. The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent molecules A (trans form) and B (gauche I form). They are rotational isomers with two kinds of conformations about the Ca Cb bond. The results of measurements of crystal structure at 293, 270, 223 and 173 K show a little change in bond lengths and geometries as a function of temperature. No evidence was obtained for the existence of configuration transformation from D- to L-valine.

The control mechanism of mechanical bone remodeling at cellular level was investigated by means of an extensive parametric study on a theoretical model described in this paper. From a perspective of control mechanism, it was found that there are several control mechanisms working simultaneously in bone remodeling which is a complex process. Typically, an extensive parametric study was carried out for investigating model parameter space related to cell differentiation and apoptosis which can describe the fundamental cell lineage behaviors. After analyzing all the combinations of 728 permutations in six model parameters, we have identified a small number of parameter combinations that can lead to physiologically realistic responses which are similar to theoretically idealized physiological responses. The results presented in the work enhanced our understanding on mechanical bone remodeling and the identified control mechanisms can help researchers to develop combined pharmacological-mechanical therapies to treat bone loss diseases such as osteoporosis.

In this study, a targeting micellar drug delivery system was developed for intravesical instilled chemotherapy of bladder cancer. The amphiphilic diblock copolymer poly（？-caprolactone）-block-poly（ethylene glycol）（PCL-b-PEO） with functional amino group（NH2） at the end of PEO block was synthesized. Then the copolymer was conjugated with folic acid（FA） and fluorescein isothiocyannate（FITC） via the PEO-NH2 terminus, and then assembled into micelles with the target moiety and fluorescence labeling. In addition, drug loaded micelles were also fabricated with anticancer drug doxorubicin（DOX） encapsulated in the hydrophobic core. The micelles were characterized in terms of size, drug loaded efficiency and critical micellization concentration（CMC） by means of DLS, UV and fluorescence spectra. In vitro cellular uptake and cytotoxicity studies showed that FA modified PCL-b-PEO-FA micelles have a greater targeting efficiency to human bladder cancer cell（T-24 cell） compared to PCL-b-PEO-NH2 micelles due to the conjugation of FA on the surface, while no targeting effect to normal tissue originated human embryonic kidney 293（HEK-293） cells was observed, enabling the micelles a promising drug carrier for intravesical instilled chemotherapy of bladder cancer.

AIM:To investigate the prevalence,risk factors,and clinicopathologic characteristics of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)in young ***:A retrospective analysis was performed in ICC patients referred to the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital in Shanghai,*** 317 consecutively enrolled patients,40 patients were aged ≤40 years(12.61%).We compared the risk factors and clinicopathologic characteristics of these patients(groupⅠ:n=40)with those aged>40 years(group Ⅱ:n=277).RESULTS:Group I had distinct features compared with groupⅡ,including a low frequency of hepatolithiasis(P=0.000);a high positive rate of serum hepatitis B surface antigen(P=0.000)and hepatitis B virus(HBV)associated cirrhosis(P=0.038);a high frequency ofα-fetoprotein(>400μg/L)(P=0.011);a low frequency of carbohydrate antigen 19-9(>37 U/mL)(P=0.017);and a high frequency of liver histological inflammation(P=0.002).Although there was no significant difference between the two groups in regards to hepatic schistosomiasis,alcohol-associated cirrhosis and cirrhosis due to other causes(P>0.05),they only occurred in the elderly ***:The risk factors are significantly different between young and elderly ICC *** and HBV-associated cirrhosis are the most important risk factors for young ICC patients.
