Background:Severe trauma is associated with systemic inflammation and organ *** rodent trauma models are the mainstay of postinjury research but have been criticized for not fully replicating severe human *** aim of this study was to create a rat model of multicompartmental injury which recreates profound traumatic ***:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to unilateral lung contusion and hemorrhagic shock(lCHS),multicompartmental polytrauma(PT)(unilateral lung contusion,hemorrhagic shock,cecectomy,bifemoral pseudofracture),or na?ve ***,plasma toll-l ike receptor 4(TlR4),hemoglobin,spleen to body weight ratio,bone marrow(BM)erythroid progenitor(CFU-GEMM,BFU-E,and CFU-E)growth,plasma granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF)and right lung histologic injury were assessed on day 7,with significance defined as p valueslts:Polytrauma resulted in markedly more profound inhibition of weight gain compared to lCHS(p=0.0002)along with elevated plasma TlR4(plower hemoglobin(plarged spleen to body weight ratios(p=0.004).Both lCHS and PT demonstrated suppression of CFU-E and BFU-E growth compared to naive(plasma G-CSF was elevated in PT compared to both na?ve and lCHS(plCHS and PT demonstrated significant histologic right lung injury with poor alveolar wall integrity and interstitial ***:Multicompartmental injury as described here establishes a reproducible model of multicompartmental injury with worsened anemia,splenic tissue enlargement,weight loss,and increased inflammatory activity compared to a less severe *** may serve as a more effective model to recreate profound traumatic injury to replicate the human inflammatory response postinjury.

In this paper we discuss the reasons for our work towards establishing a new collaboration between Jefferson lab （Jlab） and the Institute of High Energy Physics （IHEP） in Beijing. We seek to combine experimentalists and theorists into a dedicated group focused on better understanding the current and future data from Jlab and from the Beijing Electron Positron Collider （BEPC）. Recent Jlab results on the extraction of single- and double-polarization observables in both the lπ- and 2π-channel show their high sensitivity to small production amplitudes and therefore their importance for the extraction of resonance parameters. The Beijing Electron Spectrometer （BES） at the BEPC has collected high statistics data on J/ψ production. Its decay into baryon-antibaryon channels offers a unique and complementary way of probing nucleon resonances. The CEBAF large Acceptance Spectrometer, ClAS, has access to N＊ form factors at high Q2 which is advantageous for the study of dynamical properties of nucleon resonances, while the low-background BES results will be able to provide guidance for the search for less-dominant excited states at Jlab. Moreover, with the recently approved experimental proposal Nucleon Resonance Studies with ClAS12 and the high-quality data streaming from BES-Ⅲand ClAS, the time has come for forging a new Trans-Pacific collaboration of theorists and experimentalists on NSTAR physics.

Nonlinear Capillary-Gravity Waves Produced by a Vertically Oscillating Plate

The nonlinear capillary-gravity wave produced by a vertically oscillating plate, in which the contact-angle model is considered, is studied by use of the Boundary Integral Equation Method (BIEM). The present numerical experiment shows that the code is robust and efficient for modeling the generation and propagation of capillary-gravity waves. It is found that the wave heights of stationary periodic nonlinear waves radiated away from the plate are dependent on the parameters involved in the contact-angle model. The effect of the contact-angle hysteresis and the nonlinearity of capillary-gravity waves on the wave profile is discussed in the paper.

Observables from vector meson photoproduction by linearly-polarized photons can be expressed in term of bilinear combinations of helicity amplitudes parameterized by the Spin Density Matrix Elements （SDMEs）. These SDMEs give straightforward relations for understanding the nature of the parity exchange at threshold energies, as well as for extracting signatures of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka violation. This paper will show preliminary measurements of SDMEs for γp →φp in the photon energy range of 1.7 to 1.9 GeV （momentum transfer squared t range of -1.2 to -0.25 GeV2） and 1.9 to 2.1 CeV （t range of -1.4 to -0.25 GeV2） from the g8b experimental data collected in the summer of 2005 in the Hall B of Jefferson lab.

Broad learning system(BlS) has been proposed as an alternative method of deep learning. The architecture of BlS is that the input is randomly mapped into series of feature spaces which form the feature nodes, and the output of the feature nodes are expanded broadly to form the enhancement nodes, and then the output weights of the network can be determined analytically. The most advantage of BlS is that it can be learned incrementally without a retraining process when there comes new input data or neural nodes. It has been proven that BlS can overcome the inadequacies caused by training a large number of parameters in gradient-based deep learning algorithms. In this paper, a novel variant graph regularized broad learning system(GBlS) is proposed. Taking account of the locally invariant property of data, which means the similar images may share similar properties, the manifold learning is incorporated into the objective function of the standard BlS. In GBlS, the output weights are constrained to learn more discriminative information,and the classification ability can be further enhanced. Several experiments are carried out to verify that our proposed GBlS model can outperform the standard BlS. What is more, the GBlS also performs better compared with other state-of-the-art image recognition methods in several image databases.

The broad learning system(BlS) based on the minimum mean square error(MMSE) criterion can achieve outstanding performance without spending too much time in various machine learning ***, when data are polluted by non-Gaussian noise, the stability of BlS may be destroyed because the MMSE criterion is sensitive to outliers. Different from the MMSE criterion, the minimum error entropy(MEE) criterion utilizes the kernel function to capture high-dimensional information and decrease the negative influence of outliers, which will make BlS more discriminative and robust. Nevertheless, the computational complexity of MEE is high due to a double summation of the data size. To solve these issues, this paper proposes a new robust BlS variant based on the quantized minimum error entropy(QMEE) criterion, in which a quantization operation is used to reduce the computational complexity of MEE. The proposed model BlS-QMEE is optimized by the fixed-point iterative method, and a sufficient condition for its convergence is provided. Compared with the standard BlS and other existing robust variants of BlS, BlS-QMEE performs more satisfactorily without consuming too much time. The desirable performance of BlS-QMEE is verified by various experiments on function approximation, several public datasets, and a practical application.

The human-centered intelligent robot has become an important research field that spans all of the robot capabilities including navigation, intelligent control, pattern recognition and human-robot interaction. This paper focuses on the recent achievements and presents a survey of existing works on human-centered robots. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive survey of the recent development of the human-centered intelligent robot and discuss the issues and challenges in the field.

Background: The evolution of sexual signals is not only determined by immediate sexual selection but also by selection arising from the environment and the interaction with developmental *** this study we aimed to investigate how the badge size of male house sparrows(Passer domesticus) is correlated to avian malaria infections as well as to prenatal testosterone exposure,measured as the 2D:4D digit *** rationale behind this study is that the immunosuppressive effect of maternal testosterone deposition combined with the fitness cost imposed by parasites may cause important trade-offs to the development of secondary sexual ***: Assuming that vector abundance is a key variable associated with infection risk by avian malaria,we caught adult male sparrows from eight different populations in the Camargue,France,four of which were located in a vector-controlled area,and the other four in an untreated *** each bird we measured its badge size,digit ratio and took blood to determine its infections *** used PCR to identify the malaria parasite species and strain that caused the ***: Contrary to our expectation,prevalence of disease did not differ across the vector-treatment regions,with around 80 % of birds being infected in both areas,and those infections were caused largely by a single strain,Plasmodium relictum *** infected birds had a badge size not significantly different from uninfected males,there was a condition-dependent association between badge size,infection status and maternal testosterone ***: This study illustrates that the complexity of temporal and ecological dimensions makes the relationships between disease,testosterone-related traits and secondary sexual signals that have been previously reported less general than thought.
