Wacker oxidation is an industry-adopted process to transform olefins into value-added epoxides and ***,traditional Wacker oxidation involves the use of homogeneous palladium and copper catalysts for the olefin addition and reductive ***,we demonstrated an ultrahigh loading Cu single atom catalyst(14%Cu,mass fraction)for the palladium-free Wacker oxidation of 4-vinylanisole into the corresponding ketone with N-methylhydroxylamine hydrochloride as an additive under mild *** studies by ^(18)O and deuterium isotope labelling revealed a hydrogen shift mechanism in this palladium-free process using N-methylhydroxylamine hydrochloride as the oxygen *** reaction scope can be further extended to Kucherov *** study paves the way to replace noble metal catalysts in the traditional homogeneous processes with single atom catalysts.

A discrete gain-varying unknown input observer （UIO） method is presented for actuator fault detection and isolation （FDI） problems in this paper. A novel residual scheme together with a moving horizon threshold is proposed. This design methodology is applied to a nonlinear F16 system with polynomial aerodynamics coefficient expressions, where the coefficient expressions for the F16 system and UIOs may be slightly different. The simulation results illustrate that a satisfactory FDI performance can be achieved even when the F16 system is under the environment of model uncertainties, exogenous noise and measurement errors.

Many existing techniques to acquire dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)images are unable to accurately distinguish between bone and soft *** the most part,this failure stems from bone shape variability,noise and low contrast in DXA images,inconsistent X-ray beam penetration producing shadowing effects,and person-to-person *** work explores the feasibility of using state-of-the-art deep learning semantic segmentation models,fully convolutional networks(FCNs),SegNet,and U-Net to distinguish femur bone from soft *** investigated the performance of deep learning algorithms with reference to some of our previously applied conventional image segmentation techniques(i.e.,a decision-tree-based method using a pixel label decision tree[PLDT]and another method using Otsu’s thresholding)for femur DXA images,and we measured accuracy based on the average Jaccard index,sensitivity,and *** learning models using SegNet,U-Net,and an FCN achieved average segmentation accuracies of 95.8%,95.1%,and 97.6%,respectively,compared to PLDT(91.4%)and Otsu’s thresholding(72.6%).Thus we conclude that an FCN outperforms other deep learning and conventional techniques when segmenting femur bone from soft tissue in DXA *** femur segmentation improves bone mineral density computation,which in turn enhances the diagnosing of osteoporosis.

Differentiated cells can be reprogrammed into pluripotent stem cells,known as“induced pluripotent stem cells”(iPSCs),through the overexpression of defined transcription *** creation of iPSC lines has opened new avenues for patient-specific cell replacement therapies for regenerative ***,the clinical utilization of iPSCs is largely impeded by two *** first limitation is the low efficiency of iPSCs generation from differentiated *** second limitation is that many iPSC lines are not authentically pluripotent,as many cell lines inefficiently differentiate into differentiated cell types when they are tested for their ability to complement embryonic ***,the“quality”of iPSCs must be increased if they are to be differentiated into specialized cell types for cell replacement *** these two limitations is paramount to facilitate the widespread employment of iPSCs for therapeutic ***,we summarize recent progress made in strategies enabling the efficient production of high-quality iPSCs,including choice of reprogramming factors,choice of target cell type,and strategies to improve iPSC quality.

Carboxypeptidase E （CPE） is a prohormone-processing enzyme and sorting receptor that functions intracellularly. However, recent studies have demonstrated that CPE acts as atrophic factor extracellularly to up-regulate the expression of a pro-survival gene. This mini-review summarizes the roles of CPE in neuroprotection and the implications for neurodegenerative diseases.
