Graded quantities of 1.38,2.76 and 4.14 g/kg L-methionine were included in a control diet formulated to contain 3.07 g/kg digestible *** of the 4 dietary treatments was offered to 6 replicate cages(initially 8 birds per cage)from 1 to 21 d *** parameters assessed included growth performance,nutrient utilisation(apparent metabolisable energy[AME],AME:GE ratios,N retention,Ncorrected apparent metabolisable energy[AMEn]),apparent digestibility coefficients and disappearance rates of amino acids in the distal *** also included free amino concentrations in systemic plasma(brachial vein)at 20 d postehatch and in hepatic tissue at 14 and 21 d *** L-methionine inclusions quadratically influenced weight gain(r=0.688;p=0.001)and FCR(r=0.780;ppported maximum weight gain of 1,036 g/kg and 3.50 g/kg L-methionine minimum FCR of 1.193,from 1 to 21 d *** control diet contained specified levels of 3.07 g/kg digestible methionine and 13.0 g/kg digestible ***,an inclusion of 3.465 g/kg L-methionine corresponded to a total of 6.535 g/kg methionine or a methionine-to-lysine ratio of 50.3,which is higher than standard *** implications of this and other outcomes of the present study are reported and discussed.

There has been a wealth of research that has examined the nature of rework in *** toward addressing the rework problem has been limited-it still plagues practice,adversely impacting a project’s *** all rework studies have focused on determining its proximal or root causes and therefore have overlooked the conditions that result from its *** filling this void,this paper draws upon our previous empirical studies,amongst others,to provide a much-needed theoretical framing to understand better why rework occurs,what its consequences are,and how it can be mitigated during *** theoretical framing we derive from our review provides construction organizations and their projects with a realization that the journey to mitigating rework begins with creating an error-mastery culture comprising authentic leadership,psychological safety,an errormanagement orientation,and *** suggest that,once an error-mastery culture is established within construction organizations and their projects,they will be better positioned to realize the benefits of the techniques,tools,and technologies espoused to address rework,such as the Last planner® and building information *** also provide directions for future research and identify implications for practice so that strides toward rework mitigation in construction can be made.

Impact of coronavirus disease 2019 on semen parameters

Dear editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2),the virus responsible for the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,has been associated with hypogonadism in patients with acute infection[1].Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptor is regarded as the viral binding site that facilitates entry into host cells[2].Therefore,cells that express ACE2,such as spermatogonia,Leydig,and Sertoli cells,may be susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection[2].Testicular damage may possibly be caused directly by viral invasion or secondary to the generalized inflammatory response to COVID-19[3].Studies have demonstrated that viral shedding in the semen can take place during the recovery phase,even though SARS-CoV-2 is not present in the semen of all men with COVID-19[1,4].Herein,we describe the first case report of a male with longitudinal follow-up who experienced reversible cryptozoospermia after COVID-19.

Dear Editor, plants secrete nectar to attract mutualistic animals, which predominantly function as pollinators, as in the case of flo- ral nectar, or defenders against herbivores, as in the case of extrafloral nectar （Nicolson et al., 2007）. Because nectars usu- ally represent aqueous solutions containing sugars and other nutrient metabolites （Baker and Baker, 1983）, they are sus- ceptible to infestation by microbial organisms, which can use the nectar-secreting tissues as entry sites to infect the plant. Nectar-secreting tissues thus require an efficient shield against pathogen infections. To date, our knowledge about the way that plants protect their nectar from microorganisms is rather limited. Using potential distributions to explore environmental correlates of bat species richness in southern Africa： Effects of model selection and taxonomy

We tested the prediction that at coarse spatial scales, variables associated with climate, energy, and productivity hy- potheses should be better predictor（s） of bat species richness than those associated with environmental heterogeneity. Distribution ranges of 64 bat species were estimated with niche-based models informed by 3629 verified museum specimens. The influence of environmental correlates on bat richness was assessed using ordinary least squares regression （OLS）, simultaneous autoregressive models （SAR）, conditional autoregressive models （CAR）, spatial eigenvector-based filtering models （SEVM）, and Classification and Regression Trees （CART）. To test the assumption of stationarity, Geographically Weighted Regression （GWR） was used. Bat species richness was highest in the eastern parts of southern Africa, particularly in central Zimbabwe and along the western border of Mozambique. We found support for the predictions of both the habitat heterogeneity and climate/productivity/energy hypothe- ses, and as we expected, support varied among bat families and model selection. Richness patterns and predictors of Miniopteridae and pteropodidae clearly differed from those of other bat families. Altitude range was the only independent variable that was sig- nificant in all models and it was most often the best predictor of bat richness. Standard coefficients of SAR and CAR models were similar to those of OLS models, while those of SEVM models differed. Although GWR indicated that the assumption of stationa- rity was violated, the CART analysis corroborated the findings of the curve-fitting models. Our results identify where additional data on current species ranges, and future conservation action and ecological work are needed.

A 20-Year Follow-up after the Fontan Operation in a population with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome

Unfolded p53 in non-neuronal cells supports bacterial etiology of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease has proven to be largely intractable to treatment,despite years of research,and numerous trials of therapies that target the hallmarks of the disease-amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary *** etiology of Alzheimer’s disease remains *** is a growing body of evidence for an infectious trigger of Alzheimer’s disease,and,in particular,the focus has been on the oral pathogen porphyromonas gingivalis(***).Reports of the expression of a misfolded form of p53 in non-neuronal cells(fibroblasts,peripheral blood mononuclear cells,and B cells)and serum,which appears several years before clinical symptoms manifest,may provide further support for the role of bacteria in general,and *** in particular,in the initiation of the *** review presents a model of the pathway from initial oral infection with *** to amyloid plaque formation and neuronal degeneration,via the steps of chronic periodontitis;secretion of the inflammagens lipopolysaccharide and gingipains into the bloodstream;induction of an inflammatory response in both peripheral cells and tissues;disruption of the blood-brain barrier,and entry into the central nervous system of the inflammagens and the *** bacteria *** this model,the misfolded p53(or“unfolded p53”;up53)is induced in non-neuronal cells and upregulated in serum as a result of oxidative stress due to lipopolysaccharide from ***53 is therefore a potential biomarker for early diagnosis of the presence of a causative agent of Alzheimer’s *** dental hygiene and aggressive antibiotic treatment may prevent the patient progressing to clinical Alzheimer’s disease if serum up53 is detected at this pre-symptomatic stage.
