Early results of circularity and centration of capsulotomy prepared by three different methods

AIM:To compare the difference of capsulotomy produced by precision pulse capsulotomy(PPC),manual(M-CCC),and femtosecond laser assisted capsulotomy(FLAC)in relation to intraocular lens(IOL)centration,circularity and its effect on visual ***:Prospective,non-randomized comparative study conducted at Lv Prasad Eye Institute,Hyderabad,*** eyes of 52 patients were grouped into 3(FLAC,PPC and M-CCC)based on capsulotomy techniques *** consecutive eyes with uneventful phacoemulsification and with no comorbidities affecting the capsulotomy or visual outcome were included in each *** main outcome measure was IOL centration in relation to capsulotomy and *** outcome measures were post-operative visual acuity,manifest refraction and aberration profile between ***:At 5 wk the visual,refractive outcomes and endothelial cell density were comparable between the 3 *** median circularity index of FLAC was statistically significantly different to M-CCC or PPC(1-10)groups(Pvision parameters like the higher order aberrations,spherical aberration,coma,trefoil,modular transfer function,and Strehl ratio were comparable between the ***:Our study shows that despite differences in the morphology of capsulotomy produced by PPC,M-CCC,FLAC a well-centered IOL can be *** measured capsular morphology parameters do not affect visual outcomes.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc ion hybrid capacitors(ZIHCs),as an up-and-comer aqueous electrochemical energy storage system,endure in their infancy because of the substandard reversibility of Zn anodes,structural deterioration of cathode materials,and narrow electrochemical stability ***,a scalable approach is described that addresses Zn-anode/electrolyte interface and cathode materials associated deficiencies and boosts the electrochemical properties of *** Zn-anode/electrolyte interface is self-regulated by alteration of the traditional Zn2+electrolyte with Na-based supporting salt without surrendering the cost,safety,and green features of the Zn-based system which further validates the excellent reversibility over 1100 h with suppressed hydrogen *** deficits of cathode materials were overcome by using a high-mass loaded,oxygen-rich,3D,multiscaled graphene-like carbon(3D MGC)*** to the multiscaled texture,high electronic conductivity,and oxygen-rich functional groups of 3D MGC,reversible redox capacitance was obtained with a traditional adsorption/desorption *** ZIHCs containing the modified electrolyte and an oxygen-rich 3D MGC cathode resulted in battery-like specific energy(203 Wh kg1 at 1.6 A g^(-1))and supercapacitor-type power capability(4.9 kW kg1 at 8 A g^(-1))with outstanding cycling durability(96.75%retention over 30000 cycles at 10 A g^(-1)).These findings pave the way toward the utilization of highly efficient ZIHCs for practical applications.

Rational construction of flexible free-standing electrocatalysts featuring long-lasting durability,high efficiency,and wide temperature tolerance under harsh practical operations are fundamentally significant for commercial zinc-air ***,3D flexible free-standing bifunctional membrane electrocatalysts composed of covalently cross-linked supramolecular polymer networks with nitrogen-deficient carbon nitride nanotubes are fabricated(referred to as PEMAC@NDCN)by a facile self-templated ***@NDCN demonstrates the lowest reversible oxygen bifunctional activity of 0.61 v with exceptional long-lasting durability,which outperforms those of commercial Pt/C and RuO_(2).Theoretical calculations and control experi-ments reveal the boosted electron transfer,electrolyte mass/ion transports,and abundant active surface site ***,the constructed alkaline Zn-air battery with PEMAC@NDCN air-cathode reveals superb power density,capacity,and discharge-charge cycling stability(over 2160 cycles)compared to the reference Pt/C+RuO_(2).Solid-state Zn-air batteries enable a high power density of 211 mW cm^(−2),energy density of 1056 Wh kg^(−1),stable charge-discharge cycling of 2580 cycles for 50 mA cm^(−2),and wide temperature tolerance from−40 to 70℃with retention of 86%capacity compared to room-temperature counterparts,illustrating prospects over harsh operations.

Synthesis of Polypyrrole Using Ferric Chloride (FeCl<sub>3</sub>) as Oxidant Together with Some Dopants for Use in Gas Sensors

Polypyrrole (Ppy) was synthesized using Ferric Chloride (FeCl3) as oxidant. The ratio of monomer to oxidant was 1:2.4. The polymerization was carried out at 5。C. Attempts were made to increase the electrical conduc-tivity by using various dopants viz. Lithium per Chlorate (LiClO4), para-Toluene Sulfonate (p-TS) and Nap-thalene Sulfonic acid (NSA). The materials were characterized using FTIR, X-Ray diffraction and SEM. The electrical conductivity was measured by two probe method and was found to be in the range of 10-3 to 10-2 S/cm. Thin films of these preparations were casted on the interdigited electrodes to study the detection of gases such as ammonia and LPG. It was found that for the pure Ppy and one doped with LiClO4, when ammonia gas was allowed to flow in, there was a sudden increase in the current, which decreased rapidly when gas was stopped. This behavior is in contradiction to that observed in earlier investigations where Ppy was prepared by electrochemical method. However when Ppy doped with p-TS and NSA were used, the trend was reversed. Similarly it was noted that for pure Ppy and one doped with LiClO4, p-TS and NSA there was an increase in the current when LPG gas was brought in. However the response to LPG was somewhat low as compared ammonia gas.

Solubility Modeling of N-CBZ Derivatised Amino Acids in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

The experimental solubility of CBZ (Carbobenzoxy) derivatized amino acids namely N-CBZ valine, N-CBZ proline, N-CBZ aspartic acid in supercritical carbon dioxide were correlated by Soave-Red- lich-Kwong Equation state based on fugacity determination and group contribution method using extrapolated critical parameters and mixing rules and other two different empirical models proposed by Yu (1994) and Gordillo-coworkers (1999). The SRK EOS prediction showed very high deviation of % AARD of 9% - 59%. The Yu model had three derivatized amino acids with average absolute deviation from 2.04, 8.17, 10.96, while the Gordillo model had 0.245, 1.067 and 1.144 for CBZ-valine, CBZ-proline and CBZ-aspartic acid successively. The correlated values had better fit with Gordillo model. The predictive capability and applicability for these amino acid derivatives for both the models demonstrated with correlation coefficient around 0.99 for all the experimental solubility observed.

We demonstrate a superficial method for the synthesis of N-substituted 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridines using β-cyclodextrin as a supramolecular,biodegradable,and reusable catalyst in aqueous *** reaction product is in excellent yield with moderate to excellent *** mechanistic transformation presumably proceeds via a one-pot,multicomponent cyclization of dimedone in the presence of aromatic aldehydes and aromatic amines/INH,undergoing a tandem Michael addition *** proposed approach in this study provides a highly efficient and environmentally benign route to N-substituted 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridines.

Synthesis and Characterization of Polymeric Composites Embeded with Silver Nanoparticles

Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction method. The Ag nanoparticles (AgNP) were characterized using Uv-vis spectroscopy which shows an absorption band at 420 nm confirming the formation of nanoparticles. For any practical application of the silver nanoparticles it is necessary to stabilize it which can be done by making a composite. In the present studies three polymers were chosen such that AgNP could be put to some practical use. Polyvinyl Alcohol (PvA), Polypyrrole (Ppy) and Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) are important for use in textiles, electronics and food/drug technologies respectively. Polymeric composites of PvA, PPy, and CMC were prepared by mixing the aqueous solutions of the respective polymers and the colloidal suspension of preformed silver nanoparticles. various compositions containing 1% to 5% of Ag nanoparticles were prepared. Thin films of these composites were characterized by Uv-vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Scanning electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction showed the presence of the peaks at 2θ values of 38.1°, 44.2°, 64.4 and 78.2° corresponding to cubic phase of silver metal. SEM photographs revealed the presence of Ag nanoparticles of sizes varying from 40 to 80 nm. The electrical conductivity of these materials was studied using the four probe method. The conductivity was found to increase from 10–6 for control samples to 10–3 S/cm after the formation of the nanocomposites.

The investigation of medical and psychosocial problems of geriatric population in the urban area of Madhya Pradesh in India

Globally, there are an estimated 605 million people aged 60 years and above. Improvements in health care facilities have brought longevity, which is considered to be one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century. Objectives: To assess the morbidity pattern in geriatric people. Methodology: A community based cross sectional study. Results: Out of 208 aged 91 (43.7%) were males, 117 (56.25%) were females. Maximum number of males and females were from the age group 60 - 64 years. 117 (56.25%) had chronic problems and 15 (7.2%) acute. Musculo skeleton problem was the commonest (63%) complaint both in males and females, followed by cardio vascular problem (44%). Diabetes mellitus was more common in males than females and hypertension was more common in females than males. Chronic bronchitis was the commonest respiratory disorder in males (8.7%). Total 20 (9.6%) had psychological problems (depression), psychological problems more common in males 11 (12%) than females 9 (7.7%) Conclusion: The present study showed that chronic morbidity in elderly was significantly higher (56.3%) than acute (7.2%), most commonly affected system by chronic morbidity was musculo-skeletal followed by cardio vascular (CvS) and gastrointestinal (GIT). Psychological problems were more common in males (12%) than in females (7.7%). Psychological problems were more in lower socio-economic class-(v) than higher Class [1].

AIM:To summarize the experience of response to COvID-19 outbreak at a tertiary eye care institute and its network of health facilities in ***:Our responses are based on the principles of social distancing,hand hygiene,respiratory etiquettes,surface disinfection protocol,and rational use of appropriate personal protective equipment(PPE).We describe our response in terms of administrative controls,clinical protocols,staff protection,environmental controls,and social distancing *** also discuss our communication strategies and monitoring systems,to ensure compliance to ***:Administrative control is mainly related to formation of task force and its *** protocols are related to patient triaging methods and clinical examination guidelines in Outpatient,Inpatient and Operating *** protection is focused on training staff on the protocols to be followed in hospital as well as at home,and use of *** protocol is focused on cleaning and disinfectant methods to be used in the *** addition,there are systems for communication as well as monitoring compliance to ***:We hope that these protocols and our experience would help the ophthalmic community globally and serve as a guide to protect ophthalmologists and ophthalmic care personnel,and their patients across the world.
