Prognostic value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio for hepatocellular carcinoma patients with portal/hepatic vein tumor thrombosis

AIM To investigate whether the preoperative neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio(NLR) could predict the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients with portal/hepatic vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT/HVTT) after *** The study population included 81 HCC patients who underwent hepatectomy and were diagnosed with PVTT/HVTT based on pathological examination. An NLR > 2.9 was identified as an independent predictor of a poor prognosis of OS(P = 0.034, HR = 1.866; 95%CI: 1.048-3.322) in uni-and multivariate analyses. Moreover, there was a significantly positive correlation between the NLR and the Child-Pugh score(r = 0.276, P = 0.015) and the maximum diameter of the tumor(r = 0.435, P 2.9 indicates poorer OS and DFS.

The coronavirus disease 2019（COVID-19） outbreak caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2（SARS-CoV-2） developed into a global health emergency. Systemic microthrombus caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection is a common complication in patients with COVID-19. Cardiac microthrombosis as a complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection is the primary cause of cardiac injury and death in patietns with severe COVID-19. In this study, we performed single-cell sequencing analysis of the right ventricular free wall tissue from healthy donors,patients who died during the hypercoagulable period of characteristic coagulation abnormality（CAC）, and patients who died during the fibrinolytic period of CAC. We collected 61,187 cells enriched in 24 immune cell subsets and 13 cardiac-resident cell subsets. We found that in the course of SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, MYO1EhighRASGEF1Bhighmonocyte-derived macrophages promoted hyperactivation of the immune system and initiated the extrinsic coagulation pathway by activating chemokines CCL3, CCL5. This series of events is the main cause of cardiac microthrombi following SARS-CoV-2 infection. In a SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, excessive immune activation is accompanied by an increase in cellular iron content, which in turn promotes oxidative stress and intensifies intercellular competition. This induces cells to alter their metabolic environment, resulting in increased sugar uptake via the glycosaminoglycan synthesis pathway. In addition, high levels of reactive oxygen species generated by elevated iron levels promote increased endogenous malondialdehyde synthesis in a subpopulation of cardiac endothelial cells. This exacerbates endothelial cell dysfunction and exacerbates the coagulopathy process.

An Enhanced Dual-Layer Ensemble Framework for Porosity Prediction Utilizing Conventional Well Logging Data

Porosity is the one of the most fundamental and critical parameters for reservoir characterization and is closely related to the hydrocarbon storage capacity. The interpretation methods of conventional well logs have poor generalization capabilities to achieve the desired accuracy in porosity prediction. The increasing adoption of machine learning has ameliorated this predicament to some extent， but it remains difficult to reconstruct the complex and nonlinear relationship between logging responses and porosity by relying on individual machine learning models alone. This work proposes a two-layer model ensemble framework to predicte porosity， which includes base regressors in the first layer and meta regressor in the second layer. The results indicate that the Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) - Categorical-Features Gradient Boosting (CatBoost) ensemble model provides the highest prediction accuracy for the given dataset and is applied for porosity evaluation at other logged depths. This work also points out that the base regressor should be accurate and complex， while the structure of the meta-regressor should be simple in order to achieve the desired performance. Furthermore， the proposed model ensemble framework is versatile and applicable to reservoir evaluation， engineering development， and other potential fields due to its effectiveness and convenience.

Plasmonic tandem heterojunctions enable high-efficiency charge transfer for broad spectrum photocatalytic hydrogen production

Rational engineering of semiconductor photocatalysts for efficient hydrogen production is of great significance but still challenging,primarily due to the limitations in charge transfer ***,a fascinating plasmonic tandem heterojunction with the hc-CdS/Mo2C@C heterostructure is aimfully prepared for effectively promoting the charge separation kinetics of the CdS photocatalyst via the synergistic strategy of phase junction,Schottky junction,and photothermal *** difference in atomic configuration between cubic-CdS （c-CdS） and hexagonal-CdS （h-CdS） leads to effective charge separation through a typical Ⅱ charge transfer mechanism,and plasmonic Schottky junction further extracts the electrons in the hc-CdS phase junction to realize gradient charge ***,the photothermal effect of Mo2C@C helps to expand the light absorption,accelerate charge transfer kinetics,and reduce the hydrogen evolution energy *** carbon layer provides a fast channel for charge transfer and protects the photocatalyst from *** a result,the optimized hc-CMC photocatalyst exhibits a significantly high photocatalytic H2production activity of 28.63 mmol/g/h and apparent quantum efficiency of 61.8%,surpassing most of the reported *** study provides a feasible strategy to enhance the charge transfer kinetics and photocatalytic activity of CdS by constructing plasmonic tandem heterogeneous junctions.

Formation and evolution of supercritical geofluid

In this work, we provide a comprehensive review on the formation, evolution, properties, and effects of supercritical geofluid. In Earth's interior, enhanced miscibility between H2O and silicate by the addition of special components or by the increase of pressure and temperature gives rise to supercritical geofluid with a significant amount of both H2O and silicate *** formation of supercritical geofluid in magmatic-hydrothermal systems, typified by pegmatite system, is governed by meltfluid critical curve. The formation of supercritical geofluid in metamorphic systems, typified by subducted slab, is governed by the second critical end point. Experimental results suggest that the presence of boron and fluorine in pegmatite system makes it possible to form supercritical geofluid at crustal depths, but the release of supercritical geofluid from subducted slab is withheld until almost 100 km depth. A major presence of both H2O and depolymerized structural units（monomers, dimers, etc.） endows supercritical geofluid with unique physical properties including low density, low elastic moduli, low viscosity, high diffusivity,and high electrical conductivity. Supercritical geofluid can effectively mobilize a variety of elements even including high field strength elements and heavy rare earth elements. The chemical signatures of supercritical geofluid can be inherited by metasomatized mantle and mantle-derived melts, and this could give an explanation of the oxidation of arc magmas. Phase separation of supercritical geofluid through the mechanism of spinodal decomposition leads to formation of a melt network. Multiphase fluid inclusions recovered from subduction zone rocks and pegmatites are possible relics of supercritical geofluid. Supercritical geofluid can cause electrical anomaly and low seismic velocity near the top of subducted slab, and can be linked with intermediate-focus earthquakes. The pervasive issue of chromium（VI） contamination,particularly in dichromate (Cr2O2-7),resulting from unchecked industrial growth and inadequate waste management,remains a pressing concern that demands immediate and dedicated ***,we present two novel imidazolium-based ionic polymers （ImIPs）.The ImIPs boast a highly cationic structure rich in bromide（Br-） ions and exhibit remarkable porosity,facilitating the easy exchange of these ions for chromate (Cr2O2-7) through anion *** unique combination leads to exceptional performance,including a high adsorption capacity （423 mg/g）,rapid adsorption rate (75 mg g-1min-1),and a broad operational pH range （2–12）.Moreover,our material demonstrates remarkable reusability,maintaining its efficacy even after 10 cycles without significant loss of *** mechanistic studies underscore the role of ion-exchange chemistry in effectively removing dichromate by the presented ImIPs,providing strong evidence for their suitability as a robust solution to address the ongoing challenges in water *** findings represent a crucial step in developing advanced materials for tackling chromium（VI） pollution.

背景与目的新辅助放化疗后手术被推荐为局部晚期直肠癌的标准治疗方案,可降低局部复发但对远处转移无效。所以加强系统治疗是降低远处转移风险的必要措施。本研究旨在评价奥沙利铂和卡培他滨(XELOX)联合贝伐单抗加放疗的新辅助方案治疗局部晚期直肠癌的安全性和有效性。方法Ⅱ至Ⅲ期直肠癌患者接受1个疗程的诱导化疗及XELOX加贝伐单抗的同步放化疗。放疗结束后6–8周行手术治疗,并进行3个疗程XELOX和2个疗程卡培他滨的术后化疗。本研究的主要终点是病理学完全缓解(pathologic complete response,pCR)率和安全性,次要终点为3年总生存和无进展生存。结果 2013年2月至2015年4月间招募了45例患者。所有患者均完成了新辅助治疗。7例患者(15.6%)因个人原因拒绝了后续手术治疗,其余38例患者接受了根治性切除术,括约肌保留率为84.2%,pCR率为39.5%。毒性是可接受的,分别在6例和2例患者中观察到3–4级血液学毒性和腹泻。需要手术干预的吻合口瘘的发生率为13.3%。中位随访37个月后,5例患者出现疾病进展,2例患者因癌症死亡。3年总生存率和3年无进展生存率分别为95.3%和88.6%。结论增加贝伐单抗至新辅助放化疗中获得了令人满意的pCR率和3年生存率,但也增加了吻合口瘘的风险,因此该方案不宜作为局部晚期直肠癌的常规推荐方案。
