Effect of Artificial Cooling Extrusion on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mg–Zn–Y Alloys

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg–Zn–Y alloys with different Zn/Y atomic ratios with or without artificial cooling (AC) extrusion were systematically investigated in this work. The results show that bimodal microstructure consisting of submicron dynamic recrystallized (DRXed) grains with high fraction of low-angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) and elongated unDRXed grains was formed in Mg_(98.7)Zn_(1)Y_(0.3) alloy with AC extrusion. The AC process effectively limits the growth of precipitated phases, and large amount of nanoscale precipitates were dynamically precipitated during the extrusion process. AC extrusion could effectually refine the lamellar 14H LPSO phases and inhibit the transition from stacking faults to LSPO phases in Mg_(98)Zn_(1)Y_(1) alloy and the narrow LPSO phase in Mg_(98)Zn_(1)Y_(1)-AC alloy which could promote the nucleation of DRXed grains. The AC extrusion significantly improves the strength of Mg–Zn–Y alloys. Owing to AC extrusion, the strength improvement of Mg_(98.7)Zn_(1)Y_(0.3) alloy is mainly attributed to fine grain strengthening, dislocation strengthening, and nano-phases precipitation strengthening. After AC process, more fine grains and nano-phases jointly strengthen the Mg_(98)Zn_(1)Y_(1) alloy. The Mg_(98)Zn_(1)Y_(1) alloy obtains optimal mechanical properties after extrusion at 623 K, with ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 406 MPa, yield strength (YS) of 388 MPa, and elongation (EL) of 5.6%.

Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a potentially fatal condition with no targeted treatment *** inhibiting xanthine oxidase(XO)in the treatment of AP has been studied in several experimental models and clinical trials,whether XO is a target of AP and what its the main mechanism of action is remains ***,we aimed to re-evaluate whether XO is a target aggravating AP other than merely generating reactive oxygen species that trigger *** first revealed that XO expression and enzyme activity were significantly elevated in the serum and pancreas of necrotizing AP *** also found that allopurinol and febuxostat,as purine-like and non-purine XO inhibitors,respectively,exhibited protective effects against pancreatic acinar cell death in vitro and pancreatic damage in vivo at different doses and treatment time ***,we observed that conditional Xdh overexpression aggravated pancreatic necrosis and *** mechanism analysis showed that XO inhibition restored the hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha(HIF-1α)-regulated lactate dehydrogenase A(LDHA)and NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3)signaling pathways and reduced the enrichment of^(13)C_(6)-glucose to^(13)C_(3)-***,we observed that clinical circulatory XO activity was significantly elevated in severe cases and correlated with C-reactive protein levels,while pancreatic XO and urate were also increased in severe AP *** results together indicated that proper inhibition of XO might be a promising therapeutic strategy for alleviating pancreatic necrosis and preventing progression of severe AP by downregulating HIF-1α-mediated LDHA and NLRP3 signaling pathways.

Advanced cellulose-based materials toward stabilizing zinc anodes

Rechargeable aqueous zinc metal batteries(RAZMBs) have received extensive attention for large-scale energy storage systems due to the merits of Zn anodes, including moderate volumetric and gravimetric energy density, low redox potential, abundant reserve, low cost and impressive intrinsic safety. However, Zn anodes suffer from a series of adverse reactions(dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation) resulting in low Coulombic efficiency, large polarization, and unsatisfied cycling performance, which inevitably hinder the wide application of RAZMBs. To address the above issues, cellulose-based materials are widely used for Zn anode protection because of their unique physical and chemical properties and other advantages such as biocompatibility, non-toxicity, degradability and easy extraction. In order to better understand the current progress in cellulosebased materials for the Zn anode protection, we have classified and summarized the relevant literatures. In this review, we summarize and elaborate the causes of poor reversibility for Zn anodes, including dendrite formation, hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation. Subsequently, the effective strategies(anode interfacial engineering, gel electrolyte optimization, and separator modification) of cellulose-based materials toward stabilizing Zn anodes are overviewed. In the end, the existing challenges and prospects of cellulose-based materials in Zn anode protection are summarized to shed light on future work.

Facile preparation of a SiC@SiO_(2)nanowire-toughened ZrB_(2)-SiC/SiC bilayer coating with good interfacial bonding,high toughness,and excellent cyclic ablation resistance on C/CA composites

Preparing antioxidant coatings to address the inherent oxidation sensitivity of carbon fiber-reinforced carbon aerogel(C/CA)composites is a feasible way to promote their application in oxidizing environments as thermal insulation ***,preparing the coatings with excellent oxidation and ablation resistance while avoiding evident damage to the C/CA substrate still remains a ***,a SiC@SiO_(2)nanowire-toughened ZrB2–SiC/SiC bilayer coating with a large thickness of 500μm was prepared on C/CA using a one-step low-temperature reaction sintering method,which simultaneously formed a sintered outer layer with even-distributed nanowires and a siliconized gradient inner *** courtesy of the synergic thermal response of the layers and the crack deflection induced by the nanowires,the resulting coating has moderate residual compressive stress of 0.08–1.22 GPa in the interface,high interfacial bonding strength of 6.02 MPa,and good fracture toughness of 4.36 MPa·m^(1/2).Benefited from the optimum components and improved structure,the coating shows excellent cyclic ablation resistance with linear ablation rates of 0.1μm/s at 1650℃for 1500 s(300 s×5 cycles)and 0.4μm/s at 1850℃for 900 s(300 s×3 cycles).The one-step preparation strategy contributes to little damage to the substrate,thus showing the well-preserved mechanical and thermal insulation properties.

Two Ramsey-Turán Numbers of Small Independence Numbers

Given a forbidden graph H and a function f(n), the Ramsey-Turán number RT (n, H, f (n)) is the maximum number of edges of an H-free graph on n vertices with independence number less than f (n).For graphs G and H, the Ramsey number R(G, H) is the minimum integer N such that any red/blue edge coloring of the complete graph KNcontains either a red G or a blue H. Denote G+H by the join graph obtained from disjoint G and H by adding all edges between them completely. We first show that for any fixed graph H, if there are two constants p:=p(H)> 0 and q:=q(H)> 1 such that R(H, Kn)≤(pnq)/(log n)q-1, then RT(n, K2+H, o(n1/q(log n)1-1/q))=o(n2), which extends several previous results. Moreover, we show that for any fixed forest F of order k≥3, and for any 0 <δ <1 and sufficiently large n, RT(n, F+F, nδ)≤n(2-(1-δ)/「(k-1)(2-δ)/(1-δ)」).As a corollary, we have an upper bound for RT(n, K2,2,2, nδ) for any 0 <δ <1.

Efficient removal of U(VI) from wastewater by a sponge-like 3D porous architecture with hybrid electrospun nanofibers

Exploring the dynamic three-dimensional chromatin architecture and transcriptional landscape in goose liver tissues underlying metabolic adaptations induced by a high-fat diet

Background Goose, descendants of migratory ancestors, have undergone extensive selective breeding, resulting in their remarkable ability to accumulate fat in the liver and exhibit a high tolerance for significant energy intake. As a result, goose offers an excellent model for studying obesity, metabolic disorders, and liver diseases in mammals. Although the impact of the three-dimensional arrangement of chromatin within the cell nucleus on gene expression and transcriptional regulation is widely acknowledged, the precise functions of chromatin architecture reorganization during fat deposition in goose liver tissues still need to be fully *** In this study, geese exhibited more pronounced changes in the liver index and triglyceride(TG) content following the consumption of the high-fat diet(HFD) than mice without significant signs of inflammation. Additionally, we performed comprehensive analyses on 10 goose liver tissues(5 HFD, 5 normal), including generating highresolution maps of chromatin architecture, conducting whole-genome gene expression profiling, and identifying H3K27ac peaks in the livers of geese and mice subjected to the HFD. Our results unveiled a multiscale restructuring of chromatin architecture, encompassing Compartment A/B, topologically associated domains, and interactions between promoters and enhancers. The dynamism of the three-dimensional genome architecture, prompted by the HFD, assumed a pivotal role in the transcriptional regulation of crucial genes. Furthermore, we identified genes that regulate chromatin conformation changes, contributing to the metabolic adaptation process of lipid deposition and hepatic fat changes in geese in response to excessive energy intake. Moreover, we conducted a cross-species analysis comparing geese and mice exposed to the HFD, revealing unique characteristics specific to the goose liver compared to a mouse. Luminescent materials that can be reversibly switched by electric field stimulation are attractive since the potential application for optoelectronic *** we report a triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion(TTA-UC)system with electrophoretic response which is developed as the electrophoretic *** TTA-UC system consists of an ionic derivative of 9,10-diphenyl anthracene(DPA)as the annihilator and Pt(II)octaethylporphyrin(PtOEP)as the *** applying an electric field,migration and enrichment of positively charged DPA derivatives towards the cathode results in a 20%enhancement of TTA-UC.A quasi-solid film for electrically writing is made using the electrophoretic TTA system as the ink and a platinum electrode as a *** prototype of TTA-UC ink demonstrates unique luminescence functions upon electrically writing and erasing,providing a promising strategy to develop electronic devices for display,information storage and encryption.
