This paper deals with the problem of internal controllability of a system of heat equations posed on a bounded domain with Dirichlet boundary conditions and perturbed with analytic non-local coupling terms. Each component of the system may be controlled in a different subdomain. Assuming that the unperturbed system is controUable--a property that has been recently characterized in terms of a Kalman-like rank condition--the authors give a necessary and sufficient condition for the controllability of the coupled system under the form of a unique continuation property for the corresponding elliptic eigenvalue system. The proof relies on a compactness-uniqueness argument, which is quite unusual in the context of parabolic systems, previously developed for scalar parabolic equations. The general result is illustrated by two simple examples.

For n=2 many results are known since the 1980’s and a new result with a very technical hypothesis is announced.

Understanding and sustaining biodiversity is a multi-disciplinary science that benefits highly from the creation of organized and accessible collections of biomaterials （Genome Resource Banks）. Large cryo-collections are invaluable tools for understanding, cataloging, and protecting the genetic diversity of the world＇s unique animals and plants. Specifically, the systematic collection and preservation of semen from rare species has been developed significantly in recent decades with some biobanks now being actively used for endangered species management and propagation （including the introduction of species such as the black-footed ferret and the giant panda）. Innovations emerging from the growing field of male fertility preservation for humans, livestock species, and laboratory animals are also becoming relevant to the protection and the propagation of valuable domestic and wild species. These new approaches extend beyond the ＂classical＂ methods associated with sperm freezing to include testicular tissue preservation combined with xenografting or in vitro culture, all of which have potential for rescuing vast amounts of unused germplasm. There also are other options under development that are predicted to have a high impact within the next decade （stem cell technologies, bio-stabilization of sperm cells at ambient temperatures, and the use of genomics tools）. However, biobanking efforts and new fertility preservation strategies have to expand the way beyond mammalian species, which will offer knowledge and tools to better manage species that serve as valuable biomedical models or require assistance to reverse endangerment.

Although most subsidence occurs in the months and years after mining by the longwall method, surface movement is still occurring many decades after the mining. The aim of the study is to quantify the long term behavior. Satellite data(radar-interferometry) were analyzed to study an area of about 2 km^2 during the 18 years following the closure of the underground infrastructure and the flooding of the underground workings and rock mass. It was observed that, on average, a residual downward movement took place till 7–12 years after the closure, followed by a clear uplift. However, the first signs of an uplift occurred in certain sub-areas 3–4 years after the closure. Zones within the area studied were identified with either larger or smaller movements. However, the spatial variation of the surface subsidence or uplift could not be directly explained by the characteristics of mining.

Research on fabrication and properties of nanoporous GaN epilayers

Gallium nitride (GaN) epilayers with nanopore arrays were fabricated by inductive coupled plasma (ICP) etching using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) as mask. Nanoporous AAO templates were formed by anodizing the Al films deposited on GaN epilayers. The diameter of the perforations in the AAO masks could be easily controlled by tuning the technique parameters of AAO fabrication process. Cl2/Ar and Cl2/He were employed as etching gas. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis shows that vertical nanoporous arrays with uniform distribution can directly be transferred from AAO masks to GaN films in some proper conditions. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy were applied to assess properties of the nanoporous GaN films with different average pore diameters and interpore distances.
