Gradient microstructure,recrystallization and mechanical properties of copper processed by high pressure surface rolling

The microstructure,hardness and tensile properties have been studied in copper processed by high pressure surface rolling(HPSR)both in the as-deformed condition and after subsequent annealing at 150℃.It is found that a gradient structure with significant differences in the scale of microstructural features is formed by *** deformed microstructure varies from nano-and ultrafine-scale structures with a large fraction of high angle boundaries near the surface to lightly deformed grains at depths of 1-3 mm below the *** tests of 1-mm-thick specimens demonstrate that the asdeformed material has a high strength and a low uniform *** at 150℃results in partial recrystallization,which creates new through-thickness *** for the topmost layer and several bands in the adjacent layer,recrystallization is more pronounced close to the *** fraction recrystallized is at least 80%at depths of 60-300μm after annealing for 960 *** fraction recrystallized in the subsurface decreases with increasing depth,and the deformed layer at depths greater than 500μm re-mains largely non-recrystallized after *** partially recrystallized condition demonstrates an improved combination of strength and ductility.

Stochastic averaging of quasi integrable and resonant Hamiltonian systems excited by fractional Gaussian noise with Hurst index 1/2

A stochastic averaging method of quasi integrable and resonant Hamiltonian systems under excitation of fractional Gaussian noise （fGn） with the Hurst index 1/2 〈 H 〈 1 is proposed. First, the definition and the basic property of fGn and related fractional Brownian motion （iBm） are briefly introduced. Then, the averaged fractional stochastic differential equations （SDEs） for the first integrals and combinations of angle variables of the associated Hamiltonian systems are derived. The stationary probability density and statistics of the original systems are then obtained approximately by simulating the averaged SDEs numerically. An example is worked out to illustrate the proposed stochastic averaging method. It is shown that the results obtained by using the proposed stochastic averaging method and those from digital simulation of original system agree well.

The reliability of quasi integrable and non-resonant Hamiltonian system under fractional Gaussian noise(fGn)excitation is *** rather flat fGn power spectral density(PSD)in most part of frequency band,the fGn is innovatively regarded as a wide-band ***,the stochastic averaging method for quasi integrable Hamiltonian systems under wide-band noise excitation is applied to reduce 2n-dimensional original system into n-dimensional averaged ltd stochastic differential equations(SDEs).Reliability function and mean first passage time are obtained by solving the associated backward Kolmogorov equation and Pontryagin *** validity of the proposed procedure is tested by applying it to an example and comparing the numerical results with those from Monte Carlo simulation.

Influence of Fe Addition on Products of Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis Reaction in 3Ti-Si-2C System

Influence of Fe addition on products of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reaction in 3Ti-Si-2C system was investigated in the present study. Without Fe addition, Ti5Si3 and TiC are the dominant phases along with a small amount of Ti3SiC2 phase and unreacted C left in the final products. As Fe content ranges from 10% to 30%, the products consist of TiC, Ti5Si3, Fe2Ti and unreacted C, but no trace of Ti3SiC2 phase is detected. Furthermore, the amounts of both Fe2Ti and C phases increase with Fe content increasing. Addition of Fe has a great effect on the reaction route and significantly restrains the formation of Ti3SiC2 during the combustion synthesis process, and therefore, the SHS is not an effective fabrication technique to synthesize the ternary Ti3SiC2 ceramic in either 3Ti-Si-2C or Fe-3Ti-Si-2C system. Besides, without Fe addition, Ti5Si3 presents as the coarse irregular appearance with an obviously sintered morphology. In contrast, the shape of Ti5Si3 exhibits more and more spherical (cobblestone-like) and the surface becomes increasingly smooth, because the amount of liquids formed during the SHS reaction increases with the increase of Fe content. on the other hand, with Fe content increasing from 0 to 30 wt.%, the particulate size of TiC decreases from more than 5 μm to 1 μm or less, mainly due to the fact that the combustion temperature decreases with the increase of Fe content in the preforms.

NUMERICAl SIMUlATIoN oF CEllUlAR/DENDRITIC PRIMARY SPACING

A numerical model has been established to calculate the primary spacing of cellular or dendritic structure with fluid flow considered. The computing results show that the primary spacing depends on the growing velocity, the temperature gradient on the interface and fluid flow. There is a critical growing velocity for the cell-dendrite transition, which has a relationship with the temperature gradient: Rcr = (3-4)×10-9GT. Fluid flow leads to an increase of the primary spacing for dendritic growth but a decrease for cellular growth, resulting in an instability on the interface.

Reduction effect of final-pass heavy reduction rolling on the texture development,tensile property and stretch formability of ZWK100 alloy plates

obviously planar anisotropy due to‘TD split’orthotropic texture(TD indicates Transverse direction)always exist in the Rare-earth(RE)or Ca containing Mg alloy sheets,which is likely caused by the lowreduction rolling(and annealing)as revealed in our previous *** this work,the as-cast billets of a ZWK100 alloy were subjected to final-pass heavy reduction rolling(FHRR)at 500°C with different reductions(30%-70%)after rough rolling,aiming to investigate the reduction effect on the microstructure and texture *** results show that FHRR with higher reductions above 50%is in favor of shear banding formation but has little effect on the as-deformed texture components,and the excellent formability with single-pass reduction up to 70%is mainly ascribed to the activation of prismatic *** with reduction above 50%and annealing can generate uniform grain structures of~10μm and symmetrical‘oblique-line split’texture in(0001)pole figures,with basal poles tilting by about 50°from ND(Normal direction)towards some oblique-line of TD and RD(Rolling direction)as well as uniform distribution of counter lines as an annular shape,resulting in excellent elongation to failure of~50%and ultra-low planar anisotropyΔr_of~0.1 and high stretch formability(Erichsen value:8.1).The formation‘oblique-line split’texture in(0001)pole figures is mainly correlated with the preferred growth tendency of grains with■//RD,which was suggested to relate to the high mobility of some special boundaries such as 40°-45°■.The influences of starting textures on the mechanical properties,planar anisotropy and related deformation modes,as well as their correlations with the stretch formability were comparatively investigated with the‘TD split’orthotropic texture as a counterpoint.

A model coupling particle aggregation and randomwalk surface diffusion has been developed for 2D simulation of depositional growth, in which impinging particles follow either a straight-line trajectory of cosine distribution, representing typically sputter deposition, or a scattered trajectory, representing typically electrochemical deposition. Simulations of the growth under various impinging conditions and effective surface diffusivity have been carried out. Pattern and defect development in deposition on flat, trenched and ridged substrates have been investigated. We found that on flat and ridged substrates, both types of trajectories yield similar features, including formation of cone-like defects on surface ridges. While on trenched substrate, the straight-line impingement yielded more uniform step coverage than the scattered impingement.

EFFECT oF ElECTRolESS DEPoSITIoN CoNDITIoNS oN THE STRUCTURES AND THE MAGNETIC PERFoRMANCES oF THE Co-Fe-P AlloY

Electroless Co-Fe-P alloys were deposited from an alkaline bath, containing boric acid as a buffer agent and sodium citrate as a complexing agent. As a result, with the increase of pH of the bath, the iron content of the deposit increased, whereas the cobalt and phosphorus contents decreased. The structure of the deposit was investigated using X-ray diffraction （XRD） and transmission electron microscope （TEM）. The deposit consisted of hexahedron phase Co, cubic phase Fe-Co, and amorphous phase （crystalline）. The magnetic performances of the deposit were studied using vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM）. The more the content of Fe and the less the content of P （the content of Co being less）, the better the magnetic performances of the deposit. The Co-Fe-P deposit was suitable for use as soft magnetic material.

A magnetic state equation of the MnFeP0.45As0.55 compound has been obtained by minimizing the Gibbs free energy with respect to the volume and the magnetization based on the Bean-Rodbell model. The isothermal magnetization of the compound has been calculated using this equation. The magnetic entropy change of the compound was determined from the surface area between the two adjacent isothermal magnetization curves divided by the average temperature. A comparison and an error analysis of the calculated magnetic entropy change and the one determined from the experimental data were given.

This paper studied the changing principles of carbon content in direct reduction iron (DRI) and liquid iron in the CoREX melting gasifier. Under the normal working conditions of experimental equipment, liquid nitrogen was poured into the melting gasifier from its tuyere to cool down quickly. And then seven cross sections were made to study the carburization reaction and its characteristics of the solid iron and the liquid iron, and also the reaction of carbon between the slag and the metal. According to the results, the influences of the thickness of the semi-coke layer and the temperature on the carbon content of liquid iron in the CoREX melting gasifier were confirmed.
