Repairing massive rotator cuff tendon defects remains a challenge due to the high retear rate after surgical intervention.3D printing has emerged as a promising technique that enables the fabrication of engineered tissues with heterogeneous structures and mechanical properties,as well as controllable microenvironments for tendon *** this study,we developed a new strategy for rotator cuff tendon repair by combining a 3D printed scaffold of polylactic-co-glycolic acid(PLGA)with cell-laden collagen-fibrin *** designed and fabricated two types of scaffolds:one featuring a separate layer-by-layer structure and another with a tri-layered structure as a *** tensile tests showed that both types of scaffolds had improved mechanical properties compared to single-layered PLGA *** printed scaffold with collagen-fibrin hydrogels effectively supported the growth,proliferation,and tenogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem *** implantation of the multilayered scaffolds demonstrated their excellent in vivo *** study demonstrates the feasibility of 3D printing multilayered scaffolds for application in rotator cuff tendon regeneration.

many forms of human hypertension are associated with an increased systemic sympathetic activity. Especially the renal sympathetic nervous system has been found to play a prominent role in this context. Therefore, catheterinterventional renal sympathetic denervation(RDN) has been established as a treatment for patients suffering from therapy resistant hypertension in the past decade. The initial enthusiasm for this treatment was markedly dampened by the results of the Symplicity-HTN-3 trial, although the transferability of the results into clinical practice to date appears to be questionable. In contrast to the extensive use of RDN in treating hypertensive patients within or without clinical trial settings over the past years, its effects on the complex pathophysiological mechanisms underlying therapy resistant hypertension are only partly understood and are part of ongoing research. Effects of RDN have been described on many levels in human trials: From altered systemic sympathetic activity across cardiac and metabolic alterations down to changes in renal function. most of these changes could sustainably change long-term morbidity and mortality of the treated patients, even if blood pressure remains unchanged. Furthermore, a number of promising predictors for a successful treatment with RDN have been identified recently and further trials are ongoing. This will certainly help to improve the preselection of potential candidates for RDN and thereby optimize treatment outcomes. This review summarizes important pathophysiologic effects of renal denervation and illustrates the currently known predictors for therapy success.

modeling height–diameter relationships is an important component in estimating and predicting forest development under different forest management scenarios. In this paper, ten widely used candidate height–diameter models were fitted to tree height and diameter at breast height（DBH）data for Populus euphratica Oliv. within a 100 ha permanent plots at Arghan Village in the lower reaches of the Tarim River, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Data from 4781 trees were used and split randomly into two sets：75 % of the data were used to estimate model parameters（model calibration）, and the remaining data（25 %） were reserved for model validation. All model performances were evaluated and compared by means of multiple model performance criteria such as asymptotic t-statistics of model parameters, standardized residuals against predicted height,root mean square error（RmSE）, Akaike’s informationcriterion（AIC）, mean prediction error（mE） and mean absolute error（mAE）. The estimated parameter a for model（6） was not statistically significant at a level of a = 0.05. RmSE and AIC test result for all models showed that exponential models（1）,（2）,（3） and（4） performed significantly better than others. All ten models had very small mEs and mAEs. Nearly all models underestimated tree heights except for model（6）. Comparing the mEs and mAEs of models, model（1） produced smaller mEs（0.0059） and mAEs（1.3754） than other models. To assess the predictive performance of models, we also calculated mEs by dividing the model validation data set into 10-cm DBH classes. This suggested that all models were likely to create higher mean prediction errors for tree DBH classes[20 cm. However, no clear trend was found among ***（6） generated significantly smaller mean prediction errors across all tree DBH classes. Prediction of indoor airflow distribution often relies on high-fidelity,computationally intensive computational fluid dynamics(CFD)*** intelligence(Al)models trained by CFD data can be used for fast and accurate prediction of indoor airflow,but current methods have limitations,such as only predicting limited outputs rather than the entire flow ***,conventional Al models are not always designed to predict different outputs based on a continuous input range,and instead make predictions for one or a few discrete *** work addresses these gaps using a conditional generative adversarial network(CGAN)model approach,which is inspired by current state-of-the-art Al for synthetic image *** create a new Boundary Condition CGAN(BC-CGAN)model by extending the original CGAN model to generate 2D airflow distribution images based on a continuous input parameter,such as a boundary ***,we design a novel feature-driven algorithm to strategically generate training data,with the goal of minimizing the amount of computationally expensive data while ensuring training quality of the Al *** BC-CGAN model is evaluated for two benchmark airflow cases:an isothermal lid-driven cavity flow and a non-isothermal mixed convection flow with a heated *** also investigate the performance of the BC-CGAN models when training is stopped based on different levels of validation error *** results show that the trained BC-CGAN model can predict the 2D distribution of velocity and temperature with less than 5%relative error and up to about 75,ooo times faster when compared to reference CFD *** proposed feature-driven algorithm shows potential for reducing the amount of data and epochs required to train the Al models while maintaining prediction accuracy,particularly when the flow changes non-linearlywith respectto an input.

BACKGROUND The introduction of fine needle biopsies(FNB)to clinical practice presents a changing trend towards histology in the endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition(EUS-TA).AIm To evaluate the clinical performance of a new FNB needle,the 22-gauge(22G)Franseen needle,when sampling pancreatic solid *** Consecutive patients with an indication for EUS-TA for the assessment of pancreatic solid lesions were included in this prospective,single-center,singlearm *** patient underwent a puncture of the lesion two times using the 22G Franseen needle and the obtained samples were directly placed into formalin for histological *** primary study endpoint was the rate of high-quality obtained *** endpoints included the length and diameter of the core specimen,the diagnostic accuracy and the complication *** From June 2017 to December 2018,forty patients with pancreatic solid lesions(22 females;mean age 67.2 years)were *** acquisition was achieved in all ***-quality histology,rated with Payne score 3,was obtained in 37/40 cases(92.5%)after two needle *** mean size of the acquired histological core tissue was 1.54 mm×0.39 *** diagnostic accuracy for the correct diagnosis was 85%(34/40).Only one adverse event was occurred,consisting of a self-limiting bleeding in the puncture *** The 22G Franseen needle achieved according to our standardized protocol a high rate of histological core procurement,and a high diagnostic accuracy,with one minor adverse event reported.

Draxler and Zessin [1] derived the power function for a class of conditional tests of assumptions of a psychometric model known as the Rasch model and suggested an mCmC approach developed by Verhelst [2] for the numerical approximation of the power of the tests. In this contribution, the precision of the Verhelst approach is investigated and compared with an exact sampling procedure proposed by miller and Harrison [3] for which the discrete probability distribution to be sampled from is exactly known. Results show no substantial differences between the two numerical procedures and quite accurate power computations. Regarding the question of computing time the Verhelst approach will have to be considered much more efficient.
