This study focused on the preparation of magnetic chitusan nanocompesite that has a potential application to bone repair and regeneration using an in situ composite method where chitosan membrane was used as the template and NaOH was used as the precipitant. X-ray diffraction analysis results show the formation of magnetite in the chitosan matrix. From the magnetic measurement, it could be concluded that the magnetic chitosan rods were superparamagnetic,and that this is the unique property of nanomagnetite. Macroscopical layer structure of the magnetic chitosan rods was observed from the photographs after mechanical test, and the microlayer structure of the rods was observed from the images of scanning electron microscopy. The mechanism for preparing the rods was discussed in detail. Transmission electron microscope was used to investigate the magnetite particles in the chitosan matrix and from the images it was concluded that the magnetite particles dispersed well in chitosan matrix with particle size of about 10 nm. The mechanical properties of the magnetic chitosan rods were measured and the blending strength was found to be 98. 8 MPa. The mechanical properties did not decline when compared with those of the pure chitosan materials.

Objective:To study the effect of sitagliptin on adipocytokines expression in diabetic rats and its molecular ***:Male SD rats were chosen and randomly divided into NC group,T2DM group,SP group and SP+LY *** group received conventional breeding,T2DM group,SP group and SP+LY group received intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin after 12 weeks of high-fat diet to establish diabetes animal model,SP group received sitagliptin intervention and SP+LY group received sitagliptin combined with PI3 K inhibitor LY294002 intervention.6 weeks after the intervention,serum was collected to determine the levels of biochemical indexes and adipocytokines,and visceral adipose tissue was collected to determine expression levels of ***:Serum TC,TG,LDL-C,FBG,FINS,Leptin and Chemerin levels as well as HOMA-IR of T2DM group were higher than those of NC group,and HDL-C,Adiponectin and Omentin-1 levels were significantly lower than those of NC group; serum TC,TG,LDL-C,FBG,FINS,Leptin and Chemerin levels as well as HOMA-IR of SP group were lower than those of T2DM group,and HDL-C,Adiponectin and Omentin-1 levels were significantly higher than those of T2DM group; Leptin and Chemerin levels in serum and visceral adipose tissue of SP+LY group were higher than those of SP group while Adiponectin and Omentin-1 levels were significantly lower than those of SP ***:Sitagliptin can regulate the expression of adipocytokines in adipose tissue of diabetic rats through PI3K-AKT pathway.

A New Approach to Urban Rainwater Management

Based on an analysis of our research results and the main problems relating to urban rainwater treatment, we propose a new approach to urban rainwater management in China. The necessity and feasibility of such a new approach are discussed. From an ecological point of view all components of the global system, including residents living in cities, have the same right to enjoy rainwater. Therefore, urban rainwater should neither be simply drained as waste water, nor be completely harvested as a kind of resource. The objective of this new approach is to maintain the natural hydrological cycle in urban areas during urbanization. When necessary, it could also be used to regulate the amount of runoff, evaporation and infiltration in a city in order to rehabilitate the hydrological cycle given the local conditions. Three basic principles should be adopted in rainwater management, i.e., separation of rainfall from sewage, limited utilization and small and decentralized facilities. Four methods can be used for urban rainwater management: rainwater harvest, rainwater infiltration, rainwater storage and rainwater pipes. The natural hydrological cycle in urban areas could be rehabilitated through rainwater management, which is of great importance for sustainable development of our cities.

In this study, electrochemical corrosion tests, full-soak corrosion tests and associated microstructure analysis were conducted to investigate the corrosion behaviors of B4C/6061Al neutron absorber composites（NACs） manufactured by powder metallurgy method in solutions having different boric acid（H3BO3） concentrations（500, 2500 and 10,000 ppm）. In electrochemical corrosion tests, B4C/6061Al NACs demonstrate the highest（short-term） corrosion resistance in the 2500 ppm H3BO3 solution. While for full-soak corrosion tests, the B4C/6061Al NACs show the highest（long-term） corrosion resistance in the 500 ppm H3BO3 solution. This difference is found to be mainly due to the formation of different surface morphologies during these two different corrosion tests. As noticed, a layer of Al（OH）3was formed on the composite surface during full-soak corrosion tests, but it cannot be found in the electrochemical corrosion tests. The full-soak corrosion mechanism of the B4C/6061Al NACs in the H3BO3 solution is found to be primarily determined by the dynamic balance between the formation and dissolution rates of the oxide film, which is mainly controlled by the density of H~＋ ions in the solution.

Maize （Zea mays L.） is one of the world’s major food crops, and often suffers from tremendous yield loss caused by abiotic stresses. The MADS-box genes are known to play versatile roles in plants, controlling plant responses to multiple abiotic stresses. However, understanding of regulation of their expressions by the conventional loss-of-function approach is very dififcult. So far, regulation of MADS-box gene expression is little known. The best approach to retrieve expression regulation of this category of genes is to characterize expression of their promoters. In this study, the promoter of a homolog （GenBank accession no. EC864166） of maize MADS-box gene m18 was cloned by way of genome-walking PCR, named Pro66. Predicative analysis indicated that Pro66 contains more than one TATA box and multiple cis-acting environmental conditions-responsive elements （ECREs）. Pro66 could drive expression of theβ-glucuronidase （GUS）-encoding gene in maize, and heterologous expression of GUS in red pepper stressed by water deifcit, salt, copper, iron deifciency, heat, cold, and grown under short and long photoperiods, echoing predicative ECREs. Conclusively, maize MADS-box gene m18 likely plays versatile functions in maize response to multiple abiotic stresses due to the promoter with multiple cis-acting elements. The complex arrangement of multiple cis-acting elements in the promoter features meticulously regulated expression of m18. The results give informative clues for heterologous utilisation of the promoters in monocot and dicot species. The copy of the ECREs and heterologous expression of the promoter in dicot species are also discussed.

Scaling analysis is widely used to design scaled-down experimental facilities through which the prototype phenomena can be effectively *** a new method,dynamic system scaling(DSS)must be verified as a rational and applicable method.A DSS method based on dilation transformation was evaluated using single-phase natural circulation in a simple rectangular *** scaled-down cases were constructed based on two parameters—length ratio and dilation number—and the corresponding transient processes were simulated using the Relap5 computational *** results show that this DSS method can simulate the dynamic flow characteristics of scaled-down *** transient deviation of the temperature difference and mass flow rate of the scaled cases decrease with increases in the length ratio and dilation *** distortion of the transient temperature difference is smaller than that of the mass flow;however,the overall deviation is within a reasonable range.

In this study,a new method was developed to realize two-dimensional(2D)figure correction of grazing-incidence X-ray mirrors using a one-dimensional(1D)ion-beam figuring system.A mask of holes was specifically designed to generate removal functions at different widths and extend the figuring capability over a wide ***,a long mirror could be *** this method,the surface height root-mean-square(RMS)error of the center area of 484 mm×16 mm was reduced from 11.49 nm to 2.01 nm,and the 1D meridional RMS error reached 1.0 *** proposed method exhibits high precision and cost effectiveness for production of long X-ray mirrors.
