Prediction of shield tunneling-induced ground settlement using machine learning techniques

Predicting the tunneling-induced maximum ground surface settlement is a complex problem since the settlement depends on plenty of intrinsic and extrinsic *** study investigates the efficiency and feasibility of six machine learning(ML)algorithms,namely,back-propagation neural network,wavelet neural network,general regression neural network(GRNN),extreme learning machine,support vector machine and random forest(RF),to predict tunneling?induced *** data sets including geological conditions,shield operational parameters,and tunnel geometry collected from four sections of tunnel with a total of 3.93 km are used to build *** indicators,mean absolute error,root mean absolute error,and coefficient of determination the(7?2)are used to demonstrate the performance of each computational *** results indicated that ML algorithms have great potential to predict tunneling-induced settlement,compared with the traditional multivariate linear regression *** and RF algorithms show the best performance among six ML algorithms,which accurately recognize the evolution of tunneling-induced *** correlation between the input variables and settlement is also investigated by Pearson correlation coefficient.

An intrinsic Faradaic layer on the surface of a metal electrocatalyst is usually considered an active site for CO_(2) *** strategies have been used to improve the performance of CO_(2) reduction by adjusting the intrinsic Faradaic ***,it is still challenging to achieve CO_(2) reduction with high activity,selectivity,and *** this study,for the first time,we improve the three parameters simultaneously by introducing a Zn(OH)_(x) over layer onto a CuSn *** find that the intrinsic Faradaic layer of Sn(OH)_(x) on the surface of CuSn provides active sites for CO_(2) reduction,while Zn(OH)_(x) plays multiple roles as an adsorption/activation layer,a cover layer,and a protective *** studies suggest that the enhanced activity comes from a Faradaic reaction of Zn(OH)_(x) during CO_(2) reduction,which can be considered as an extrinsic Faradaic *** new strategy of introducing an extrinsic Faradaic layer can deepen understanding of electrocatalytic process and offers guidance to design other high-performance electrocatalysts.

The uniform distribution of radial velocities of flow is of great importance for a cylindrical vessel with annular packed-bed (CVAPB). In this paper, a theoretical analysis for producing a uniform radial velocity distribution within a vessel is presented and a design method is established for a specially designed conical chock (SDCC). A differential equation for determining the contour size of SDCC is derived. Experimental verification is performed in a test model of CVAPB. The results show that the axial distribution of differential pressures across the packed-bed become uniform for CVAPB with SDCC and the uniformity of radial velocity is improved.

Soil liquefaction is one of the complex research topics in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. Especially after the 1964 Niigata earthquake (Japan) induced many soil liquefaction incidents, a variety of soil liquefaction studies were conducted and reported, including the liquefaction potential assessment methods utilizing the shear wave velocity (Vs) or SPT-N profiles (SPT: standard penetration test). This study used the Vs and SPT methods recommended by the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (NCEER) to examine which is more conservative according to the assessment results on 41 liquefiable soil layers at sites in two major cities in Taiwan. Statistical hypothesis testing was used to make the analysis more quantitative and objective. Based on three sets of hypothesis tests, it shows that the hypothesis—the SPT method is more conservative than the Vs method—was not rejected on a 5% level of significance.

The earthquake magnitude probability distribution is one of the underlying input data for certain earthquake analyses, such as probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. Nowadays, the method proposed by McGuire and Arabasz (1990) is commonly used for obtaining the (simulated) earthquake magnitude probability distributions. However, based on the observed earthquake data in 5 regions (Taiwan, Japan, California, Turkey, and Greece), the model did not fit the observation well. Instead, all of the case studies show that using the newly proposed gamma distribution can improve the simulation significantly compared to the conventional method.

Objective:The objective of this study is to systematically review and analyze the efficacy of acupuncture for pain caused by primary liver cancer(PLC).Materials and Methods:We searched databases,including PubMed,Medline,Embase,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals Database(VIP),Wanfang,and SinoMed/Chinese Biomedical Database(CBM),and retrieved randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that used acupuncture as the primary intervention to treat pain caused by *** investigators then screened the articles,extracted and pooled data,and evaluated the risk of bias of the included articles according to the Cochrane ***5.3 was used for the meta-analysis of eligible ***:A total of 145 articles were retrieved;after screening,8 RCTs involving 496 patients were eventually included in this *** results showed that acupuncture effectively improved cancer pain and was superior to Western ***,acupuncture was fast-acting for pain relief,prolonged the relief,and prevented *** adverse reaction rate was also significantly lower than that of Western *** significant difference was observed in Visual Analog Scale score between acupuncture and Western ***:Acupuncture relieves pain caused by liver cancer and can be used as an adjunct and alternative therapy for drug *** existing research evidence is not yet objective or comprehensive,and more rigorous clinical trials are needed to validate the results.

Reversing ventricular remodeling represents a promising treatment for the post-myocardial infarction(MI)heart failure(HF).Here,we report a novel small molecule HHQ16,an optimized derivative of astragaloside IV,which effectively reversed infarction-induced myocardial remodeling and improved cardiac function by directly acting on the cardiomyocyte to reverse *** effect of HHQ16 was associated with a strong inhibition of a newly discovered Egr2-affliated transcript Inc9456 in the *** minimally expressed in normal mouse heart,Inc9456 was dramatically upregulated in the heart subjected to left anterior descending coronary artery ligation(LADL)and in cardiomyocytes subjected to hypertrophic *** critical role of Inc9456 in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy was confirmed by specific overexpression and knockout in vitro.A physical interaction between Inc9456 and G3BP2 increased NF-kB nuclear translocation,triggering hypertrophy-related ***16 physically bound to Inc9456 with a high-affinity and induced its ***-specific Inc9456 overexpression induced,but knockout prevented LADL-induced,cardiac hypertrophy and ***16 reversed the effect of Inc9456 overexpression while lost its protective role when Inc9456 was deleted,further confirming Inc9456 as the bona fide target of *** further identified the human ortholog of Inc9456,also an Egr2-affliated transcript,***,Inc4012 was significantly upregulated in hypertrophied failing hearts of patients with dilated ***16 also specifically bound to Inc4012 and caused its degradation and antagonized its hypertrophic *** degradation of pathological increased Inc4012/lnc9456 by small molecules might serve as a novel promising strategy to regress infarction-induced cardiac hypertrophy and HF.

目的观察超声引导下胸部神经阻滞联合无背景剂量患者自控静脉镇痛(PCIA)用于乳腺部分切除患者术后镇痛的有效性和安全性。方法选择中国药科大学附属浦口中医院2022年5月至2023年5月择期行乳腺部分切除的60例患者,随机分为M组和N组,各30例。患者术后均行无背景剂量PCIA,M组于术毕在超声引导下用0.2%罗哌卡因30 mL行胸壁神经阻滞术,N组不做其他处理。结局指标为离开复苏室时(T_0)、术后4 h(T_1)、术后12 h(T_2)、术后24 h(T_3)、术后48 h(T_4)静态及咳嗽时VAS评分,静脉镇痛用药总量及补救镇痛次数等。结果 T_0、T_1、T_2及T_3时点M组患者静态VAS评分显著低于N组(P0.05),M组未发生与神经阻滞相关的并发症。结论超声引导下胸部神经阻滞联合无背景剂量PCIA能够有效减低乳腺部分切除患者术后疼痛,减少静脉镇痛药物用量。
