To explore the kinetic adsorption under continuous and nonequilibrium states, an integration of continuous measurement and adsorption platform kinetics method was proposed, which was initially called the ICM-AP kinetics method, and a corresponding kinetic adsorption experimental method was developed. Adsorption experiments of europium(Eu) on Ca-bentonite,Na-bentonite, and the D231 cation exchange resin were performed using the ICM-AP kinetics method and continuous measurements. Because the kinetic experimental results observed in this study were different from those of traditional batch adsorption data, pseudo-first-order or pseudo-second-order kinetic models were unsuitable for fitting the experimental ***, a liquid membrane diffusion(LMD) model was developed based on the assumption of simultaneous adsorption/desorption to discuss the mechanism of kinetic adsorption. The kinetic adsorption mechanism was also studied by using *** results indicated that the proposed adsorption model can fit the experimental data more suitably, and the adsorption/desorption behaviors of Eu on bentonite and the D231 resin were simultaneously observed, suggesting that the adsorption kinetics of Eu(Ⅲ) was mainly dominated by hydrated Eu(Ⅲ) ions on the liquid membrane.

Understanding the structure of tropical cyclone(TC)hydrometeors is crucial for detecting the changes in the distribution and intensity of *** this study,the GMI brightness temperature and cloud-dependent 1DVAR algorithm were used to retrieve the hydrometeor profiles and surface rain rate of TC Nanmadol(2022).The Advanced Radiative Transfer Modeling System(ARMS)was used to calculate the Jacobian and degrees of freedom(△DOF)of cloud water,rainwater,and graupel for different channels of GMI in convective *** retrieval results were compared with the Dual-frequency Precipitation Radar(DPR),GMI 2A,and IMERG *** is shown that from all channels of GMI,rain water has the highest△DOF,at *** to the radiance Jacobian to atmospheric state variables,cloud water emission dominates its *** rain water,the emission of channels 1–4 dominates *** with the GMI 2A precipitation product,the 1DVAR precipitation rate has a higher correlation coefficient(0.713)with the IMERG product and can better reflect the location of TC *** the TC eyewall,the highest radar echo top indicates strong *** the melting layer where Ka-band attenuation is strong,the double frequency difference of DPR data reflects the location of the *** DPR drop size distribution(DSD)product shows that there is a significant increase in particle size below the melting layer in the spiral rain ***,the particle size may be one of the main reasons for the smaller rain water below the melting layer retrieved from 1DVAR.

In order to show that the newly developed K-string composition distance method, based on counting oligopeptide frequencies, for inferring phylogenetic relations of prokaryotes works equally well without requiring the whole proteome data, we used all ribosomal proteins and the set of aminoacyl tRNA synthetases for each species. The latter group has been known to yield inconsistent trees if used individually. Our trees are obtained without making any sequence alignment. Altogether 16 Archaea, 105 Bacteria and 2 Eucarya are represented on the tree. Most of the lower branchings agree well with the latest, 2003, Outline of the second edition of the Bergeys Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and the trees also suggest some relationships among higher taxa.

We report an important but long-overlooked manifestation of low-resolution power of 16S rRNA sequence analysis at the species level, namely, in 16S rRNA-based phylogenetic trees polyphyletic placements of closely-related species are abundant compared to those in genomebased phylogeny. This phenomenon makes the demarcation of genera within many families ambiguous in the 16S rRNA-based taxonomy. In this study, we reconstructed phylogenetic relationship for more than ten thousand prokaryote genomes using the CVTree method, which is based on wholegenome information. And many such genera, which are polyphyletic in 16S rRNA-based trees, are well resolved as monophyletic clusters by CVTree. We believe that with genome sequencing of prokaryotes becoming a commonplace, genome-based phylogeny is doomed to play a definitive role in the construction of a natural and objective taxonomy.

Chlorine doped graphitic carbon nitride nanorings as an efficient photoresponsive catalyst for water oxidation and organic decomposition

Rationally engineering the microstructure and electronic structure of catalysts to induce high activity for versatile applications remains a challenge. Herein, chlorine doped graphitic carbon nitride(Cl-doped g-C3N4) nanorings have been designed as a superior photocatalyst for pollutant degradation and oxygen evolution reaction(OER). Remarkably, Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings display enhanced OER performance with a small overpotential of approximately 290 m V at current density of 10 m A cm^-2 and Tafel slope of 83 m V dec-1, possessing comparable OER activity to precious metal oxides RuO2 and IrO2/C. The excellent catalytic performance of Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings originates from the strong oxidation capability,abundant active sites exposed and efficient charge transfer. More importantly, visible light irradiation gives rise to a prominent improvement of the OER performance, reducing the OER overpotential and Tafel slope by 140 m V and 28 m V dec^-1, respectively, demonstrating the striking photo-responsive OER activity of Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings. The great photo-induced improvement in OER activity would be related to the efficient charge transfer and the·OH radicals arising spontaneously on CN-Cl100 catalyst upon light irradiation. This work establishes Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings as a highly competitive metal-free candidate for photoelectrochemical energy conversion and environmental cleaning application.
