The authors discuss the existence and uniqueness up to isometries of Enof immersions φ : Ω  R^n→ E^n with prescrib.d metric tensor field(g ij) : Ω→ S^n>, and discuss the continuity of the mapping(gij) →φ defined in this fashion with respect to various topologies. In particular, the case where the function spaces have little regularity is considered. How, in some cases, the continuity of the mapping(gij) →φ can b. ob.ained b. means of nonlinear Korn inequalities is shown.

The duration of ship-generated waves （wake waves） and accelerated currents can generate significant influences on the sediment transport. A 3-D numerical model is presented to estimate these effects. The hydrodynamic model is the 3-D Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes （RANS） equations including the standard k - ε model while the 3-D convection-diffusion model is for the resuspended sediment transport. This hydro-sedimentary model is firstly validated with the trench experimental results, and then applied to the open channel with a moving ship. The computed results demonstrate that the resuspension generation mainly depends on ship speeds, b.rge numb.r, and the relative distance away from ship. The acceleration effects of ship on the sediment transport are analyzed as well.

Afforestation in China provides carb.n sequestration and prevents soil erosion, b.t its remote impacts on climate in other regions via the coupling of forest energy fluxes with atmospheric circulation are largely unknown. Here, we prescrib. inventory-b.sed forest cover change and satellite-ob.erved leaf area index from 1982 to 2011 in a coupled land-atmosphere model to simulate their b.ophysical climate effects. b.th local and glob.l surface air temperatures show a seasonal contrast in response to past vegetation cover expansion over China:a phenomenon we primarily attrib.te to a variation of seasonality of vegetation greening. A large cooling in spring results in concurrent decreases in geopotential height over China and zonal wind over Mongolia, causing a dipole structure in the upper troposphere over the Arctic. This accounts for～58%of simulated spring warming over the Russian Arctic and～61% of simulated spring cooling over the Canadian Artic. Our results imply that spring vegetation dynamics in China may affect climate in northern high latitudes.

An experimental realization of a b.llistic superconductor proximitized semiconductor nanowire device is a necessary step towards engineering topological quantum electronics. Here, we report on b.llistic transport in In Sb.nanowires grown b. molecular-b.am epitaxy contacted b. superconductor electrodes. At an elevated temperature, clear conductance plateaus are ob.erved at zero magnetic field and in agreement with calculations b.sed on the Landauer formula. At lower temperature, we have ob.erved characteristic Fab.y–Pérot patterns which confirm the b.llistic nature of charge ***, the magnetoconductance measurements in the b.llistic regime reveal a periodic variation related to the Fab.y–Pérot oscillations. The result can b. reasonab.y explained b. taking into account the impact of magnetic field on the phase of b.llistic electron＇s wave function, which is further verified b. our simulation. Our results pave the way for b.tter understanding of the quantum interference effects on the transport properties of In Sb.nanowires in the b.llistic regime as well as developing of novel device for topological quantum computations.
