Direct exposure of samples to the active species of air generated by a One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge plasma (OAUGDp) has been used to etch and to increase the surface energy of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymer films, and nonwoven fab- rics. The OAUGDp is a non-thermal plasma with the classical characteristics of a DC normal glow discharge that operates in air (and other gases) at atmospheric pres- sure. Neither a vacuum system nor batch processing is necessary. A wide range of applications to metals, photoresist, films, fabrics, and polymeric webs can be accom- modated by direct exposure of the workpiece to the plasma in parallel-plate reactors. This technolopy is simple, it produces effects that can be obtained in no other way at one atmosphere; it generates minimal pollutants or unwanted by-products; and it is suitable for individual sample or online treatment of metallic surfaces, wafers, films, and fabrics. Early exposures of solid materials to the OAUGDp required minutes to produce rela- tively small increases of surface energy. These durations appeared too long for com- mercial application to fast-moving webs. Recent improvements in OAUGDp gas com- position, power density, plasma quality, recireulating gas flow, and impedance match- ing of the power supply to the parallel plate plasma reactor have made it possible to raise the surface energy of a variety of polymeric webs (pp, pET pE etc.) to levels of 60 to 70 dynes/cm with one second of exposure. In air plasmas, the high surface ener- gies are not durable, and fall to 50 dynes/cm after periods of weeks to months. Here, we report the exposure of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymeric films, and nonwo- ven fabrics made of pp and pET to an impedance matched parallel plate OAUGDp for durations ranging from one second to several tens of seconds. This paper presents the performance and characteristics of new-type sulfur tolerant shift catalyst QDB-04 and its industrial side-line test as well as the first-time industrial application in Lunan Chemical Fertilizer plant of Shandong in China. The results show that the catalyst has high strength and strength stability, good low temperature activity and stability as well as low potassium bleeding ratio which well meet for the requirements of the methanol plant on catalyst performance in Lunan Chemical Fertilizer plant.

青藏高原及邻区前成冰纪物质组成及其地质演化过程,在地球早期超大陆形成演化过程的研究中扮演了重要角色.本文系统梳理和总结了青藏高原及邻区前成冰纪沉积岩、古生物、岩浆和变质作用特征.根据现有资料,青藏高原及邻区前成冰纪沉积岩和古生物记录主要集中于中~新元古代,古元古代及更早的记录相对较少,最古老的地质记录为喜马拉雅和昌都地区前寒武纪变质沉积岩中的冥古宙碎屑锆石(约4.0Ga).青藏高原及邻区保存了凯诺兰超级克拉通以及哥伦比亚、罗迪尼亚和冈瓦纳超大陆形成演化过程的记录,其前成冰纪基底可划分为3种类型:塔里木型、扬子型和拉萨型.塔里木型基底与澳大利亚和印度大陆北缘具有古地理亲缘性,且不发育罗迪尼亚超大陆聚合相关的碎屑锆石年龄峰值和岩浆-变质记录(约1.3~0.9Ga);扬子型基底发育与前成冰纪最晚期全球变冷密切相关的火山活动记录,可见中~新元古代叠层石和微古植物化石,以及约1.1~1.0Ga与罗迪尼亚超大陆聚合相关的岩浆-变质作用记录;拉萨型基底发育新元古代早期大陆裂谷沉积记录(约900Ma)和晚期高压变质事件(约650Ma),具有明显的1.2~1.1Ga碎屑锆石年龄峰值,它很可能与非洲大陆具有古地理亲缘性.

Niche differentiation among facultative filter feeders: Insights from invasive ponto-Caspian mysids

The degree of dietary specialization has a fundamental impact on the ecological function and interactions of suspension *** niche differentiation by food particle size is common among obligate suspension feeders,its role is not evident in facultative *** this study,we aimed at providing new insights on the matter by focusing on sympatric mysid *** mysids use different mechanisms for raptorial and filter-feeding,they represent a more adequate model system than for example,the more extensively studied *** made morpholog-ical measurements on the 4 coexisting invasive ponto-Caspian mysid species to determine the areas and mesh sizes of their *** also quantified their clearance rates on the microalga Cryptomonas *** a laboratory experiment to reveal how morphological differences manifest in their overall filtering *** found relatively small but consistent differences in the primary filter area among the species,indicating that morphological constraints due to the enclosed position of the setae might limit the possibility for *** primary filter mesh sizes were small in all 4 species(0.69-2.73μm)with moderate but consistent intraspecific differences,suggesting that the benefit of being able to capture small particles might outweigh the pressure for *** observed clearance rates were in accordance with the morphological characteristics of the species,highlighting that auxiliary filters(present in one of the species,Limnomysis benedeni)are needed to increase filtering capacity *** study confirmed that food particle size can contribute to the niche differentiation of facultative filter feeders,but also indicated that they can tolerate a higher overlap than obligate *** observed differences were related to the habitat preferences and predatory potentials of the species,suggesting that complementarity among the different niche axes might further facilitate theircoexistence.

Characteristics of Extreme Rainfall Events over Uganda during September to November Rainfall Season

Understanding the characteristics of extreme rainfall is crucial for effective flood management planning, as it enables the incorporation of insights from past extreme rainfall patterns and their spatiotemporal distribution. This work investigated the changes in the frequency and pattern of extreme rainfall over Uganda, using daily datasets sourced from Climate Hazard Group InfraRed precipitation with Station (CHIRpS-v2) for the period 1981 to 2022. The study utilized the extreme weather Indices provided by the Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices (ETCCDI). Attention was directed towards September to November (SON) rainfall season with precise analysis of four indices (Rx1day, Rx5day, R95p, and R99p). The Sequential Mann-Kendall (SQMK) non-parametric test was applied to identify abrupt changes in SON extreme rainfall trends. Results showed that October consistently recorded the highest count of extreme rainfall days across all four indices. The long-term analysis revealed fluctuations in extreme rainfall events across years, with certain periods exhibiting heightened intensity. The analysis portrayed a shift in the decadal variations and region-specific distribution of extreme rainfall, with Eastern Uganda and areas around Lake Victoria standing out compared to other regions. The findings further revealed an increase in extreme rainfall for all indices in the recent decade (2011-2022) with 2019/2020 standing out as the extreme years of SON for the study period. While trendlines suggested a slight increase in intense daily rainfall events, the SQMK tests revealed statistical significance in the trend of prolonged periods of intense daily rainfall. This study contributes to the understanding of the spatiotemporal variability and trends of extreme rainfall events over Uganda during the SON season, which is crucial for the assessment of climate change impacts and adaptation strategies. BACKGROUND Cost analyses of patients undergoing esophagectomy is valuable for identifying modifiable expenditure drivers to target and curtail costs while improving the quality of *** aimed to define the cost-complication relationship after esophagectomy and delineate the incremental contributions to *** To assess the relationship between the hospital costs and potential cost drivers post esophagectomy and investigate the relationship between the cost-driving variables(predicting variables)and hospital costs(dependent variable).METHODS In this retrospective single center study,the severity of complications was graded using the Clavien-Dindo(CD)classification *** esophagectomy complications were categorized and defined according to consensus *** costing data included the in-hospital costs of the index admission and any unplanned admission within 30 postoperative *** used correlation analysis to assess the relationship between key clinical variables and hospital costs(in United States dollars)to identify cost drivers.A mediation model was used to investigate the relationship between these variables and hospital *** A total of 110 patients underwent primary esophageal *** median admission cost was $47822.7(interquartile range:35670.2-68214.0).The total effects on costs were $13593.9(95%CI:10187.1-17000.8,ppplications,and $42552.2(95%CI:8309-76795.4,p=0.015)if a key esophagectomy complication *** esophagectomy complications drove the costs directly by $11415.7(95%CI:992.5-21838.9,p=0.032).CONCLUSION The severity and number of complications,and the development of key esophagectomy complications significantly contributed to total hospital *** institutional initiatives and strategies are needed to enhance patient outcomes and minimize costs.

目的　探讨冠心病患者血小板凝聚力的昼夜变化节律以及 β 受体阻滞剂对其的影响。方法　共入选 4 6例冠心病患者 ,其中男性 33例 ,女性 13例 ;年龄 32～ 6 7(49± 9)岁。在常规基础治疗2周后 ,抽采血样 (4h一次 ,2 4h内共 6次 )测定其血小板聚集力。然后给患者服用美托洛尔 (2 5mg ,每日 2次 ) ,2周后重复测定血小板聚集功能。应用余弦拟合法分析其昼夜分布曲线的近日节律。结果　统计分析表明 ,美托洛尔治疗前后患者血小板凝聚力的昼夜分布均表现为近日节律。美托洛尔治疗对血小板凝聚力的 2 4h中值 (6 4 0 6 5 3对 6 1 6 6 3 0 ,p >0 0 5 )与峰值相位 (10 1° 98°对 115° 116°,p >0 0 5 )无显著影响 ,但显著降低了其峰值水平 (振幅 10 0 9 9对 4 0 5 2 ,p <0 0 0 1)。结论　冠心病患者血小板凝聚力存在近日节律 ,美托洛尔治疗对其昼夜平均水平无显著影响 ,但可有效抑制清晨觉醒后数小时内血小板凝聚性的迅速升高现象 ,可能有助于降低这一时段内缺血性心脏事件发作的危险性。
