Vision Based Real Time Monitoring System for Elderly Fall Event Detection Using Deep Learning

Human fall detection plays a vital part in the design of sensor based alarming system,aid physical therapists not only to lessen after fall effect and also to save human *** and timely identiﬁcation can offer quick medical ser-vices to the injured people and prevent from serious *** vision-based approaches have been developed by the placement of cameras in diverse everyday *** present times,deep learning(DL)models par-ticularly convolutional neural networks(CNNs)have gained much importance in the fall detection *** this motivation,this paper presents a new vision based elderly fall event detection using deep learning(VEFED-DL)*** proposed VEFED-DL model involves different stages of operations namely pre-processing,feature extraction,classiﬁcation,and parameter ***-ily,the digital video camera is used to capture the RGB color images and the video is extracted into a set of *** improving the image quality and elim-inate noise,the frames are processed in three levels namely resizing,augmenta-tion,and min–max based ***,MobileNet model is applied as a feature extractor to derive the spatial features that exist in the preprocessed *** addition,the extracted spatial features are then fed into the gated recur-rent unit(GRU)to extract the temporal dependencies of the human ***,a group teaching optimization algorithm(GTOA)with stacked autoenco-der(SAE)is used as a binary classiﬁcation model to determine the existence of fall or non-fall *** GTOA is employed for the parameter optimization of the SAE model in such a way that the detection performance can be *** order to assess the fall detection performance of the presented VEFED-DL model,a set of simulations take place on the UR fall detection dataset and multi-ple cameras fall *** experimental outcomes highlighted the superior per-formance of the presented method over the recent methods.

Prevalence of Bacillus *** the biofilm forming community on Ti surface in marine environment

Prevalence of bacterial species involved in biomineralization of manganese on titanium （Ti） surfaces in marine environment was revealed in this research work. This study involves one year sea water exposure of Ti and their periodical biofilm characterization was carried out to quantify the manganese oxidizing bacterial （MOB） presence in the biofilm formed on titanium surfaces. The total viable count study of Ti coupons exposed to sea water for one year resulted in 60% of the MOB in overall biofilm population. The biochemical characterization of MOB isolates were performed for the genus level identifcation of the seven bacterial isolates. Further, the seven strains were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Evolutionary analysis was performed using MEGA 7 to obtain closely related strains within the groups. The manganese oxidizing ability of the bacterial isolates were determined with Leucoberbelin Blue Assay （LBB） and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy studies （hAS）. The results show that among the isolated marine MOB species, Bacillus sp. and Leptothrix sp. have the maximum Mn oxidizing property. The microtitre plate assay was performed to determine the biofilm forming ability of the isolated marine MOB species. All the results have confirmed the prevalence of Bacillus sp. among the biofilm colonizers on Ti surfaces when exposed in sea water.

mRNA profiles of piRNA pathway genes in emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis

Recent advances of Piwi-interacting RNAs （piRNAs） have enabled a better understanding of their putative roles in the protection of gerrn cells against selfish genetic elements. The germ plasm proteins namely, PIWI and VASA, are key players in regulation of piRNAs. However, the biogenesis of piRNAs remains poorly understood. We report the characterization and the transcript profiles of a PIWI and VASA gene in various tissues and developmental stages of the emerald ash borer （Agrilusplanipennis）, an exotic invasive insect pest that has attained a high impact status worldwide. The deduced amino acid sequences of both these genes （herein referred to ＂ApPIWI and ApVASA＂） revealed homology with similar proteins from other insect and non-insect taxa. Peak transcript levels for ApPIWI and ApVASA were observed in the ovaries （compared to the other tissues assayed） and in adults （compared to the other developmental stages assayed）. To our knowledge this is the first report of profiling piRNA pathway genes in A. planipennis. These results provide new insights into the putative function of the PIWI and VASA proteins in insects.

Validation of reference genes for gene expression studies in the emerald ash borer （Agrilus planipennis）

The Emerald ash borer （EAB, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire） an exotic invasive insect pest has killed millions of ash trees （Fraxinus spp.） across North America and threatens billions more. We validated six A. planipennis reference genes （actin, ACT; beta tubulin, E-TUB; glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, GAPDH ; ribosomal protein, RPL7; translation elongation factor 1~, TEF-la; and ubiquitin, UBQ） using geNorm, Normfinder and BestKeeper for accurate determination of target messenger RNA levels in gene expression studies. The stability of the six reference genes was evaluated in different larval tissues, developmental stages and two treatments ofA. planipennis using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Although there was no consistent ranking observed among the reference genes across the samples, the overall analysis revealed TEF-la as the most stable reference gene. GAPDH and ACT showed least stability for all the samples studied. We conclude that TEF-I~ is the most appropriate reference gene for gene expression studies in A. planipennis. Results obtained can be applicable for transcript profiling in other invasive insect pests. Further, these validated reference genes could also serve as the basis for selection of candidate reference genes in any given insect system post-validation.

Linear Precoder Design for Correlated Rician Fading Channel Under Imperfect CSI

In this paper,we have modeled a linear precoder for indoor multiuser multiple input multiple output(MU-MIMO)system with imperfect channel state information(CSI)at *** Rician channel is presumed to be mutually coupled and spatially,temporarily *** imperfection with CSI is primarily due to the channel estimation error at receiver and feedback delay amidst the receiver and transmitter in CSI *** with,the insufficient spacing between the antenna at transmitter and receiver persuades mutual coupling(MC)among the array *** addition,the MIMO channel is presumed to be jointly correlated(Weichselberger correlation model).When we look back on the existing precoder design,it considered spatial correlation alone disregarding joint correlation of antenna array *** all above assumption,we have designed a linear precoder which minimizes mean squared error(MSE)subjected to total transmit power constraint for MUMIMO *** simulation results proven that proposed precoder shows substantial enhancement in bit error rate(BER)performance in comparison with the existing *** mathematical analysis corroborates the simulation results.

The maintenance of genetic variation in mutualism-related traits is key for understanding mutualism evolution,yet the mechanisms maintaining variation remain *** asked whether genotype-byenvironment(G3E)interaction is a potential mechanism maintaining variation in the model legume–rhizobia system,Medicago truncatula–Ensifer *** planted 50 legume genotypes in a greenhouse under ambient light and shade to reflect reduced carbon availability for *** found an expected reduction under shaded conditions for plant performance traits,such as leaf number,aboveground and belowground biomass,and a mutualism-related trait,nodule *** also found G3E for nodule number,with83%of this interaction due to shifts in genotype fitness rank order across light environments,coupled with strong positive directional selection on nodule number regardless of light *** results suggest that G3E can maintain genetic variation in a mutualism-related trait that is under consistent positive directional selection across light environments.

Effect of bioflocculants on the coagulation activity of alum for removal of trihalomethane precursors from low turbid water

Reactivity of chlorine towards hydrophobic groups present in natural organic matter（NOM）provokes the formation of carcinogenic disinfection byproducts such as trihalomethanes in chlorinated water. The present study aimed to investigate the variations in coagulant activity of alum using two different bioflocculants（coagulant aid） namely, Moringa oleifera and Cyamopsis tetragonoloba for the removal of hydrophobic fractions of NOM and subsequent chlorine consumption by treated water. Effect of dual coagulants on trihalomethane surrogate parameters such as total organic carbon, dissolved organic carbon, UV absorbing materials and prominent hydrophobic species such as phenolic groups along with aromatic chromophores, polyhydroxy aromatic moiety have also been studied. The concept of differential spectroscopy and absorbance slope index has been employed to understand the combined effects of alum-bioflocculants on the reactivity of NOM with chlorine. Our result shows that the combination of alum and C. tetragonoloba is more efficient for reducing trihalomethane surrogates from chlorinated water as compared to M. oleifera. C. tetragonoloba elicited synchronized effects of sweep coagulation and particle bridging-adsorption which eventually facilitated efficient removal of hydrophobic fractions of NOM. The variation in the mechanistic approach of bioflocculants was due to the presence of cationic charge on M. oleifera and adhesive property of C. tetragonoloba.

Photometric study of an eclipsing binary in Praesepe

We present CCD photometric observations of an eclipsing binary in the direction of the open cluster Praesepe using the 2 m telescope at IUCAA Girawali Observatory, India. Though the system was classified as an eclipsing binary by Pepper et al., detailed investigations have been lacking. The photometric solutions using the Wilson-Devinney code suggest that it is a W-type W UMa system and, interestingly, the system parameters are similar to another contact binary system SW Lac.

Soy Protein Isolate Film by Incorporating Mandelic Acid as Well as Through Fermentation Mediated by Bacillus Subtilis

Soy protein isolate(SPI)biopolymeric films were prepared by adding different contents of mandelic acid(1 to 5%wrt SPI)to glycerol plasticized SPI by solution casting ***,SPI was fermented by Bacillus subtilis to get fermented SPI films by solution *** mass determination of mandelic acid incorporated and fermented SPI films was carried out by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE).Mandelic acid incorporated and fermented SPI films were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA),tensile strength,water uptake and optical transmittance *** indicated that incorporation of mandelic acid in SPI resulted in high tensile strength(8.03 MPa)and highα-relaxation(Tα)as well as low water *** the other hand,films cannot be prepared from fermented SPI with SPI contents of 8%and 12%.However,film from fermented SPI with 16%SPI content could be prepared but it exhibited low tensile strength(3.18 MPa)and low Tαas well as high water *** resulting mandelic acid incorporated SPI films were also subjected to antimicrobial *** all the concentration of mandelic acid,we can easily observe the antimicrobial effect in mandelic acid incorporated SPI films unlike fermented SPI *** work will be helpful in fabricating antimicrobial SPI film from renewable resources.
