A Line Complex-Based Evolutionary Algorithm for Many-Objective Optimization

In solving many-objective optimization problems(MaO Ps),existing nondominated sorting-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithms suffer from the fast loss of selection pressure.Most candidate solutions become nondominated during the evolutionary process,thus leading to the failure of producing offspring toward Pareto-optimal front with diversity.Can we find a more effective way to select nondominated solutions and resolve this issue?To answer this critical question,this work proposes to evolve solutions through line complex rather than solution points in Euclidean space.First,Plücker coordinates are used to project solution points to line complex composed of position vectors and momentum ones.Besides position vectors of the solution points,momentum vectors are used to extend the comparability of nondominated solutions and enhance selection pressure.Then,a new distance function designed for high-dimensional space is proposed to replace Euclidean distance as a more effective distancebased estimator.Based on them,a novel many-objective evolutionary algorithm(MaOEA)is proposed by integrating a line complex-based environmental selection strategy into the NSGAⅢframework.The proposed algorithm is compared with the state of the art on widely used benchmark problems with up to 15 objectives.Experimental results demonstrate its superior competitiveness in solving MaOPs.

Study on propellant management device in plate surface tension tanks

Surface tension tanks exploit the liquid surface tension in liquid transport and gas–liquid separation to provide gas-free propellant for the thruster. High transport efficiency of deflectors can ensure liquid relocation in the microgravity environment within a short period of time, which is helpful for providing gas-free propellant. This paper explores transport efficiency of deflectors through drop tower experiments and numerical simulations with the volume of fluid method. The experimental and numerical results show that both the liquid flow speed and the mass flow rate along deflectors increase as the widths of deflectors increase. Besides, a new type of propellant management device, which consists of four deflectors and four anti-sloshing baffles, is verified with numerical simulations and drop tower experiments. Moreover, long-term conditions are predicted by using similarity theories. These results can provide important references for the design of plate tanks.

A homologous strategy to parallelly construct doped MOFs-derived electrodes for flexible solid-state hybrid supercapacitors

Developing efficient and cost-effective electrode materials is of essential significance to advance various energy storage technologies,among which flexible supercapacitors hold great promise to meet the growing popularity of wearable electronics.Herein,we report a homologous strategy to parallelly synthesize phosphorus-doped ZnCo_(2)O_(4)(P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC)and nitrogen-doped carbon(NC@NCC)both derived from ZnCo-metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)precursors in-situ grown on dopamine-modified carbon cloth(NCC)as conductive substrates.Impressively,the as-obtained P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC can achieve a high specific capacitance of 2702.2 mF∙cm^(−2)at 1 mA∙cm^(−2)with the capacitance retention rate exceeding 70.6%at 10 mA∙cm^(−2),demonstrating the outstanding rate capability.Moreover,flexible solid-state hybrid supercapacitors,using P-ZnCo_(2)O_(4)@NCC as positive electrode and NC@NCC as negative electrode,are assembled with poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/KOH as the gel electrolyte,which deliver the energy density of 11.9 mWh∙cm^(−3)when the power density reaches up to 47.3 mW∙cm^(−3).In addition,85.15%of the initial specific capacitance is maintained after 5000 continuous cycles and no obvious capacitance decay is observed under different bending conditions,revealing the excellent cycling stability and flexibility.As a proof-of-concept demonstration,two as-assembled hybrid supercapacitors connected in series can light up a red light-emitting diode(LED)under the bending angle of 180°,heralding the feasibility for broad practical applications.

Single-atom catalysis enables long-life, high-energy lithium-sulfur batteries

With high energy density and low material cost,lithium sulfur batteries(LSBs)emerge quite expeditiously as a fascinating energy storage system over the past decade.Broad applications of LSBs ranging from electric vehicles to stationary grid storage seem rather bright in recent literatures.However,there still exist many pressing challenges to be addressed because we do not yet fully understand and control the electrode-electrolyte interface chemistries during battery operation,such as polysulide shuttling and poor utilization of active sulfur.Single-atom catalysts(SACs)pave new possibilities of tackling the tough issues due to their decent applicability in the atomic-level identification of structure-activity relationships and reaction mechanism,as well as their structural tunability with atomic precision.This review comprehensively summarizes the very recent advances in utilization of highly active SACs for LSBs by stating and discussing the related publications,which involves catalyst synthesis routes,battery pertormance,catalytic mechanisms,optimization strategies,and promises to achieve long-lite,high-energy LSBs.We see that endeavors to employ SACs to modify sulfur cathode have allowed efficient polysulfide conversion and confinement,leading to the minimization of shuttle effect.Parallel efforts are being devoted to extending the scope of SACs to cell separator and lithium metal anode in order to unlock the full potential of LSBs.We also obtain mechanistic insights into battery chemistries and nature of SACs in their strong interactions with polysulfides through advanced in situ characterizations documented.Overall,acceleration in the development of LSBs by introducing SACs is noticeable,and this cutting edge needs more attentions to further promoting the design of better LSBs.

Flexible,Highly Thermally Conductive and Electrically Insulating Phase Change Materials for Advanced Thermal Management of 5G Base Stations and Thermoelectric Generators

Thermal management has become a crucial problem for high-power-density equipment and devices.Phase change materials(PCMs)have great prospects in thermal management applications because of their large capacity of heat storage and isothermal behavior during phase transition.However,low intrinsic thermal conductivity,ease of leakage,and lack of flexibility severely limit their applications.Solving one of these problems often comes at the expense of other performance of the PCMs.In this work,we report core–sheath structured phase change nanocomposites(PCNs)with an aligned and interconnected boron nitride nanosheet network by combining coaxial electrospinning,electrostatic spraying,and hot-pressing.The advanced PCN films exhibit an ultrahigh thermal conductivity of 28.3 W m^(-1)K^(-1)at a low BNNS loading(i.e.,32 wt%),which thereby endows the PCNs with high enthalpy(>101 J g^(-1)),outstanding ductility(>40%)and improved fire retardancy.Therefore,our core–sheath strategies successfully balance the trade-off between thermal conductivity,flexibility,and phase change enthalpy of PCMs.Further,the PCNs provide powerful cooling solutions on 5G base station chips and thermoelectric generators,displaying promising thermal management applications on high-power-density equipment and thermoelectric conversion devices.

A Full-Scale Optimization of a Crop Spatial Planting Structure and its Associated Effects

Driven by the concept of agricultural sustainable development,crop planting structure optimization(CPSO)has become an effective measure to reduce regional crop water demand,ensure food security,and protect the environment.However,traditional optimization of crop planting structures often ignores the impact on regional food supply–demand relations and interprovincial food trading.Therefore,using a system analysis concept and taking virtual water output as the connecting point,this study proposes a theoretical CPSO framework based on a multi-aspect and full-scale evaluation index system.To this end,a water footprint(WF)simulation module denoted as soil and water assessment tool–water footprint(SWAT-WF)is constructed to simulate the amount and components of regional crop WFs.A multi-objective spatial CPSO model with the objectives of maximizing the regional economic water productivity(EWP),minimizing the blue water dependency(BWFrate),and minimizing the grey water footprint(GWFgrey)is established to achieve an optimal planting layout.Considering various benefits,a fullscale evaluation index system based on region,province,and country scales is constructed.Through an entropy weight technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution(TOPSIS)comprehensive evaluation model,the optimal plan is selected from a variety of CPSO plans.The proposed framework is then verified through a case study of the upper–middle reaches of the Heihe River Basin in Gansu province,China.By combining the theory of virtual water trading with system analysis,the optimal planting structure is found.While sacrificing reasonable regional economic benefits,the optimization of the planting structure significantly improves the regional water resource benefits and ecological benefits at different scales.

Textural and compositional variation of mica from the Dexing porphyry Cu deposit:constraints on the behavior of halogens in porphyry systems

The Dexing porphyry deposit is the largest porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposit in South China.Biotite composition can record the physicochemical conditions and evolution history of magmatic-hydrothermal system.Biotite from the Dexing porphyry deposit could be divided to three types:primary magmatic biotite(Bi-M),hydrothermal altered magmatic biotite(Bi-A)and hydrothermal biotite(Bi-H).The temperature of Bi-M and Bi-H range from 719 to 767℃ and 690 to 727℃,respectively.Both magmatic and hydrothermal biotite have high Fe^(3+)/Fe^(2+)ratios(from 0.18 to 0.24)and XMgvalues(from 0.57 to 0.66),indicating a high oxygen fugacity.BiM has F lower than Bi-A and Bi-H(up to 0.26 wt%),but has Cl(Cl=0.18–0.30 wt%)similar to Bi-A and Bi-H(Cl=0.21–0.35 wt%),suggesting that high Cl/F ratios of early hydrothermal fluid may result from the exsolution from high Cl magma.From potassic alteration zone to phyllic and propylitic alteration zones,Cl decreases with increasing Cu,whereas F increases roughly.Therefore,Cl mostly originate from magma,but enrichment of F possibly results from reaction of fluids and Neoproterozoic strata.Negative correlation between Cl and Cu indicates that Cl might act as an important catalyst during Cu mineralization process.Biotite from Dexing has similar halogen compositions to other porphyry Cu-/Mo deposits in the world.Chlorine contents of hydrothermal fluid may be critical for Cu transportation and enrichment,while consumption of Cl would promote Cu deposition.

Interface engineering of Zn meal anodes using electrochemically inert Al_(2)O_(3)protective nanocoatings

Aqueous rechargeable Zn-ion batteries are regarded as a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries owing to their high energy density,low cost,and high safety.However,their commercialization is severely restricted by the Zn dendrite formation and side reactions.Herein,we propose that these issues can be minimized by modifying the interfacial properties through introducing electrochemically inert Al_(2)O_(3)nanocoatings on Zn meal anodes(Al_(2)O_(3)@Zn).The Al_(2)O_(3)nanocoatings can effectively suppress both the dendrite growth and side reactions.As a result,the Al_(2)O_(3)@Zn symmetric cells show excellent electrochemical performance with a long lifespan of more than 4,000 h at 1 mA·cm^(−2)and 1 mAh·cm^(−2).Meanwhile,the assembled Al_(2)O_(3)@Zn//V_(2)O_(5)full cells can deliver a high capacity(236.2 mAh·g^(−1))and long lifespan with a capacity retention of 76.11%after 1,000 cycles at 4 A·g^(−1).

An experimental research on surface oscillation of buoyant-thermocapillary convection in open cylindrical annuli

An experiment is carried out on the surface oscillation of buoyant-thermocapillary convection in an open cylindrical annulus. When the radial temperature difference AT reaches a critical value △Tc, a regular oscillation appears and soon disappears on the open surface, which varies when the liquid layer＇s thickness h and temperature difference △T are varied. With growth of △T, dominant frequency of the visible oscillation will grow too but is found within certain frequencies. Driving forces, buoyance and thermocapillarity, are responsible for this phenomanon and the ＂balance＂ point is considered to exist when h is between 4.5-5.0 mm. Surface oscillation region is also found restricted within a narrow gap when Bo is smaller than 3.7.

Dielectric polymer based electrolytes for high-performance all-solid-state lithium metal batteries

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are urgently required for achieving practical all-solid-state lithium metal batteries (ASSLMBs) but remain plagued by low ionic conductivity.Herein,we propose a strategy of salt polarization to fabricate a highly ion-conductive SPE by employing a high-dielectric polymer that can interact strongly with lithium salts.Such a polymer with large dipole moments can guide lithium cations (Li^(+)) to be arranged along the chain,forming a continuous pathway for Li^(+) hopping within the SPE.The as-fabricated SPE,poly(vinylidene difluoride)(PVDF)-LiN(SO_(2)F)_(2)(LiFSI),has an extraordinarily high dielectric constant (up to 10^(8)) and ultrahigh ionic conductivity (0.77×10^(-3)S cm^(-1)).Based on the PVDF–LiFSI SPE,the assembled Li metal symmetrical cell shows excellent Li plating/stripping reversibility at 0.1 m A cm^(-2),0.1 m Ah cm^(-2)over 1500 h^(-1) the ASS LiFePO_(4) batteries deliver long-term cycling stability at 1 C over 350 cycles (2.74 mg cm^(-2)) and an ultralong cycling lifespan of over 2600 h(100 cycles) with high loading (11.5 mg cm^(-2)) at 28°C.First-principles calculations further reveal the ion-dipole interactions-controlled conduction of Li^(+) in PVDF–LiFSI SPE along the PVDF chain.This work highlights the critical role of dielectric permittivity in SPE,and provides a promising path towards high-energy,long-cycling lifespan ASSLMBs.
