In two recent papers,approximate solutions for compact non-axisymmetric contact problems of homogeneous and power-law graded elastic bodies have been suggested,which provide explicit analytical relations for the force–approach relation,the size and the shape of the contact area,as well as for the pressure distribution therein.These solutions were derived for profiles,which only slightly deviate from the axisymmetric shape.In the present paper,they undergo an extensive testing and validation by comparison of solutions with a great variety of profile shapes with numerical solutions obtained by the fast Fourier transform(FFT)-assisted boundary element method(BEM).Examples are given with quite significant deviations from axial symmetry and show surprisingly good agreement with numerical solutions.

To avoid the secondary frequency dip caused by the steep drop of the electrical power of wind turbines(WTs)at the end of frequency support stage,the torque limit-based iner-tial control(TliC)method sets the power reference as a linear function of rotor speed,rather than the step form for the step-wise inertial control.However,the compensation effect on the frequency nadir(FN)caused by the load surge is weakened as the TliC power is no longer in the step form.Specifically,the maximum point of the frequency response component(FRC)contributed by TliC occurs earlier than the minimum point of FRC corresponding to the load surge,so that the FN cannot be adequately raised.Therefore,this paper first investigates the relation between the peak and nadir times of FRCs stimulated by the TliC and load power.On this basis,with the compensation principle of matching the peak and nadir times of FRCs,the improved TliC method based on delayed support is proposed.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated via the experiments on the test bench of wind-integrated power system.

Background Milk synthesis in lactating animals demands high energy metabolism,which results in an increased production of reactive oxygen metabolites(ROM)causing an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants thereby inducing oxidative stress(OS)on the animals.To mitigate OS and postpartum disorders in dairy goats and gain insight into the impact of dietary choices on redox status during lactation,a feeding trial was conducted using alfalfa silage inoculated with a high-antioxidant strain of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum.Methods Twenty-four Guanzhong dairy goats(38.1±1.20 kg)were randomly assigned to two dietary treatments:one containing silage inoculated with L.plantarum MTD/1(RSMTD-1),and the other containing silage inoculated with high antioxidant activity L.plantarum 24-7(ES24-7).Results ES24-7-inoculated silage exhibited better fermentation quality and antioxidant activity compared to RSMTD-1.The ES24-7 diet elevated the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxi-dase(GSH-Px),and catalase(CAT)activities in milk,serum,and feces of lactating goats(with the exception of T-AOC in milk).Additionally,the diet containing ES24-7 inoculated silage enhanced casein yield,milk free fatty acid(FFA)content,and vitamin A level in the goats’milk.Furthermore,an increase of immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgG,IgM,inter-leukin(IL)-4,and IL-10 concentrations were observed,coupled with a reduction in IL-1β,IL-2,IL-6,interferon(IFN)-γ,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αconcentrations in the serum of lactating goats fed ES24-7.Higher concentrations of total volatile fatty acid(VFA),acetate,and propionate were observed in the rumen fluid of dairy goats fed ES24-7 inoculated silage.Moreover,the diet containing ES24-7 inoculated silage significantly upregulated the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2(NFE2L2),beta-carotene oxygenase 1(BCO1),SOD1,SOD2,SOD3,GPX2,CAT,glu-tathione-disulfide reductase(GSR),and heme oxygenase 1(HMOX1)genes in the mammary gland,while decreased the levels of NADPH oxidase 4(NO

Quantitative characterization of fusion state of virgin and aged asphalt using nano-ferrous ferric oxide tracer

The exact evaluation of the fusion rate of virgin and aged asphalt is essential to optimize the performance of the recycled asphalt mixture. The fusion rate index was developed by tracing the distribution of tracer asphalt, which contains nano-ferrous ferric oxide（nano-Fe3O4） tracer. Laboratory fusion simulation tests were performed on three types of asphalt to obtain different fusion states, and fatigue tests were performed to evaluate the influence of the fusion rate on the fatigue life of the recycled asphalt. It was found that the tracer asphalt containing 4% nano-Fe3O4shows the optimal trace effect, and the developed fusion rate index can quantitatively characterize the influence of different factors on the fusion state of the recycled asphalt. The fusion state is closely related to the fatigue performance of recycled asphalt, and the fusion rate index can fairly evaluate its fatigue performance.The relationship between the fusion rate and the fatigue life of recycled asphalt depends on the factors that cause the fusion rate variation. Under the influence of the amount of rejuvenator, the fatigue life of recycled asphalt grows exponentially with increasing fusion rate due to enhancement of molecular motion as well as a supplement of lightweight components. Under the influence of heat preservation treatment, fatigue life increases linearly with increasing fusion rate. The proposed fusion rate index can be utilized to quantitatively characterize the fusion state of virgin and aged asphalt, thus providing a simple way to guide the practical application of recycled asphalt.

With advancements in mobile communication technologies, there have been multiple user device(UD) connections to cellular networks. Because of changes in the spatial distribution of UDs and application requirements, the traditional offloading mechanism based on the nearest distance will result in heavy loads for some base stations(BSs). Because there is a high-order relationship between the energy consumption of the BS processing tasks and the number of computing tasks, the traditional offloading mechanism will result in high energy consumption, and UD’s offloading decision must be dynamically adjusted. The offloading decision of UDs is optimized based on detailed information about various parameters associated with a network from the standpoint of distribution. This information includes details regarding the spatial distribution of UDs,application requirements, and the offloading period of computing tasks. Based on optimal transport theory,an energy consumption optimization algorithm is suggested to lower the total amount of energy consumed by the offloading process of UDs’ computing tasks by reasonably planning the offloading BSs of the UDs in the networks. The simulation results show that the proposed offloading mechanism based on energy consumption optimization reduces the total energy consumption of the offloading process by 28.09% when compared to the traditional offloading mechanism, and the traffic managed by each BS is balanced.

In this article, an unknown system dynamics estimator-based impedance control method is proposed for the lower limb exoskeleton to stimulate the tracking flexibility with the terminal target position when suffering parametric inaccuracies and unexpected disturbances. To reinforce the robust performance, via constructing the filtering operation-based dynamic relation, i.e., invariant manifold, the unknown system dynamics estimators are employed to maintain the accurate perturbation identification in both the hip and knee subsystem. Besides, a funnel control technique is designed to govern the convergence process within a minor overshoot and a higher steady-state precision. Meanwhile, an interactive complaint result can be obtained with the aid of the impedance control, where the prescribed terminal trajectory can be adjusted into the interaction variable-based target position by the force–position mapping, revealing the dynamic influence between the impedance coefficient (stiffness and damping) and the adjusted position magnitude. A sufficient stability analysis verifies the ultimately uniformly bounded results of all the error signals, and even the angle errors can be regulated within the predefined funnel boundary in the whole convergence. Finally, some simulations are provided to demonstrate the validity and superiority including the enhanced interaction flexibility and robustness.

BACKGROUND Immune dysregulation and metabolic derangement have been recognized as key factors that contribute to the progression of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF).However,the mechanisms underlying immune and metabolic derangement in patients with advanced HBV-ACLF are unclear.AIM To identify the bioenergetic alterations in the liver of patients with HBV-ACLF causing hepatic immune dysregulation and metabolic disorders.METHODS liver samples were collected from 16 healthy donors(HDs)and 17 advanced HBV-ACLF patients who were eligible for liver transplantation.The mitochondrial ultrastructure,metabolic characteristics,and immune microenvironment of the liver were assessed.More focus was given to organic acid metabolism as well as the function and subpopulations of macrophages in patients with HBV-ACLF.RESULTS Compared with HDs,there was extensive hepatocyte necrosis,immune cell infiltration,and ductular reaction in patients with ACLF.In patients,the liver suffered severe hypoxia,as evidenced by increased expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α.Swollen mitochondria and cristae were observed in the liver of patients.The number,length,width,and area of mitochondria were adaptively increased in hepatocytes.Targeted metabolomics analysis revealed that mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation decreased,while anaerobic glycolysis was enhanced in patients with HBV-ACLF.These findings suggested that,to a greater extent,hepa-tocytes used the extra-mitochondrial glycolytic pathway as an energy source.Patients with HBV-ACLF had elevated levels of chemokine C-C motif ligand 2 in the liver homogenate,which stimulates peripheral monocyte infiltration into the liver.Characterization and functional analysis of macrophage subsets revealed that patients with ACLF had a high abundance of CD68^(+)HLA-DR^(+)macrophages and elevated levels of both interleukin-1βand transforming growth factor-β1 in their livers.The abundance of CD206^(+)CD163^(+)macrophages and expression of interleukin-10 decreased.Th

In the engineering practices,it is increasingly common to encounter fractured rocks perturbed by temperatures and frequent dynamic loads.In this paper,the dynamic behaviors and fracture characteristics of red sandstone considering temperatures(25℃,200℃,400℃,600℃,and 800℃)and fissure angles(0°,30°,60°,and 90°)were evaluated under constant-amplitude and low-cycle(CALC)impacts actuated by a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)system.Subsequently,fracture morphology and second-order statistics within the grey-level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)were examined using scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Meanwhile,the deep analysis and discussion of the mechanical response were conducted through the synchronous thermal analyzer(STA)test,numerical simulations,one-dimensional stress wave theory,and material structure.The multiple regression models between response variables and interactive effects of independent variables were established using the response surface method(RSM).The results demonstrate the fatigue strength and life diminish as temperatures rise and increase with increasing fissure angles,while the strain rate exhibits an inverse behavior.Furthermore,the peak stress intensification and strain rate softening observed during CALC impact exhibit greater prominence at increased fissure angles.The failure is dominated by tensile damage with concise evolution paths and intergranular cracks as well as the compressor-crushed zone which may affect the failure mode after 400℃.The second-order statistics of GLCM in SEM images exhibit a considerable dependence on the temperatures.Also,thermal damage dominated by thermal properties controls the material structure and wave impedance and eventually affects the incident wave intensity.The tensile wave reflected from the fissure surface is the inherent mechanism responsible for the angle effect exhibited by the fatigue strength and life.Ultimately,the peak stress intensification and strain rate softening during impact are determined by both the material structure and compacti
