Extracting optimal actionable plans from additive tree models

Although amazing progress has been made in ma- chine learning to achieve high generalization accuracy and ef- ficiency, there is still very limited work on deriving meaning- ful decision-making actions from the resulting models. How- ever, in many applications such as advertisement, recommen- dation systems, social networks, customer relationship man- agement, and clinical prediction, the users need not only ac- curate prediction, but also suggestions on actions to achieve a desirable goal （e.g., high ads hit rates） or avert an unde- sirable predicted result （e.g., clinical deterioration）. Existing works for extracting such actionability are few and limited to simple models such as a decision tree. The dilemma is that those models with high accuracy are often more complex and harder to extract actionability from. In this paper, we propose an effective method to extract ac- tionable knowledge from additive tree models （ATMs）, one of the most widely used and best off-the-shelf classifiers. We rigorously formulate the optimal actionable planning （OAP） problem for a given ATM, which is to extract an action- able plan for a given input so that it can achieve a desirable output while maximizing the net profit. Based on a state space graph formulation, we first propose an optimal heuris- tic search method which intends to find an optimal solution. Then, we also present a sub-optimal heuristic search with an admissible and consistent heuristic function which can re- markably improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Our exper- imental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms on several real datasets in the application domain of personal credit and banking.

Selective hydrogenation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural using palladium catalyst supported on mesoporous graphitic carbon nitride

Selective hydrogenation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural（HMF） to 2,5-dihydroxymethyltetrahydrofuran（DHMTHF） with 96% selectivity and a complete HMF conversion is obtained over palladium catalyst supported on mesoporous graphitic carbon nitride（Pd/mpg-C_3N_4） under pressured hydrogen atmosphere in aqueous media. The excellent catalytic performance of Pd/mpg-C_3N_4 is attributed to hydrogen bonding-related competitive interactions between reactant HMF and “intermediate” 2,5-dihydroxymethylfuran（DHMF） with the support mpg-C_3N_4, which leads to a deep hydrogenation of DHMF to DHMTHF.

An Improved Cooperative Team Spraying Control of a Diffusion Process With a Moving or Static Pollution Source

This paper is concerned with a control problem of a diffusion process with the help of static mesh sensor networks in a certain region of interest and a team of networked mobile actuators carrying chemical *** major contribution of this paper can be divided into three parts:the first is the construction of a cyber-physical system framework based on centroidal Voronoi tessellations(CVTs),the second is the convergence analysis of the actuators location,and the last is a novel proportional integral(PI)control method for actuator motion planning and neutralizing control(e.g.,spraying)of a diffusion process with a moving or static pollution source,which is more effective than a proportional(P)control *** optimal spraying control cost function is ***,the minimization problem of the spraying amount is ***,a new CVT algorithm based on the novel PI control method,henceforth called PI-CVT algorithm,is introduced together with the convergence analysis of the actuators location via a PI control ***,a modified simulation platform called diffusion-mobile-actuators-sensors-2-dimension-proportional integral derivative(Diff-MAS2D-PID)is *** addition,a numerical simulation example for the diffusion process is presented to verify the effectiveness of our proposed controllers.

An autoencoder-based feature level fusion for speech emotion recognition

Although speech emotion recognition is challenging,it has broad application prospects in human-computer *** a system that can accurately and stably recognize emotions from human languages can provide a better user ***,the current unimodal emotion feature representations are not distinctive enough to accomplish the recognition,and they do not effectively simulate the inter-modality dynamics in speech emotion recognition *** paper proposes a multimodal method that utilizes both audio and semantic content for speech emotion *** proposed method consists of three parts:two high-level feature extractors for text and audio modalities,and an autoencoder-based feature *** audio modality,we propose a structure called Temporal Global Feature Extractor(TGFE) to extract the high-level features of the timefrequency domain relationship from the original speech *** that text lacks frequency information,we use only a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network(BLSTM) and attention mechanism to simulate an intra-modal *** these steps have been accomplished,the high-level text and audio features are sent to the autoencoder in parallel to learn their shared representation for final emotion *** conducted extensive experiments on three public benchmark datasets to evaluate our *** results on Interactive Emotional Motion Capture(IEMOCAP) and Multimodal EmotionLines Dataset(MELD) outperform the existing ***,the results of CMU Multi-modal Opinion-level Sentiment Intensity(CMU-MOSI) are ***,experimental results show that compared to unimodal information and autoencoderbased feature level fusion,the joint multimodal information(audio and text) improves the overall performance and can achieve greater accuracy than simple feature concatenation.

研究了不同磷浓度条件下铜锈微囊藻和斜生栅藻在单独培养和按不同接种密度比混合培养时的生长状况,分别计算了各培养条件下两种藻的磷吸收半饱和常数。结果表明:在试验所设置的磷浓度范围内,两种藻增长速率均随着磷浓度的升高而增大,但是磷浓度变化对铜锈微囊藻的影响较栅藻小。在磷浓度低于100μg/L时,1∶1共培养体系中微囊藻的增长速率大于栅藻,而磷浓度大于100μg/L时,结论相反。接种密度比对两种藻的最大密度和增长率均有影响,微囊藻的增长率随着接种密度比减少而增大,栅藻则相反。铜锈微囊藻在10∶1共培养体系中增长最慢,栅藻则在10∶1共培养时增长最快。微囊藻半饱和常数随着在接种密度中所占份额的减少而减小,最小为10.35μg/L,栅藻则没有显示明显规律,在1∶10共培养体系中磷饱和常数最小,为19.82μg/L。无论在哪种培养体系中,铜锈微囊藻的磷吸收半饱和常数均小于斜生栅藻,表明微囊藻对磷营养盐更具亲和性,营养盐浓度较低的环境下微囊藻更易在竞争中获胜。

The blend morphology and vertical arrangement are critical to the performance of organic bulk-heterojunction photovoltaic *** the present paper,the authors proposed a new annealing method that controls the blend morphology and vertical arrangement of two materials by means of simultaneously applying external electrical field and violet irradiation on the active layer of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and -phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM) during annealing *** using this annealing method,the power conversion efficiency increased by 36%,which was caused by vertical phased-separated blend of crystalline P3HT and PCBM and better charge extraction of electrodes.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) was measured to prove more fullerene derivatives at the organic/cathode interfaces by using this annealing *** X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis and UV-Vis absorption spectrum analysis also revealed more ordered polymer crystallization.

Construction of n-sided polygonal spline element using area coordinates and B-net method

In general, triangular and quadrilateral elements are commonly applied in two-dimensional finite element methods. If they are used to compute polycrystalline materials, the cost of computation can be quite significant. Polygonal elements can do well in simulation of the materials behavior and provide greater flexibility for the meshing of complex geometries. Hence, the study on the polygonal element is a very useful and necessary part in the finite element method. In this paper, an n-sided polygonal element based on quadratic spline interpolant, denoted by PS2 element, is presented using the triangular area coordinates and the B-net method. The PS2 element is conforming and can exactly model the quadratic field. It is valid for both convex and non-convex polygonal element, and insensitive to mesh distortions. In addition, no mapping or coordinate transformation is required and thus no Jacobian matrix and its inverse are evaluated. Some appropriate examples are employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed element.

In this paper,a 13-node pyramid spline element is derived by using the tetrahedron volume coordinates and the B-net method,which achieves the second order completeness in Cartesian *** appropriate examples were employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed *** numerical results show that the spline element has much better performance compared with the isoparametric serendipity element Q20 and its degenerate pyramid element P13 especially when mesh is distorted,and it is comparable to the Lagrange element *** has been demonstrated that the spline finite element method is an efficient tool for developing high accuracy elements.
