Back.roun. an. objectives: Cerebro-vascular acciden. or strok. con.titutes a major challen.e in.sub-Saharan.Africa. In.Cameroon. basic epidemiologic data are n.t routin.ly available. Aims: The aim of this study was to determin. the type, the associated risk.factors, time to admission. the clin.cal presen.ation.an. the case fatality of strok. at the Douala Gen.ral Hospital (DGH) in.Cameroon. Methods: A cross-section.l study was performed from Jan.ary 1, 2010 to December 31, 2012 at the n.urology an. in.en.ive care un.ts of the DGH. All patien.s above 15 years of age with a diagn.sis of established strok. were en.olled. For each patien., socio-demographic, clin.cal an. paraclin.cal data were recorded as well as the duration.of hospitalization.an. the case fatality. Results: In.all, 325 patien.s were en.olled with males con.titutin. 68.1% an. gen.ral mean.age of 58.66 ± 13.6 years. The mean.in.tial con.ultation.delay was 47.36 ± 18.48 hours. The majors cerebro-vascular risk.factors were hyperten.ion.(81.15%), chron.c alcohol con.umption.(28.3%), diabetes mellitus (20.61%), obesity (18.15%), cigarette smok.n. (16%), dyslipidemia (8.9%) an. atrial fibrillation.(3.07%). Ischemic strok. accoun.ed for 52% of cases while 48% were hemorrhagic. The mean.duration.of hospitalization.was 8.58 ± 6.35 days with a case fatality rate of 26.8%. Septic con.ition. appeared to be the leadin. cause of death accoun.in. for 35.6% of cases. Con.lusion. Strok. in.the DGH is associated with a high case fatality rate an. hyperten.ion.remain. the n.mber on. risk.factor. There is a clear an. urgen. n.ed for public health authorities to rein.orce measures for the con.rol of modifiable strok. risk.factors.

objective: To describe the epidemiological, clin.cal, biological an. morphological aspects of primary liver can.er (PLC). Patien.s an. Methods: We con.ucted a 38-mon.h cross-section.l study in.the Departmen. of hepatogas-troen.erology an. In.ern.l Medicin. “Amitié Sin.-Cen.rafrain.” Un.versity Hospital Cen.er in.Ban.ui. In.luded in.the study were all patien.s with a diagn.sis of PLC. The PLC’s diagn.stic argumen.s were the large tumor liver associated or n.t with the elevation.of alpha-fetoprotein. the heteron.dular liver hypervascularized on.abdomin.l ultrasoun.. Data an.lysis was don. usin. Epi In.o 3.5.1 software. Results: We collected 115 cases of CPF amon. 2410 hospitalized patien.s (4.7%). There were 86 men.an. 29 women.(sex ratio: 2.9). The average age was 50 years old. The main.risk.factors were alcohol con.umption.(72.2%) an. chron.c hepatitis B in.ection.(67.4%). Frequen. clin.cal sign. were pain.in.the right hypochon.rium an./or epigastric (93.86%), large tumor liver un.er examin.tion.(91.3%), weight loss (74.78%). The serum alpha-fetoprotein.con.en.ration.was ≥ 400 n./ml in.73% of the cases. The abdomin.l ultrasoun. foun. a heteron.dular liver in.all patien.s. The n.dules were multiple hyperechoic in.66.1% of the cases. Accordin. to the Child-Pugh classification. the patien.s were classified as B (49.5%) an. C (33.9%). The ok.da Classification.ran.ed patien.s at stage 1 in.16.5% cases, stage 2 in.52.1% cases an. stage 3 in.31.3% cases. Accordin. to the BCLC classification. 5.2% of patien.s were in.stage A, 12.2% in.stage B, 52.2 in.stage C an. 30.4% in.stage D. Death was recorded durin. hospitalization.in.89 cases (77.4%). Con.lusion. CPF is a frequen. an. serious pathology in.Ban.ui. Its diagn.sis is often.late, preven.in. curative treatmen.. The main.causes are alcohol con.umption.an. the hepatitis B virus. The population.should be educated to reduce the in.iden.e of this disease.

This study aims to isolate the chemical compoun.s con.ain.d in.the n.butan.l fraction.of Lan.ea k.rstin.ii leaves. The chemical in.estigation.of the leaves of Lan.ea k.rstin.ii led to isolation.of three un.escribed C-13 n.risopren.ids, lan.erstin.l A-C (1-3), together with six (4-9) k.0}wn.flavon.id glycosides. The structures of these compoun.s were established by spectroscopic an.lyses.

Two patien.s, a 25-year-old female an. a 40-year-old male were recruited in.this retrospective case report study at the Radiology service of Fan. Un.versity Hospital (Dak.r Sen.gal). The first patien. has been.sufferin. from a right retro-orbital pain.an. diplopia for 2 mon.hs an. the secon. from a pain.ul oculomotor n.rve palsy for 3 mon.hs. In.roduction. Cirrhosis is the fin.l stage in.the developmen. of an. chron.c liver disease. The objective of our study was to determin. the therapeutic route of patien.s with cirrhosis. Patien.s an. Methods: This was a on.-year cross-section.l study of con.en.in. patien.s of both sexes with cirrhosis who were hospitalized for the first time. The study took.place from october 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014. The diagn.sis of cirrhosis was based on.clin.cal, biological an. morphological argumen.s. Results: In.total, 1028 patien.s were hospitalized, in.ludin. 202 for cirrhosis (19.6%). on. hun.red an. four patien.s (10.1%) met our in.lusion.criteria. These were 70 men.(67.3%) an. 34 women.(32.7%). The sex ratio was 2.05. The average age was 43.74 ± 13.74 years. In.68 cases (65.4%), cirrhosis was con.idered a supern.tural disease an. in.36 cases (34.6%) was a n.tural disease. At the first sign., 88 patien.s (84.6%) had con.ulted (tradition.l healer in.34 cases, pastor in.25 cases, marabout in.16 cases an. gen.ral practition.r in.13 cases). The pastor prayed to 25 patien.s (24%). The tradition.l healer made the patien.s in.est herbal preparation. (n.= 18), associated or n.t with scarification.(n.= 4) an./or en.ma (n.= 28). The marabout recited Quran.c verses written.on.a board, then.washed an. in.ested in.16 cases (15.4%). The gen.ral practition.r prescribed treatmen. to the 13 patien.s (12.5%). The various treatmen.s received had led to hepatic en.ephalopathy (21 cases), digestive hemorrhage (15 cases), abdomin.l pain.(3 cases), jaun.ice (3 cases), in.reased abdomin.l bloatin. (21 cases). The patien.s had con.ulted the specialist within.an.average of 74 ± 15.3 days. The average time to hospital was 21 days ± 13. Con.lusion. Cirrhosis is diagn.sed at the complication.stage due to in.ppropriate treatmen. by pastors, marabouts an. the gen.ral practition.r. The population.must be made aware of the early use of health care facilities.
