KINETIC FUNCTIONS IN MAg.ETOHYDRODYNAMICS WITH RESISTIVITY AND HALL EFFECT

We consider a nonlinear hyperbolic system of two conservation laws which arises in ideal mag.etohydrodynamics and includes second-order terms accounting.for mag.etic resistivity and Hall effect. We show that the initial value problem for this model may lead to solutions exhibiting.complex wave structures, including.undercompressive nonclassical shock waves. We investig.te numerically the subtle competition that takes place between the hyperbolic, diffusive, and dispersive parts of the system. Following.Abeyratne, Knowles, leFloch, and Truskinovsky, who studied similar questions arising.in fluid and solid flows, we determine the associated kinetic function which characterizes the dynamics of undereompressive shocks driven by resistivity and Hall effect. To this end, we desig. a new class of ＂schemes with eontroled dissipation＂, following.recent work by leFloch and Mohammadian. It is now recog.ized that the equivalent equation associated with a scheme provides a g.ideline to desig. schemes that capture physically relevant, nonclassical shocks. We propose a new class of schemes based on hig.-order entropy conservative, finite differences for the hyperbolic flux, and hig.-order central differences for the resistivity and Hall terms. These schemes are tested for several reg.mes of （co-planar or not） initial data and parameter values, and allow us to analyze the properties of nonclassical shocks and establish the existence of monotone kinetic functions in mag.etohydrodynamics.

甲醛(FA)作为一种有致癌风险的有害污染物,在室内环境中普遍存在.为了高效去除甲醛,催化氧化技术成为了一种既经济又节能的选择,它不仅能降低材料成本(例如避免使用贵金属),也能在无光和室温的条件下进行.本文制备了一种成本效益高的碱改性锰酸铜尖晶石(CuMn^(2)O_(4))催化剂,并用于甲醛催化氧化反应中.实验结果表明,采用碱(1 mol L^(-1)氢氧化钾)改性的CuMn^(2)O_(4)(1-CuMn^(2)O_(4))作为催化剂,在室温条件下,当甲醛浓度为50 ppm,气体空速为4777 h^(-1)时,甲醛转化率(XFA)达到100%;此外,在甲醛转化率为10%时,其稳态反应速率达到了8.18×10^(-2) mmol g.(-1) h^(-1).原位漫反射红外傅立叶变换光谱结果表明,在催化剂的作用下,甲醛分子经过二氧亚甲基和甲酸酯中间体的转化,最终被氧化为水和二氧化碳.进一步结合密度泛函理论模拟发现,1-CuMn^(2)O_(4)具有较高的催化氧化甲醛性能,可归因于甲醛分子更牢固地吸附在1-CuMn^(2)O_(4)表面,甲醛吸附所需的能量较低,以及最终产物从催化剂表面脱附所需的能量也较低的综合效应.本研究为在无光和室温条件下,高效去除空气中甲醛提供了新型高效、成本效益高且无需贵金属的催化剂,从而为室内空气净化提供了新的科学见解.

Backg.ound: The role of vitamin D and parathyroid hormone in the metabolic profile of type 2 diabetes mellitus in sub-Saharan Africa has not been adequately assessed. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of low vitamin D level and secondary hyperparathyroidism and their association with insulin sensitivity and β-cell secretory function among.Cong.lese type 2 diabetics. Methodolog.: Fasting.g.ycaemia, fasting.insulin, 25OH D3 and human parathyroid hormone (hPTH) were measured in one hundred and eig.ty-four type 2 diabetic patients followed as outpatients in South Kivu. levels of 25OH D3 65 pg.ml defined low vitamin D and elevated parathyroid hormone levels, respectively. The HOMA model was used to measure insulin sensitivity and β-cell secretory function. Results: Medians (IQR) were 25.3 (20.4 - 32.4) ng.ml for 25OH D3 and 53.7 (38.4 - 115.7) pg.ml for hPTH. 58.7% of diabetics had insulin resistance, 126 (68.5%) had low vitamin D and 80 (43.5%) had hyperparathyroidism. In multivariate analysis, hPTH (partial r = −0.28;p = 0.0002) and 25OH D3 (partial r = 0.16;p = 0.03) showed an independent association with insulin sensitivity after adjustment for body mass index and waist circumference. Finally, hPTH (partial r = 0.27;p = 0.0002) was the sole determinant of β-cell secretory function. Conclusions: This study confirms the hig. prevalence of low vitamin D level and secondary hyperparathyroidism and their association with insulin resistance and impaired islet β-cell secretory function among.Cong.lese with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vitamin D and calcium supplementation should be envisag.d for cases of deficiency in this reg.on.

Aim: Sub-Saharan Africa is underg.ing.an epidemiolog.cal transition responsible for a chang. in the metabolic profile in favour of insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to assess the dynamics of the prevalence of insulin resistance and associated risk factors in diabetic patients in the Democratic Republic of Cong. between 2005 and 2023. Method: We measured fasting.blood g.ucose and insulin levels and looked for metabolic syndrome parameters (2009 criteria) in type 2 diabetes patients in 2005-2008 (n = 176) and in 2018-2023 (n = 303). The HOMA model was used to measure insulin sensitivity and islet β-cell secretory function. Results: Between 2005 and 2013, the trend was towards an increase in the prevalence of insulin resistance (from 13.1% to 50.8%;p Conclusion: This present study shows an increase in insulin resistance in Cong.lese urban areas and a persistence of atypical diabetes mellitus in Cong.lese rural areas, confirming.the particularity of the pathophysiolog. of the disease in African areas currently influenced by the epidemiolog.cal transition. Further studies using.an appropriate methodolog. are required.
