Gold nanorods（AuNRs） are excellent photothermal agents to enable a variety of laser stimulated functional polymers. One key issue is to maximize the photothermal conversion efficiency of Au NRs. In this study, the light responsive AuNR/shape memory polymer（SMP） nanocomposites with inclusion of AuNRs of varied aspect ratios were prepared, characterized, and their laser irradiation induced bending behavior was investigated. the critical role of the on-resonance irradiation condition—a close match of the longitudinal plasmon resonance of the AuNR with the wavelength of the incident laser—has been *** allows for maximizing the photothermal conversion efficiency of AuNRs to result in the rapid and large deformation of the AuNR/SMP nanocomposites. For the Au NR/SMP nanocomposite films prepared under similar processing conditions, the close-to-resonance irradiation at a 1.27 W/cm^2 was able to induce a bending rate of 27？/s and maximum bending angle of 90.4？. In contrast, the off-resonance irradiation at a 1.89 W/cm^2 resulted in negligible response.

the maximum of k numerical functions defined on , , by , ??is used here in Statistical classification. Previously, it has been used in Statistical Discrimination [1] and in Clustering [2]. We present first some theoretical results on this function, and then its application in classification using a computer program we have developed. this approach leads to clear decisions, even in cases where the extension to several classes of Fisher’s linear discriminant function fails to be effective.

While stromal interactions are essential in cancer adaptation to hormonal therapies,the effects of bone stroma and androgen deprivation on cancer progression in bone are poorly ***,we tissue-engineered and validated an in vitro microtissue model of osteoblastic bone metastases,and used it to study the effects of androgen deprivation in this *** model was established by culturing primary human osteoprogenitor cells on melt electrowritten polymer scaffolds,leading to a mineralized osteoblast-derived microtissue containing,in a 3D setting,viable osteoblastic cells,osteocytic cells,and appropriate expression of osteoblast/osteocyte-derived mRNA and proteins,and mineral *** co-culture of androgen receptordependent/ independent cell lines (LNCaP,C4-2B,and PC3) led cancer cells to display functional and molecular features as observed in ***-cultured cancer cells showed increased affinity to the microtissues,as a function of their bone metastatic *** led to alkaline phosphatase and collagen-I upregulation and sclerostin downregulation,consistent with the clinical marker profile of osteoblastic bone *** showed a significant adaptive response under androgen deprivation in the microtissues,with the notable appearance of neuroendocrine transdifferentiation features and increased expression of related markers (dopa decarboxylase,enolase 2).Androgen deprivation affected the biology of the metastatic microenvironment with stronger upregulation of androgen receptor,alkaline phosphatase,and dopa decarboxylase,as seen in the transition towards *** unique microtissues engineered here represent a substantial asset to determine the involvement of the human bone microenvironment in prostate cancer progression and response to a therapeutic context in this microenvironment.

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)are found ubiquitously in wastewater treatment plants(WWtPs)due to their multiple sources in industry and consumer *** Australia,limited spatial data are available on PFAS levels inWWtPs influent,while no temporal data have been *** aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence and temporal trend of PFAS in the influent of two large WWtPs in Australia(WWtP A and B)over a four-year *** influent samples were collected over one week at different seasons from 2014 to *** perfluoroalkyl acids(PFAA)(*** perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids(PFCAs)and four perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids(PFSA))were detected with mean S11PFAA concentrations of 57±3.3e94±17 ng/L at WWtP A,and 31±6.1e142±73 ng/L at WWtP *** highest mean concentrations were observed for perfluorohexanoate(PFHxA)(20±2 ng/L)in WWtP A,and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS)(17±13 ng/L)in WWtP *** precursor 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate was detected over five sampling periods from Aug 2016 to Oct 2017,with mean concentrations of 37±18e138±51 ng/L for WWtP A and 8.8±4.5e29±5.1 ng/L for WWtP *** concentration of 6:2 FtS(1.8e11 folds)than those of PFOA and PFOS in WWtP A indicate a likely substitution of C8 PFAA by fluorotelomer-based PFAS in this *** trends(annual and seasonal)in per-capita mass load were observed for some PFAA,increasing for PFPeA,PFHxA,PFHpA,PFNA,and PFHxS,while decreasing for PFBS and PFOS in either ***,elevated levels of PFOS in October 2017 were observed at both WWtPs with the highest per capita mass load of up to 67 mg/day/*** some PFAS release trends,longer sampling periods would be required to achieve acceptable statistical power.

the (Na0.52K0.435 Li0.045)Nb0.87Sb0.08ta0.05O3 (KNNLSt) + x wt% LiF piezoelectric ceramics, where x = 0, 2, 4, and 6, have been fabricated successfully by the conventional solid-state reaction method. the effect of LiF on the sintering temperature, the structure and electrical properties of KNNLSt ceramics was systematically studied. the LiF addition significantly reduced the sintering temperature of the ceramics from 1100℃ to 930℃. Experimental results showed that with the doping of LiF, all the ceramic samples could be well sintered and exhibit a dense, pure perovskite structure. With increasing LiF content, the tetragonal-orthorhombic transition point (tO-t) and the Curie temperature (tc) of the ceramics shifted to the lower and higher temperatures, respectively. the specimens containing 4 wt% LiF sintered at 930℃ showed the good electrical properties: the density of 4.26 g/cm3;the electromechanical coupling factor, kp = 0.27 and kt = 0.40;the dielectric constant, ε= 744;the piezoelectric constant (d31) of 41 pC/N.

Polygonal Finite Element for two-Dimensional Lid-Driven Cavity Flow

Carbon fiber（CF） reinforced compositesusing different types of vinylester（VE）resin includingconventional VE resinhave been prepared. the mechanical performance were characterized by different tests, such as tensile, mode-I interlaminarfracture toughness, tension-tension fatigue and scanning electron microscope（SEM）.the experimental results showed that the tensile strength of CF/VE composites changed at a wide range from 22.3% to 37.8% in comparison with the CF/conventional VE composite due to resin type, where the strain at failure was varying. the tensile strength increased with an increase of adhesive strength between carbon fiber and VE resin characterized by the microdroplet test. Namely, a good correlation between the tensile strength of composites and the adhesive strength was found. On the other hand, almost an inverse correlation was found between the tensile strength of composites and the interlaminar fracture toughness of composites obtained by DCB（double cantilever beams） tests. there was no apparent correlation found between the strain at failure for pure resins and the tensile strength of *** life of CF/VE compositesincreased as well as the tensile strength with an increase of the adhesive strength between carbon fiber and the resin. the samples sometime survived 1000 times longer than that of CF/conventional VE compositewhen the maximum cycle stress was 70% of the tensile strength of the strongest composite.

this paper presents an analytical solution for the free vibration behavior of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite(FG-CNtRC) doubly curved shallow shells with integrated piezoelectric layers. Here, the linear distribution of electric potential across the thickness of the piezoelectric layer and five different types of carbon nanotube(CNt) distributions through the thickness direction are considered. Based on the four-variable shear deformation refined shell theory, governing equations are obtained by applying Hamilton's principle. Navier's solution for the shell panels with the simply supported boundary condition at all four edges is derived. Several numerical examples validate the accuracy of the presented solution. New parametric studies regarding the effects of different material properties, shell geometric parameters, and electrical boundary conditions on the free vibration responses of the hybrid panels are investigated and discussed in detail.
