The o.do.ician Lao.ushan o.0}io.ite, lo.ated in the eastern p.rt o. the No.th qilian Mo.ntains, is mainly co.p.sed o. meta-p.rido.ites, gabbro. and basalts alternating with sediments. The sediments are mainly turbidites, including sandsto.es, siltsto.es, cherts etc. Majo. elements sho. that the basalts are subalkaline tho.eiites and may be analo.o.s to.o.ean-flo.r basalts. Excep. a few N-Mo.Bs, mo.t o. the basalts are E-Mo.Bs as indicated by inco.p.tible element ratio. such as (La/Ce)N, La/Sm, Ce/Zr, Zr/Y and Zr/Nb. Negative Nb ano.aly is co.mo. but negative Zr, Hf and Ti ano.alies are quite rare. Based o. the geo.hemical characteristics, it is suggested that the Lao.ushan basalts were fo.med in a back-arc basin. ENd (t) o. the basalts ranges between +3.0 and +8.9 and (87Sr/86Sr), ranges between 0.7030 and 0.7060, indicating a dep.eted mantle so.rce which was mixed with mo.e o. less enriched mantle co.p.nents. Furthermo.e, the p.tro.rap.y o. the sandsto.es and geo.hemistry o. the cherts suggest that the sediments were dep.sited near a co.tinental margin.
