The main characteristics of millimeter-wave(MM-wave)image detector were simulated by means of accurate numerical modeling of thermophysical processes in a metamaterial MM-to-IR *** converter represents a multilayer structure consisting of an ultra thin resonant metamaterial absorber and a perfect emissive *** absorber consists of a dielectric self-supporting film that is metallized from both sides.A micropattern is fabricated from one *** absorption of the MM waves induces the converter heating that yields enhancement of IR emission from the emissive *** emission is detected by IR *** this contribution an accurate numerical model for simulation of the thermal processes in the converter structure was created by using COMsOL Multiphysics *** simulation results are in a good agreement with experimental results that validates the *** simulation shows that the real-time operation is provided for the converter thickness less than 3µm and time response can be improved by decreasing of the converter *** energy conversion efficiency of MM waves into IR radiation is over 80%.The converter temperature increase is a linear function of a MM-wave radiation power within three orders of the dynamic *** blooming effect and ways of its reducing are also *** model allows us to choose the ways of converter structure optimization and improvement of image detector parameters.

Links between global CO_2 variability and climate anomalies of biomes

The global rate of fossil fuel combustion continues to rise, but the amount of CO2 accumulating in the atmosphere has not increased accordingly. The causes for this discrepancy are widely debated. Par- ticularly, the location and drivers for the interannual variability of atmospheric CO2 are highly uncertain. Here we examine links between global atmospheric CO2 growth rate (CGR) and the climate anomalies of biomes based on (1986―1995) global climate data of ten years and accompanying satellite data sets. Our results show that four biomes, the tropical rainforest, tropical savanna, C4 grassland and boreal forest, and their responses to climate anomalies, are the major climate-sensitive CO2 sinks/sources that control the CGR. The nature and magnitude by which these biomes respond to climate anomalies are generally not the same. However, one common influence did emerge from our analysis; the ex- tremely high CGR observed for the one extreme El Nio year was caused by the response of the tropical biomes (rainforest, savanna and C4 grassland) to temperature.

Effect of Osmotic stress in Early stages of Ontogenesis on Root Respiration, Growth, sugar Content,and Cell Injury in Maize seedlings Differing in Drought sensitivity

Cultivars of maize （Zea mays L.） with different sensitivity to drought were exposed to 0.3 mol/L sorbitol （-1.4 MPa water potential） for 24 h. Exposure to water deficiency significantly reduced the growth of both shoots （coleoptile and hypocotyl） and roots. shoot growth was inhibited more than the growth of roots. Osmotic stress enhanced accumulation of soluble sugars. Electrolyte leakage, a cell injury index, was slightly increased after 0.3 mol/L sorbitoh Respiration was measured in the presence and absence of 2,6-dlchloro-phenol indophenoh 2,6-Dichloro-phenol indophenol did not influence respiration rates, because statistically equal results were observed under both conditions. Total respiration （VT） decreased after osmoticum treatment. There were no significant differences in the VT among the cultlvars analysed. The decrease In VT was caused by a decline In the activities and capacities of both cytochrome （Vcyt, Vcyt） and alternative pathway （Valt, Valt） of respiration. A high residual respiration （Vres） was observed, up to 27% of total uninhibited respiration. The result of uncoupler use clearly indicated that coupling was maintained after 24 h of osmotic stress. The recovery of the respiration rate was comparable with that of non-stressed control rates. According to these observations, no possible mltochondrial damage is expected. Water deficiency did not induce a stimulation of the alternative oxidase, so we assume that the stimulation of the alternative pathway is not related to drought stress resistance; rather, the function of the alternative pathway is to balance carbon metabolism and electron transport in a response to a changing environment.

It is shown that a germ of a holomorphic mapping sending a real-analytic generic submanifold of finite type into another is determined by its projection on the segre variety of the target manifold. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for a germ of a mapping into the segre variety of the target manifold to be the projection of a holomorphic mapping sending the source manifold into the target. An application to the biholomorphic equivalence problem is also given.

An empirical movement model for sixgill sharks in Puget sound： Combining observed and unobserved behavior

Understanding the movement of animals is fundamental to population and community ecology. Historically, it has been difficult to quantify movement patterns of most fishes, but technological advances in acoustic telemetry have increased our abilities to monitor their movement. In this study, we combined small-scale active acoustic tracking with large-scale passive acoustic monitoring to develop an empirical movement model for sixgill sharks in Puget sound, WA, UsA. We began by testing whether a correlated random walk model described the daily movement of sixgills; however, the model failed to capture home-ranging behavior. We added this behavior and used the resultant model （a biased random walk model） to determine whether daily movement patterns are able to explain large-scale seasonal movement. The daily model did not explain the larger-scale pat- terns of movement observed in the passive monitoring data. In order to create the large-scale patterns, sixgills must have per- formed behaviors （large, fast directed movements） that were unobserved during small-scale active tracking. In addition, seasonal shifts in location were not captured by the dally model. We added these ＇unobserved＇ behaviors to the model and were able to capture large-scale seasonal movement of sixgill sharks over 150 days. The development of empirical models of movement al- lows researchers to develop hypotheses and test mechanisms responsible for a species movement behavior and spatial distribution. This knowledge will increase our ability to successfully manage species of concern [Current Zoology 58 （1）： 103-115, 2012].

Running Temperature and Mechanical stability of Grease as Maintenance Parameters of Railway Bearings

spherical roller bearings in railway car wheels are critical components whose failure may have catastrophic consequences. The present study aims to analyse the mechanical stability of greases and temperature of bearings as indicators for condition-based bearing maintenance. The performed case study includes nine fully-formulated commercial greases examined in the wheel bearings of five ore cars operated in northern scandinavia. The studied ore cars travelled a distance of about 300 000 km during a period of three years. small samples of the greases were taken on eight occasions to test their mechanical stability. In addition, the temperatures of the bearings were continuously recorded. After the test period, the wear, electrical damage, and corrosion of the bearings were examined. One of the findings is that the shear stress of the grease at a certain shear velocity （the certain yieldstress （CEY） value） is a good maintenance indicator and is highly dependent on the grease type. The bearing＇s wear, electrical damage and corrosion also depend on the grease type. However, no oxidation of the greases was identified. The paper also outlines a systematic methodology to determine an overall maintenance indicator for railway roller bearings which is based on the field measurements.

Algorithms for enumeration problem of linear congruence modulo m as sum of restricted partition numbers

We consider the congruence x1＋ x2 ＋… ＋ xr - c （mod m）, wherem and r are positive integers and c ∈Zm ：= {0, 1, ..., m- 1} （m ≥ 2）. Recently,W.-s. thou, T. X. He,and peter J.-s. shiue considered the enumerationproblems of this congruence, namely, the number of solutions with the restriction x1≤~ x2≤ ... ≤ xr, and got some properties and a neat formula ofthe solutions. Due to the lack of a simple computational method for calculating the number of the solution of the congruence, we provide an algebraic and a recursive algorithms for those numbers. The former one can also give a new and simple approach to derive some properties of solution numbers.
