＜正＞In this paper, fault diagnosis for a class of nonlinear dynamical systems is addressed. Different from the work that was done before, the fault matrix is assumed unknown here. Based on estimation errors and qualitative knowledge of systems, a discriminator is constructed to find the true fault matrix. Simulation example of a Dc motor shows the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Synoptic features in/around thermal fronts and cross-frontal heat fluxes in the southern Huanghai./Yellow Sea and East china Sea （HES） were examined using the data collected from four airborne expendable bathythermograph surveys with horizontal approxmately 35 km and vertical 1 m（from the surface to 400 m deep） spacings. Since the fronts are strongly affected by HES current system, the synoptic thermal features in/around them represent the interaction of currents with surrounding water masses. These features can not be obtained from climatological data. The identified thermal features are listed as follows ：（ 1 ） multiple boundaries of cold water, asymmetric thermocline intrusion, locally-split front by homogeneous water of approxmately 18 ℃, and mergence of the front by the Taiwan Warm current in/around summertime southern cheju - changjiang/Yangtze front and Tsushima front; （2） springtime frontal eddy-like feature around Tsushima front; （3） year-round cyclonic meandering and summertime temperature-inversion at the bottom of the surface mixed layer in cheju - Tsushima front; and （4） multistructure of kuroshio front. In the kuroshio front the mean variance of vertical temperature gradient is an order of degree smaller than that in other HES fronts. The southern cheju- changjiang front and cheju -Tsushima front are connected with each other in the summer with comparable cross-frontal temperature gradient. However, cross-frontal heat flux and lateral eddy diffusivity are stronger in the southern cheju - changjiang front. The cross-frontal heat exchange is the largest in the mixing zone between the modified Huanghai Sea bottom cold water and the Tsushima Warm current, which is attributable to enhanced thermocline intrusions.

BAckGROUND Hepatitis c virus(HcV),hepatitis B virus(HBV),and human immunodeficiency virus 1(HIV-1)are the most epidemic blood-borne viruses,posing threats to human health and causing economic losses to nations for combating the infection *** diagnostic methodologies that depend on the detection of viral nucleic acids are much more expensive,but they are more accurate than sero-logical *** To develop a rapid,cost-effective,and accurate diagnostic multiplex polymerase chain reaction(PcR)assay for simultaneous detection of HcV,HBV,and *** The design of the proposed PcR assay targets the amplification of a short conserved region featured with a distinguishable melting profile and electro-phoretic molecular weight inside each viral ***,this diagnostic method will be appropriate for application in both conventional(combined with electrophoresis)and real-time PcR *** in silico investigations were conducted to prove the capability of the approached PcR assay to detect variants of each ***,Egyptian isolates of each virus were subjected to the wet lab examination using the given diagnostic *** The in silico investigations confirmed that the PcR primers can match many viral variants in a multiplex PcR *** wet lab experiment proved the efficiency of the assay in distinguishing each viral type through high-resolution melting *** to related published assays,the proposed assay in the current study is more sensitive and competitive with many expensive PcR *** This study provides a simple,cost-effective,and sensitive diagnostic PcR assay facilitating the detection of the most epidemic blood-borne viruses;this makes the proposed assay promising to be substitutive for the mistakable and cheap serological-based assays.

AIM:To review international guidelines and to share our infection control experience during the coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)pandemic at a tertiary eye centre in Hong ***:Infection control guidelines and recommendations from international ophthalmological bodies are reviewed and *** measures at our hospital were drawn up as per international and local health authorities’guidelines and implemented with the collaboration of doctors,nurses and administrative ***:The aims of our infection control measures are to 1)minimize cross-infection within the hospital;2)protect and support hospital staff;3)ensure environmental *** minimize the risk of cross-infection,outpatient attendance and elective surgery have been reduced by 40%,and general anesthesia procedures were reduced by 90%.Patients entering the hospital are screened for fever,travel history,contact and cluster history,and cOVID-19 related *** protect and support hospital staff,we ensure provision of adequate personal protective equipment(PPE)and provide clear guidelines on the level of PPE needed,depending on the clinical *** protective measures include provision of work uniforms,easy access to alcohol-based hand rub,opening new lunch areas,implementation of self-monitoring and self-reporting systems,and communication via online education and ***,environmental control is achieved by ensuring regular disinfection of the hospital premise,enhancing ventilation,and usage of disposable ophthalmic ***:Our multi-pronged approach to infection control is,so far,successful in minimizing infection risks,while allowing the maintenance of essential ophthalmic services.

Attention is given to the role of ca^2＋ at the interface between the cell wall and the cytoplast, especially as seen in pollen tubes. While the cytoplasm directs the synthesis and deposition of the wall, it is less well appreciated that the wall exerts considerable self control and influences activities of the cytoplasm. ca^2＋ participates as a crucial factor in this two way communication. In the cytoplasm, a [ca^2＋] above 0.1 μM, regulates myriad processes, including secretion of cell wall components. In the cell wall ca^2＋ , at 10μM to 10 mM, binds negative charges on pectins and imparts structural rigidity to the wall. The plasma membrane occupies a pivotal position between these two compartments, where selective channels regulate influx of ca^2＋ , and specific carriers pump the ion back into the wall. In addition we draw attention to different factors, which either respond to the wall or are present in the wall, and usually generate elevated[ca^2＋ ] in the cytoplasm. These factors include：（i） stretch activated channels; （ii） calmodulin; （iii） annexins; （iv） wall associated kinases; （v） oligogalacturonides; and （vi） extracellular adenosine 5＇-triphosphate. Together they provide evidence for a rich and multifaceted system of communication between the cytoplast and cell wall, with ca^2＋ as a carrier of information.

Background combinations of coronary heart disease(cHD) and other chronic conditions complicate clinical management and increase healthcare costs. The aim of this study was to evaluate gender-specific relationships between cHD and other comorbidities. Methods We analyzed data from the German Health Interview and Examination Survey(DEGS1), a national survey of 8152 adults aged 18-79 years. Female and male participants with self-reported cHD were compared for 23 chronic medical conditions. Regression models were applied to determine potential associations between cHD and these 23 conditions. Results The prevalence of cHD was 9%(547 participants): 34%(185) were female cHD participants and 66%(362) male. In women, cHD was associated with hypertension(OR = 3.28(1.81-5.9)), lipid disorders(OR = 2.40(1.50-3.83)), diabetes mellitus(OR = 2.08(1.24-3.50)), kidney disease(OR = 2.66(1.101-6.99)), thyroid disease(OR = 1.81(1.18-2.79)), gout/high uric acid levels(OR = 2.08(1.22-3.56)) and osteoporosis(OR = 1.69(1.01-2.84)). In men, cHD patients were more likely to have hypertension(OR = 2.80(1.94-4.04)), diabetes mellitus(OR = 1.87(1.29-2.71)), lipid disorder(OR = 1.82(1.34-2.47)), and chronic kidney disease(OR = 3.28(1.81-5.9)). conclusion Our analysis revealed two sets of chronic conditions associated with cHD. The first set occurred in both women and men, and comprised known risk factors: hypertension, lipid disorders, kidney disease, and diabetes mellitus. The second set appeared unique to women: thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and gout/high uric acid. Identification of shared and unique gender-related associations between cHD and other conditions provides potential to tailor screening, preventive, and therapeutic options.

Background： The importance of non-glucose carbohydrates, especially mannose and inositol, for normal development is increasingly recognized. Whether pregnancies complicated by abnormal glucose transfer to the fetus also affect the regulation of non-glucose carbohydrates is unknown. In pregnant sheep, maternal insulin infusions were used to reduce glucose supply to the fetus for both short （2-wk） and long （8-wk） durations to test the hypothesis that a maternal insulin infusion would suppress fetal mannose and inositol concentrations. We also used direct fetal insulin infusions （1-wk hyperinsulinemic-isoglycemic clamp） to determine the relative importance of fetal glucose and insulin for regulating non-glucose carbohydrates. Results： A maternal insulin infusion resulted in lower maternal （50%, P 〈 0.01） and fetal （35-45%, P 〈 0.01） mannose concentrations, which were highly correlated （r^2 = 0.69, P 〈 0.01）. A fetal insulin infusion resulted in a 50% reduction of fetal mannose （P 〈 0.05）. Neither maternal nor fetal plasma inositol changed with exogenous insulin infusions. Additionally, maternal insulin infusion resulted in lower fetal sorbitol and fructose （P 〈 0.01）. conclusions： chronically decreased glucose supply to the fetus as well as fetal hyperinsulinemia both reduce fetal non-glucose carbohydrates. Given the role of these carbohydrates in protein glycosylation and lipid production, more research on their metabolism in pregnancies complicated by abnormal glucose metabolism is clearly warranted.

The pollen tube clear zone: clues to the mechanism of polarized growth

Pollen tubes usually exhibit a prominent region at their apex called the ＂clear zone＂ because it lacks light refracting amyloplasts. A robust, long clear zone often associates with fast growing pollen tubes, and thus serves as an indicator of pollen tube health. Nevertheless we do not understand how it arises or how it is maintained. Here we review the structure of the clear zone, and attempt to explain the factors that contribute to its formation. While amyloplasts and vacuolar elements are excluded from the clear zone, virtually all other organelles are present including secretory vesicles, mitochondria, Golgi dictyosomes, and the endoplas-mic reticulum （ER）. Secretory vesicles aggregate into an inverted cone appressed against the apical plasma membrane. ER elements move nearly to the extreme apex, whereas mitochondria and Golgi dictyosomes move less far forward. The cortical actin fringe assumes a central position in the control of clear zone formation and maintenance, given its role in generating cytoplasmic streaming. Other likely factors include the tip-focused calcium gradient, the apical pH gradient, the influx of water, and a host of signaling factors （small G-proteins）. We think that the clear zone is an emergent property that depends on the interaction of several factors crucial for polarized growth.
