Objective: The exposure conditions with regard to 10-year ischemic cardiovascular disease (ICVD) risk among residents aged 45-59 years treated in Hudong Community Health Service Center were surveyed to provide an objective basis for further studies on the relation between risk factors and ICVD events. Methods: The survey was conducted from October 2013 to March 2014 with use of the princi-ple of cluster sampling. Our investigation involved questionnaire and laboratory tests. All residents were evaluated according to the table of National 10-Year Risk Assessment for ICVD to forecast the 10-year risk. The community intervention methods were medication and lifestyle intervention based on the relevant guidelines. Results: The body mass index and smoking rate were significantly higher in men than in women. The 10-year ICVD risk was 6.1% for moderate risk or above. We performed intervention in such residents for 1 year, with the result that the blood pressure and total cholesterol levels were significantly decreased (P<0.05). Conclusion: It is imperative that early prediction and intervention be conducted for the resi-dents with risk factors. After the intervention, we found that the risk declined in 79.41% of the residents with moderate risk and or above and that the 10-year ICVD risk score decreased.

Multi-locus association study of schizophrenia susceptibility genes with a posterior probability method

Schizophrenia is a serious neuropsychiatric illness affecting about 1% of the world’s population. It is considered a complex inheritance disorder. A number of genes are involved in combination in the etiology of the disorder. Evidence implicates the altered dopaminergic trans- mission in schizophrenia. In the present study, in order to identify susceptibility genes for schizophrenia in dopaminergic metabolism, we analyzed 59 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 24 genes of the dopaminergic pathway among 82 unrelated patients with schizophre- nia and 108 matched normal controls. Considering that traditional single-locus association stud- ies ignore the multigenic nature of complex diseases and do not take into account possible in- teractions between susceptibility genes, we proposed a multi-locus analysis method, using the posterior probability of morbidity as a measure of absolute disease risk for a multi-locus genotype combination, and developed an algorithm based on perturbation and average to detect the sus- ceptibility multi-locus genotype combinations, as well as to repress noise and avoid false positive results at our best. A three-locus SNP genotype combination involved in the interactions of COMT and ALDH3B1 genes was detected to be significantly susceptible to schizophrenia.

As the intermittency of wind power is a growing concern in the day-ahead economic dispatch,this paper proposes a day-ahead economic dispatch method considering extreme scenarios of wind power by using an uncertainty *** uncertainty set inspired by robust optimization is used to describe wind power intermittency in this *** extreme scenarios based on the uncertainty set are formulated to represent the worst cases of wind power *** economic dispatch method considering the costs of both load shedding and wind curtailment is *** economic dispatch model can be easily solved by a quadratic programming method owing to the introduction of four extreme scenarios and the uncertainty set of wind *** is done using the IEEE 30-bus system and the results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Effects of Epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation and Treadmill Training on Locomotion Function and Ultrastructure of Spinal Cord Anterior Horn after Moderate Spinal Cord Injury in Rats

Objective:To investigate the effects of epidural spinal cord stimulation(ESCS) and treadmill training on the locomotion function and ultrastructure of spinal cord anterior horn after moderate spinal cord injury in ***:Nine adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly distributed into three groups:①spinal cord injury group(SI,n=3).②spinal cord injury plus ESCS group(SE,n=3).③spinal cord injury plus treadmill training group(TT,n=3).All rats received a moderate spinal cord injury *** weeks after surgery,rats in SE group received an electrode implantation procedure,with the electrode field covering spinal cord segments *** weeks after electrode implantation,rats received subthreshold ESCS for 30 min/*** in TT group received 4cm/s treadmill training for 30min/*** in SI group received no intervention,as a control *** procedures in these three groups lasted four *** open field Basso,Beattie and Bresnahan(BBB) scale was used before and after intervention to evaluate rats' hindlimb motor ***:After four weeks intervention,rats in TT group improved their open field locomotion scores to *** contrast,no significant improvement was observed in groups SI and *** morphology of synapses and neurons were similar regardless of whether rats had undergone ESCS,treadmill training or ***:ESCS alone was not sufficient to improve the walking ability of spinal cord injured *** or treadmill training alone might not contribute to the changes of ultrastructure in anterior horn of spinal cord that underlie the recovery of walking *** research is needed to understand the contributions of combination of ESCS and treadmill training to the rehabilitation of spinal cord injured rats.

Ophiocordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps militaris both contain many bioactive compounds that confer potential therapeutic benefits. This review discusses the possible use of cultivated C. militaris as an effective substitute for native O. sinensis in the face of ever-increasing prices of O. sinensis because of its short supply. On the one hand, cultivated C. militaris contains higher levels of cordycepin when compared with that of wild-type O. sinensis and cultivation of C. militaris has been shown to be capable of reducing the risk of heavy metal contamination. On the other hand, there is a paucity of robust in vivo studies and randomized controlled tests comparing the pharmacology and use of C. militaris and O. sinensis. For extraction of cordycepin as western-style tablets, the use of cultivated C. militaris rather than O. sinensis represents the most appropriate future approach. For many other purposes, comparative pharmacology and clinical trials are in urgent needs.

The nanocomposite EVAL-CNT was produced by chemical grafting in the solution system through the esterification of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVAL) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (O-MWCNT), and its structural properties were characterized. The improvement of the rheological properties of the waxy oil system by the novel pour point depressant was investigated using macroscopic rheological measurements and microscopic observations. The results showed that EVAL-CNT nanocomposite pour point depressant (PPD) could significantly reduce the pour point and improve the low temperature fluidity of crude oil and had better performance than EVAL-GO at the same addition level. The best effect was achieved at the dosing concentration of 400 ppm, which reduced the pour point by 13 ℃ and the low-temperature viscosity by 85.4%. The nanocomposites dispersed in the oil phase influenced the precipitation and crystallization of wax molecules through heterogeneous crystallization templates, which led to the increase of wax crystal size and compact structure and changed the wax crystal morphology, which had a better effect on the rheological properties of waxy oil.

Objective Previous studies have indicated that the plasticizer di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(DEHP) affects lipid accumulation;however, its underlying mechanism remains unclear. We aim to clarify the effect of DEHP on lipid metabolism and the role of TYK2/STAT1 and autophagy. Methods In total, 160 Wistar rats were exposed to DEHP [0, 5, 50, 500 mg/(kg·d)] for 8 weeks. Lipid levels, as well as mRNA and protein levels of TYK2, STAT1, PPARγ, AOX, FAS, LPL, and LC3 were detected. Results The results indicate that DEHP exposure may lead to increased weight gain and altered serum lipids. We observed that DEHP exposure affected liver parenchyma and increased the volume or number of fat cells. In adipose tissue, decreased TYK2 and STAT1 promoted the expression of PPARγ and FAS. The mRNA and protein expression of LC3 in 50 and 500 mg/(kg·d) groups was increased significantly. In the liver, TYK2 and STAT1 increased compensatorily;however, the expression of FAS and AOX increased, while LPL expression decreased. Joint exposure to both a high-fat diet and DEHP led to complete disorder of lipid metabolism. Conclusion It is suggested that DEHP induces lipid metabolism disorder by regulating TYK2/STAT1. Autophagy may play a potential role in this process as well. High-fat diet, in combination with DEHP exposure, may jointly have an effect on lipid metabolism disorder.

The introduction of spinel phase to form the layered-spinel structure(LSS)is an effective way to improve the electrochemical performance of Li-and Mn-rich layered oxides(LMR).But is this structure universal for all LMR systems?In this work,different Mn/Ni ratio systems with the LSS are discussed in *** is found that,high discharge capacity(200.8 mA h g^(-1) at 1C rate;1C=250 mA h g^(-1))as well as high capacity-retention(94%at 1C rate after 100 cycles)can be achieved by forming the LSS for low-Ni system(Mn/Ni=5.0).However,the capacity retention decreases severely in the high-Ni system(Mn/Ni=3.5,2.6).For example,when the ratio of Mn/Ni is 3.5,the capacity-retention of the layered-spinel sample was only 65.8%,compared to the 83%of the original LMR *** Ex-situ XRD,XPS,and HRTEM results demonstrate that the introduction of spinel phase in high-Ni system accelerates the transition and collapse of the crystal *** work provides guidance for optimizing the proportions of elements and the design of structures for the LMR.

BACKGROUND： Kainic acid can be used to induce a model of epilepsy by systemic injection, such as intraperitoneal or subcutaneous injection. Individual rats have different responses to kainic acid, therefore high doses of drug are required and the success rate of model induction is low. It is necessary to develop an improved method to establish a temporal lobe epilepsy （TLE） animal model. OBJECTIVE： To explore an economic, stable and efficient method of establishing a TLE animal model. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A completely randomized, controlled study. The experiments were performed in the Cellular Function Laboratory of the Physiology Department, Anhui Medical University from March to July 2007. MATERIALS： Twenty adult male Wistar rats, weighing 230-260 g, were provided by the Experimental Animal Centre of Nanjing Medical University. Kainic acid was purchased from Sigma in USA. Type SN-2 stereotaxic apparatus was made by Narishge in Japan. METHODS： Wistar rats were randomly divided into a kainic acid （KA） group （n = 12） and a normal saline （NS） group （n = 8）. For intrahippocampal microinjection, a burr hole was drilled in the skull at the following stereotaxic coordinates： anteroposterior （AP） 4.1 mm caudal to bregma; lateral （ML） 4.2 mm right lateral to the midline. Rats in the KA group were injected with 2.5 μL KA （0.4 g/L） into the center of the CA3 region, while in the NS group the same volume of NS was injected into the same site. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Both groups were monitored under a video capture system for 12 weeks to record spontaneous seizures. Intracranial eletroencepholograph （IEEG） recordings in vivo were performed after the behavioral observations. After the IEEG recordings, hippocampi were processed into coronal sections. Nissl and Timm stainings were then performed to observe and confirm pathology. RESULTS： Twenty rats were involved in the final analysis.
