In this paper,we investigate the impact of coronary artery dynamics on the wall shear stress(WSS)vector field topology by comparing fluid–structure interaction(FSI)and computational fluid dynamics(cFD)*** one of the most common causes of death globally,coronary artery disease(cAD)is a significant economic burden;however,novel approaches are still needed to improve our ability to predict its *** can include the unique dynamical factors present in the coronary *** investigate the impact of these dynamical factors,we study an idealized artery model with sequential *** transient simulations made use of the hyperelastic artery and lipid constitutive equations,non‐Newtonian blood viscosity,and the characteristic out‐of‐phase pressure and velocity distribution of the left anterior descending coronary *** compare changes to established metrics of time‐averaged WSS(TAWSS)and the oscillatory shear index(OSI)to changes in the emerging WSS divergence,calculated here in a modified version to handle the deforming mesh of FSI *** suggest that the motion of the artery can impact downstream patterns in both divergence and *** magnitude is also decreased by up to 57%due to motion in some *** divergence patterns varied most significantly between simulations over the systolic period,the time of the largest *** investigation highlights that coronary dynamics could impact markers of potential cAD progression and warrants further detailed investigations in more diverse geometries and patient cases.

Noble metal-surface-deposited BiOcl photocatalysts were prepared through photo-deposition and used for photodecomposition of Rhodamine B(RhB).The received materials were characterised using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS),UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-vis DRS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD) to understand the influence of surface deposited noble *** results showed that the noble metal species on the surface of BiOcl are in metallic state,which also brought about enhanced light absorption in broad UV-vis region due to plasmonic effects induced by the surfacedeposited noble metal *** the samples showed good activity in photodecomposition of RhB under UV-light irradiation,but only Ag/BiOcl was more active than bulk *** mechanism of the different reactivity of these noble-metal modified BiOcl was tentatively proposed based on the band structure and the interactions between noble metals and the BiOcl.

Because of the strong nuclear force among protons and neutrons,α-particles form a stable configuration not only in free space, but also in very light nuclei. Even in unstable configurations of heavy and super-heavy nuclei,α-decay is often observed. Obviously there is a high probability for the formation of anα-particle in such systems, which tunnels through the coulomb barrier as a combined particle.

Wetlands play an important role in the provision of ecosystem services,ranging from the regulation of hydrological systems to carbon sequestration and biodiversity *** paper reports the mapping of Indonesia’s wetland cover as a single thematic class,including peatlands,freshwater wetlands,and ***-interpreted training data were used to identify wetland formations including areas of likely past wetland extent that have been converted to other land *** indices(Shuttle Radar Topography Mission-derived)and optical(Landsat)and radar(PALSAR)image inputs were used to build a bagged classification tree model based on training data in order to generate a national-scale map of wetland extent at a 60 m spatial *** resulting wetland map covers 21.0%(39.6 Mha)of Indonesia’s land,including 25.2% of Sumatra(11.9 Mha),22.9% of Kalimantan(12.2 Mha),and 28.9% of Papua(11.8 Mha).Results agree with existing image-interpreted products from Indonesia’s Ministries of Forestry and Agriculture and Wetlands International(89% overall agreement),and with the Ministry of Forestry forest inventory data for Sumatra and Kalimantan(91% overall agreement).An internally consistent algorithm-derived national wetland extent map can be used to quantify changing rates of land conversion inside and outside of ***,wetlands extent can be used to efficiently allocate field resources in national assessments of wetland sub-types such as peatlands,which are a current focus of policies aiming to reduce carbon emissions from land use change.

AIM:To study serological antibodies in caucasians and Asians,in health and inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),in Australia and Hong Kong(HK).METHODS:Anti-glycan antibodies[anti-chitobioside(AccA),anti-laminaribioside(ALcA)],and anti-mannobioside(AMcA),anti-Saccharomyces cervisiae(gAScA);and atypical perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody(pANcA)were tested in IBD patients,their unaffected relatives,and healthy controls in Australia and HK(china).Antibody status(positive or negative)and titre was compared between subjects of different geography,ethnicity and disease ***:Ninety subjects were evaluated:21 crohn’s disease(cD),32 ulcerative colitis(Uc),29 healthy controls,and 8 IBD patient *** eight subjects were Australian(29 caucasian and 19 ethnic Han chinese)and 42 were from HK(all Han chinese).caucasian cD patients had a significantly higher antibody prevalence of gAScA(67%vs 3%,PcA(44%vs 6%,P=0.005),and AMcA(67%vs 15%,P=0.002),whereas HK cD patients had a higher prevalence of only AMcA(58%vs 25%,P=0.035),when compared with Uc and healthy subjects in both *** cD had significantly higher gAScA prevalence(67%vs 0%,PcD *** and titres of ALcA,AccA and AMcA did not differ between cD in the two *** of at least one antibody was higher in caucasian than HK cD patients(100%vs 58%,P=0.045).pANcA did not differ between countries or ***:Serologic cD responses differ between HK Asian and Australian caucasian *** genetic,environmental or disease pathogenic factors may account for these differences.

Nitric oxide and oxygen radicals induced apoptosis via bcl-2 and p53 pathway in hypoxia-reoxygenated cardiomyocytes

Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were subjected to 24 h of hypoxia 95%N2/5%cO2 and 24 h of hypoxia plus 4 h of reoxygenation 95%O2/5%cO2. 24 h of hypoxia increased the levels of NO, --23NO/NO, TBARS and LDH. 24 h of hypoxia plus 4 h of reoxygenation decreased the levels of NO, --23NO/NO, but further increased TBARS and LDH. The hypoxia up-regulated the expression of bcl-2, p53 and p21/waf1/cip1 but the reoxygenation down-regulated the expression of bcl-2, and further up-regulated p53 and p21/waf1/cip1. The hypoxia increased cell apoptosis and reoxygena-tion further increased both apoptotic and necrotic cell death. NO, -23NO/NO, TBARS, DNA frag-mentation and cell apoptosis were enhanced by SNP and inhibited by L-NAME respectively. In addition, SOD/catalase down-regulated the expression of p53, p21/wafl/cipl and TBARS but up-regulated bcl-2 and increased indirectly the level of NO, --23NO/NO, and inhibited DNA frag-mentation. The results suggest that hypoxia-induced cell death is associated with the activation of NO, bcl-2 and p53 pathway, while hypoxia-reoxygenation induced cell death via the generation of reactive oxygen species and activation of p53 pathway. The present study clarified that NO may be an initiative signal to apoptotic cell death and the activation of bcl-2, p53 and p21/waf1/cip1 path-way in hypoxic and hypoxia-reoxygenated cardiomyocytes.

Fractures around the shoulder girdle in children are mainly caused by sports *** clavicle and the proximal humerus are most commonly *** the clavicle and the proximal humerus have a remarkable potential for remodeling,which is why most of these fractures in children can be treated ***,the key is to understand when a child benefits from surgical *** indications for surgery of these fractures are *** review focuses on the available evidence on the management of clavicle and proximal humerus fractures in *** only strict indications for surgery for diaphyseal clavicle fractures in children are open fractures,tenting of the skin with necrosis,associated neurovascular injury,or a floating *** is no evidence to argue for surgery of displaced clavicle fractures to prevent malunion since most malunions are *** the rare case of a symptomatic malunion of the clavicle in children,corrective osteosynthesis is a viable treatment *** proximal humerus fractures in children,treatment is dictated by the patient's age(and thus remodeling potential)and the amount of fracture *** ten years of age,even severely displaced fractures can be treated *** the age of 13 and onwards,surgery has better outcomes for severely displaced(Neer types III and IV)*** 10 and 13 years of age,the indications for surgical treatment are less clear,with varying cut-off values of angulation(30-60 degrees)or displacement(1/3–2/3 shaft width)in the current literature.
