Mineral processing plants generally have narrow tolerances for the grades of their input raw materials,so stockpiles are often maintained to reduce material variance and ensure ***,designing stockpiles has often proven difficult when the input material consists of multiple sub-materials that have different levels of variances in their *** this paper,we address this issue by applying principal component analysis(PCA)to reduce the dimensions of the input *** study was conducted in three ***,we applied PCA to the input data to transform them into a lower-dimension space while retaining 80% of the original ***,we simulated a stockpile operation with various geometric stockpile configurations using a stockpile simulator in *** used the variance reduction ratio as the primary criterion for evaluating the efficiency of the ***,we used multiple regression to identify the relationships between stockpile efficiency and various design parameters and analyzed the regression results based on the original input variables and principal *** results showed that PCA is indeed useful in solving a stockpile design problem that involves multiple correlated input-material grades.

The main purpose of this paper is to generalize the celebrated L^2 extension theorem of Ohsawa and Takegoshi in several directions: The holomorphic sections to extend are taken in a possibly singular hermitian line bundle, the subvariety from which the extension is performed may be non reduced, the ambient manifold is K¨ahler and holomorphically convex, but not necessarily compact.

A series of azobenzene containing side-on liquid crystalline ABA triblock copolymers were investigated. This triblock series possesses the same central liquid crystal block B and various lengths of the amorphous block A. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, small angle X-rays and neutron scattering （SAXS and SANS） were used to study their morphologies. After annealing the samples over weeks at a temperature within the nematic temperature range of block B, different morphologies （disordered, lamellar, perforated layer and hexagonal cylinder） were observed by TEM. The alignment behavior of these azo triblock copolymers in the magnetic field for artificial muscle application, as well as the phase period and the order-disorder transition （ODT） were studied in situ by SANS.

Objective To evaluate the potential value of intravascular ultrasound(IVUS)imaging in the diagnosis of aortic intramural hematoma(AIH).Methods From September 2002 to May 2005,a consecutive series of 15 patients with suspected aortic dissection(AD)underwent both IVUS imaging and spiral computed tomography(CT).Six patients diagnosed as acute type B AIH by CT or IVUS composed the present study *** The study group consisted of five males and one female with mean age of 66 years *** of them had chest or back *** one patient,CT omitted a localized AIH and an associated penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer(PAU),which were detected by *** another patient,CT mistaken a partly thrombosed false lumen as an AIH,whereas IVUS detected a subtle intimal tear and slow moving blood in the false *** the four rest patients,both CT and IVUS made the diagnosis of AIH,however,IVUS detected three PAUs in three of them,only one of them was also detected by CT,and two of them escaped initial CT and were confirmed by follow up CT or magnetic resonance *** IVUS imaging is a safe examination and has high accuracy in the diagnosis of AIH,particularly for diagnosing localized AIH,distinguishing AIH with thrombosed classic AD and detecting accompanied small PAUs.

Objective: Hypothyroidism has been claimed to generate sexual dysfunctions such as ejaculatory disorders. Aframomum melegueta is an aphrodisiac plant with pro-ejaculatory properties. We investigated the protective effects of aqueous extract(AE) and methanolic extract(ME) of A. melegueta on the ejaculatory function of hypothyroid male ***: Forty sexually experienced male rats were partitioned into 8 groups(5 rats per group) and treated for 28 d as follows: Group 1, Control;Group 2, propylthiouracil(PTU, 10 mg/kg)+ distilled water(DW,10 m L/kg);Group 3, PTU + 5% Tween 80(10 m L/kg);Group 4, PTU + bromocriptine(6 mg/kg);Group 5,PTU + AE(20 mg/kg);Group 6, PTU + AE(100 mg/kg);Group 7, PTU + ME(20 mg/kg), and Group 8,PTU + ME(100 mg/kg). On days 0, 7, 14 and 28 of treatment, each male rat was paired with primed receptive female for measurement of ejaculatory latency time(ELT) and post-ejaculatory interval(PEI) for1.5 h. On day 29, each male rat was urethane-anesthetized and the spinal cord was ***, following urethral/penile stimulations and intravenous injection of dopamine, contractions of the bulbospongiosus muscles and the intraseminal pressure were registered. After these recordings,blood was collected through the catheterization of abdominal artery and plasma was used for thyroidstimulating hormone(TSH), prolactin and testosterone ***: PTU-induced hypothyroidism was characterized by a significant elevation(P < 0.001) of plasmatic TSH and prolactin levels, but a decline(P < 0.001) in plasmatic testosterone, compared to untreated group. ELT, PEI, contractions of the bulbospongiosus muscles and the intraseminal pressure were also altered by PTU treatment. Among the geotechnical in situ tests,the dynamic penetration test(DPT)is commonly used around the ***,DPT remains a rough technique and provides only one failure parameter:blow count or cone *** paper presents an improvement of the dynamic cone penetration test(DCPT)for soil characterisation based on the wave equation *** on an instrumented lightweight dynamic penetrometer driving with variable energy,the main process of the test involves the separation and reconstruction of the waves propagating in the rods after each blow and provides a dynamic cone load-penetration(DCLT)*** analytical methodology is used to analyse this curve and to estimate additional strength and deformation parameters of the soil:dynamic and pseudo-static cone resistances,deformation modulus and wave *** carried out in the laboratory on different specimens(wood,concrete,sand and clay)in an experimental sand pit and in the field demonstrated that the resulting DCLT curve is reproducible,sensitive and reliable to the test conditions(rod length,driving energy,etc.)as well as to the soil properties(nature,density,etc.).Obtained results also showed that the method based on shock polar analysis makes it possible to evaluate mechanical impedance and wave velocity of soils,as demonstrated by the comparisons with cone penetration test(CPT)and shear wave velocity measurements made in the *** technique improves the method and interpretation of DPT and provides reliable data for shallow foundation design.

Deterioration of wall paintings caused by environmental pollution is a worldwide problem especially with reference to the present industrial era. The alarming incremental trend of pollution in Pakistan has threatened the cultural assets. The deposition of pollutants on historic fabric is the main source of chemical and mineralogical alterations of wall paintings. The present diagnostic study investigated the main deterioration mechanisms affecting wall paintings of the late Mughal period, in the Begumpura Complex, in Lahore. Micro samples were characterized by XRD and SEM-EDS to identify deterioration products and understand deterioration mechanisms prevalent at the heritage site. The results revealed that red ocher, green earth and calcium carbonate were initially used for red, green and white pigments, respectively. Sodium chloride (halite, NaCl) and gypsum (CaSO4 center dot 2H(2)O) were identified as the main deterioration products. (C) 2018 Higher Education Press Limited Company.
