International climate finance is a sub-set of green finance and refers to investments specifically in climate change mitigation and adaptation activities,which primarily involve public finance and the leveraging of private finance in developing *** addition to continued international support for scaling low carbon solutions and facilitating replicability in developing countries,there remains an important need to increase the amount of climate finance provided to innovation,particularly demonstration(for technology innovation)and pilot implementation(for policy innovation),and to channel a greater proportion of Official Development Assistance(ODA)to‘hard-to-abate'areas,such as industrial decarbonisation,international transport and cross-sectoral issues like cooling and behavioural insights,to accelerate the commercialisation and implementation of technological,linancial and policy solutions to contribute to meeting the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global warming to‘well-below'2℃ in these *** research,development and demonstration(rD&D)support with technical assistance is important in providing the route to obtain wider donor finance(concessional finance)and private finance to enable deployment through scalability and replicability.

The papers presented in this special issue of Integrative Zoology(and over the next two issues)were mostly presented at the Third International Conference on rodent Biology and Management(ICrBM)that was held in 28 Aug−1 Sept 2006 in Hanoi,Vietnam(for a summary of the conference,see the summary report by *** in Integrative Zoology,1(4),194–195).The conference attracted an international audience of 130 participants from 35 countries,with a good mix of developed and developing countries,and students and researchers,with a particular emphasis on supporting scientists and students from developing *** conference provided an opportunity for all participants to refresh and update their knowledge of scientific,technical and extension developments in the field of rodent *** were approximately 110 spoken papers and 50 posters over the 4 days of the conference.

Most papers presented in this, the previous and thenext special issue of Integrative Zoology were presentedat the 3rd International Conference on rodent Biologyand Management (3rd ICrBM) that was held in earlyAugust in Hanoi, Vietnam 20061 . The conference attractedan international audience of 130 participants from35 countries and provided an opportunity for all participantsto refresh and update their knowledge of scientific,technical and extension developments in the field ofrodent biology. There were about 110 spoken papers andabout 50 posters. The three main themes of the conferencewere (1) rodent biology, (2) rodent ecology, and (3)rodent management.

AIM: To examine the frequency of regular complementary and alternative therapy(CAM) use in three Australian cohorts of contrasting care setting and geography, and identify independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use across all cohorts. METHODS: A cross sectional questionnaire was administered to inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients in 3 separate cohorts which differed by geographical region and care setting. Demographics and frequency of regular CAM use were assessed, along with attitudes towards IBD medication and psychological parameters such as anxiety, depression, personality traits and quality of life(QOL), and compared across cohorts. Independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use were determined using binary logistic regression analysis. rESULTS: In 473 respondents(mean age 50.3 years, 60.2% female) regular CAM use was reported by45.4%, and did not vary between cohorts. Only 54.1%of users disclosed CAM use to their doctor. Independent predictors of CAM use which confirm those reported previously were: covert conventional medication dose reduction(P reatment(P rse effects of conventional medication(P = 0.043), and higher QOL(P redictors were CAM use by family or friends(P r communication(P r depression scores(P reviously identified predictors of CAM use, these data show that physician attention to communication and the patient-doctor relationship is important as these factors influence CAM use. Patient reluctance to discuss CAM with physicians may promote greater reliance on social contacts to influence CAM decisions.

Multiple mating by both sexes is common among sexually reproducing *** hive beetles(SHB),Aethina tumida,are parasites of bee nests endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and have become a widespread invasive *** the considerable economic damages they can cause,their basic biology remains poorly *** we show that male and female small hive beetles can mate multiple times,suggesting that costs for mating are low in this *** an invasive *** population in the United States,a combination of laboratory experiments for males and paternity analysis with eight polymorphic DNA microsatellite markers for field-caught females were used to estimate the number of mating by both *** data show that females and males can mate multiple times—females mated with up to eight males,whereas males mated with at least seven *** results also showed that *** displayed a skewed paternity,although this was not consistent among the tested ***,first or last male advantage seem to be unlikely in *** observations that individuals of both sexes of *** can mate multiple times opens new research avenues for examining drivers of multiple mating and determining the role it may play in promoting biological invasions.

An understanding of the thermodynamics of the complexation process utilized in sustaining drug release in clay matrices is of great *** characterisation techniques as well as isothermal calorimetry were utilized in investigating the adsorption process of a model cationic drug(diltiazem hydrochloride,DIL)onto a pharmaceutical clay system(magnesium aluminium silicate,MAS).X-ray powder diffraction(XrPD),attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATrFTIr)and optical microscopy confirmed the successful formation of the DIL-MAS *** quantification from the complexes demonstrated variable behaviour in the differing media used with DIL degrading to desacetyl diltiazem hydrochloride(DC-DIL)in the 2 M HCl *** also,the authors report for the first time two binding processes that occurred for DIL and MAS.A competitor binding model was thus proposed and the thermodynamics obtained suggested their binding processes to be enthalpy driven and entropically *** information is of great importance for a formulator as care and consideration should be given with appropriate media selection as well as the nature of binding in complexes.

Cannabinoids are lipophilic substances derived from Cannabis sativa that can exert a variety of effects in the human *** have been studied in cellular and animal models as well as in human clinical trials for their therapeutic benefits in several human *** of these include central nervous system(CNS)diseases and dysfunctions such as forms of epilepsy,multiple sclerosis,Parkinson’s disease,pain and neuropsychiatric *** addition,the endogenously produced cannabinoid lipids,endocannabinoids,are critical for normal CNS function,and if controlled or modified,may represent an additional therapeutic avenue for CNS *** review discusses in vitro cellular,ex vivo tissue and in vivo animal model studies on cannabinoids and their utility as therapeutics in multiple CNS *** addition,the review provides an overview on the use of cannabinoids in human clinical trials for a variety of CNS *** and endocannabinoids hold promise for use as disease modifiers and therapeutic agents for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and neurological disorders.

As JET is developing and testing operational scenarios for higher fusion performance,an increase in pulse disruptivity is being *** a deeper analysis,we find that several radiative phenomena play an active role in determining the outcome of the *** analysis is enabled by the use of real-time tomography based on the bolometer *** though plasma tomography is an inverse problem,we use machine learning to train a forward model that provides the radiation profile directly,based on a single matrix multiplication *** model is used to investigate radiative phenomena including sawtooth crashes,ELMs and MArFE,and their relationship to the radiated power in different regions of *** particular,we use realtime tomography to monitor the core region,and to throw an alarm whenever core radiation exceeds a certain *** results suggest that this measure alone can anticipate a significant fraction of disruptions in the JET baseline scenario.
