Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Performance of Curvilinear Cylindrical Gears Based on Finite Element Method

The fixed-setting face-milled curvilinear cylindrical gear features teeth that are arc-shaped along the longitudinal *** researchers hypothesize that this arc-tooth may enhance the lubrication conditions of the *** study focuses on this type of gear,employing both finite element analysis(FEA)and analytical methods to determine the input parameters required for elastohydrodynamic lubrication(EHL)*** effects of assembly errors,tooth surface modifications,load,and face-milling cutter radius on the lubrication performance of these gears are systematically *** finite element model(FEM)of the gear pair is utilized to calculate the coordinates of contact points on the tooth surface and the corresponding contact pressures at the tooth surface nodes throughout a meshing ***,the normal load on specific gear teeth is determined using a gradient-based *** speed,slip-to-roll ratio,and effective radius near the contact points on the tooth surface are derived through analytical *** data obtained from FEA serve as input parameters for EHL *** lubrication performance of the curvilinear cylindrical gear is evaluated through example *** findings indicate that using FEA to provide input parameters for EHL simulations can reveal the occurrence of edge contact phenomena during gear meshing,allowing for a more accurate representation of the gear’s lubrication *** lubrication performance of the curvilinear cylindrical gear is shown to be independent of the face-milling cutter radius but is significantly influenced by the size of the contact pattern on the tooth *** gears with larger contact patterns demonstrate superior lubrication performance.

The effects of austenite grain size on the deformed microstructure and mechanical properties of an Fe-20Mn-6Al-0.6C-0.15Si(wt.%)low-density steel were *** microstructure of the experimental steel after solution treatment was single austenitic *** austenite grain size increased with solution temperature and time.A model was established to show the relationship between temperature,time and austenite grain size for the experimental *** addition,as the solution temperature increased,the strength decreased,while the elongation first increased and then *** decrease in elongation after solution treatment at 1100℃ for 90 min is contributed to the over-coarse austenite ***,after solution treatment at 900℃ for 90 min,the strength-elongation product reached the highest value of 44.4 GPa%.As the austenite grain size increased,the intensity of//tensile direction fiber *** was accompanied by a decrease in dislocation density,resulting in a lower fraction of low-angle grain boundaries and a lower work hardening ***,the austenite grain size has a critical influence on the mechanical properties of the low-density *** grains lead to a lower yield strength due to the Hall-Petch effect and a lower tensile strength because of lower dislocation strengthening.

Mesh-supported V2O5-WO3/TiO2 nanosheet array catalysts for efficient removal of NOx

The design and synthesis of vanadium-based denitration catalysts with low-temperature activity pose significant challenges in the field of toxic gas *** this study,we have developed a novel approach to fabricate highly efficient V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalysts for NOxreduction at low ***,TiO2nanosheets with strong adhesion and large surface area were grown on Ti mesh using plasma electrolytic oxidation technology and hydrothermal ***,super-small traces of WO3and V2O5active nano-species were subsequently deposited on TiO2nanosheets using the deposition-precipitation *** to traditional ceramic-based V2O5-WO3/TiO2catalysts,our V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalyst exhibits superior mechanical performance,excellent thermal conductivity,lower pressure drop,higher utilization of active components,and stronger synergistic ***,the V2O5-WO3/TiO2monolithic mesh catalysts exhibited excellent low-temperature catalytic activity with 98% of NOxconversion at 220℃,and remarkable long-term SO2tolerance and water resistance in the selective catalytic reduction（SCR） of NOxwith *** SCR reaction of tiny V2O5and WO3active species supported on TiO2nanosheets directly demonstrated to follow the Eley-Rideal mechanism by in situ infrared spectra.

Fast and robust production of quantum superposition states by the fractional shortcut to adiabaticity

The fractional shortcut to adiabaticity(f-STA)for the production of quantum superposition states is proposed firstly via a three-level system with aΛ-type linkage pattern and a four-level system with a tripod *** fast and robust production of the coherent superposition states is studied by comparing the populations for the f-STA and the fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage(f-STIRAP).The states with equal proportions can be produced by fixing the controllable parameters of the driving pulses at the final moment of the whole *** effects of the pulse intensity and the time delay of the pulses on the production process are discussed by monitoring the populations on all of the quantum *** particular,the spontaneous emission arising from the intermediate state is investigated by the quantum master *** result reveals that the f-STA exhibits superior advantages over the f-STIRAP in producing the superposition states.

Anisotropy characterization of upper shanghai clays: Shear strength and small-strain stiffness

Comprehensive investigations have been conducted to study the structure and overconsolidation of upper Shanghai clays, i.e. Layers 2–6 clays, typically located at depths of 30–40 m. However, limited information is available on their anisotropy, and even less is known about the correlation between structure, overconsolidation, and anisotropy. In this study, the undrained anisotropy characteristics of shear strength and small-strain shear stiffness in upper Shanghai Layers 2–6 clays were thoroughly assessed using a series of K0-consolidated undrained triaxial compression (TC) and triaxial extension (TE) tests (K0 is the coefficient of lateral earth pressure at rest). The effective stress paths, shear strength, and small-strain shear stiffness from the undrained TC and TE tests demonstrate the anisotropic behaviors in upper Shanghai clays. Analyses of data from upper Shanghai clays and other clays worldwide indicate that the shear strength anisotropy ratio (Ks) converges at 0.8 as the overconsolidation ratio (OCR) and plasticity index (Ip) increase, while the small-strain shear stiffness anisotropy ratio (Re) converges at 1.0. The influence of OCR on Ks and Re is more pronounced than that of Ip and sensitivity (St). Nevertheless, no clear correlation between Ks and Re is observed in upper Shanghai clays.

Dynamics of three ferrofluid droplets in a rotating magnetic field

Two-dimensional（2D） direct numerical simulations on the dynamics of three identical ferrofluid droplets suspended in a non-magnetic ambient fluid under a rotating uniform magnetic field are conducted, and the motion and deformation of the three ferrofluid droplets are studied in this paper. Results show that there are four modes(i.e., the three droplets' direct coalescence（TC）, the coalescence of two droplets and the subsequent planetary motion with the third droplet（CAP）, the three droplets' planetary motion（TP）, and the independent spin（IS）) for the three ferrofluid droplets, dependent on the magnetic Bond number（Bom） and the initial distance（d0） between two of the droplets. It is found that the decrease in d0and the increase in Bomcan make the droplets' mode change from the IS to the planetary motion, and then turn to the ***, reducing Bomor d0is helpful for the droplets to become merged.

The metal ion batteries have gained widespread attention for wearable electronics due to their competitive energy density and long cycling *** the advanced anode materials is significant for next generation energy storage ***,severe electrode volume changes and sluggish redox kinetics are the critical problems for lithium/potassium ion batteries(LIBs/PIBs)towards large-scale ***,we prepare a novel anode material,which consists of reduced graphene oxide wrapping one-dimensional(1D)N-doped porous carbon nanotube with cobalt phosphoselenide(CoPSe)nanoparticles embedded inside them(r GO@Co PSe/NC).Benefited from the dual carbon decorations and ultrafine nanoparticles structure,it achieves a reversible capacity of 245 mAh/g at 5 A/g after 2000 cycles for LIBs and 215 mAh/g at 1 A/g after 500 cycles for *** pseudocapacitance and GITT measurements are used to investigate the electrochemical kinetics of r GO@Co PSe/NC for *** addition,the lithium ion full cell also shows good electrochemical performance when paired with high capacity LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) *** work provides a feasible electrode design strategy for high-efficiency metal ion batteries based on multidimensional nanoarchitecture engineering and composition tailoring.

Metal may affect maternal immune function,but few epidemiological studies have reported the associations between multiple-metal exposure and maternal immunoglobulin(Ig)*** on the Hangzhou Birth Cohort Study,1059 participants were included,and eleven metals in whole blood samples and serum IgA,IgG,IgE and IgM levels were *** regression,quantile-based g-computation(QGC),and Bayesian kernel machine regression(BKMR)models were used to evaluate the *** with the first tertile of metal levels,arsenic(As)was negatively associated with IgE(β=-0.25,95%confidence interval(CI)=-0.48 to-0.02).Moreover,significant associations of manganese(Mn)with IgA,IgG and IgM were demonstrated(β=0.10,95%CI=0.04 to 0.18;β=0.07,95%CI=0.03 to 0.12;β=0.10,95%CI=0.03 to 0.18,respectively).Cadmium(Cd)were associated with higher levels of *** models showed the positive association of the metalmixtures with IgA and IgG,with Mn playing amajor *** and Cd had positive contributions to IgM,while As had negative contributions to *** the BKMR models,the latent continuous outcomes of IgA and IgG showed a significant increase when all the metals were at their 60th percentile or above compared to those at their 50th ***,exposure to metals was associated with maternal Igs,and mainly showed that Mn was associated with increased levels of IgA,IgG and IgM,and As was associated with low IgE levels.

Development of a general circumferentially nonuniform heat transfer fuel rod model for subchannel analysis and application to helical fuel rods

The subchannel analysis method is one of the most crucial transient safety analysis methods in the thermal design of nuclear *** nonuniformity of circumferential heat transfer is slight in conventional pressurized water reactor(PWR)cores,but it is significant in advanced reactors with wire-wrapped or helical fuel *** circumferentially nonuniform heat transfer behavior can be challenging owing to the complex geometry of helical fuel *** this study,a general circumferentially nonuniform heat transfer fuel rod(GCNF)model is developed to predict the fuel central temperature and circumferential heat flux and wall *** model incorporates a refined two-dimensional fuel conduction model and circumferential nonuniform shape factor,addressing the dual factors contributing to the circumferential nonuniformity of helical fuel *** empirical correlation for the nonuniform shape factor is developed based on the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)results,and it is implemented to the subchannel *** newly developed model is applied to a helical fuel annulus and validated by comparing the prediction results with CFD *** maximum wall temperature predicted by the code is 1.15℃ lower than the value calculated through *** terms of the heat flux,the maximum value at the inner corner is 22 kW lower than that obtained from the CFD *** accurate prediction of circumferentially nonuniform heat transfer in helical fuel,concerning the surface heat flux and cladding temperature,addresses existing shortcomings in helical fuel subchannel analysis ***,the capability to predict the fuel central temperature is essential for the safety analysis to determine whether fuel rods are *** generality of the model framework allows it to be used for the prediction of circumferential nonuniform heat transfer behavior in other types of fuel assemblies.
