Revealing True and False Brain States Based on Wavelet Analysis of Electroencephalogram

Statement of the Problem: As you know, there exist two different states in the brain’s mental activity: true and false. In recent years, a progressive method of wavelet transformation of the electroencephalogram (EEG) has been developed, which enabled us to establish the fundamental possibility of direct objective registration of the human brain’s mental activity. Earlier, we created an experimental model and software for recognizing true and false mental responses of a person based on the EEG wavelet transformation and described it in the article. The developed experimental model and information software made it possible to compare the two mental states of brain activity by electroencephalographic indicators, one of which is false and the other is true. The goal is to develop a fundamentally new information technology for recognizing true and false states in the brain’s mental activity based on the wavelet transformation of the electroencephalogram. Results: It was revealed that the true and false states of the brain can be distinguished using the method of continuous wavelet transformation and calculation of the EEG wavelet energy. It is shown that the main differences between true and false mental responses are observed in the delta and alpha ranges of the EEG. In the EEG delta rhythm, the wavelet energy is reliably higher in case of a false answer compared to a true one. In the EEG alpha rhythm, the wavelet energy is significantly higher with a true answer than a false one. Practical significance of the research: The data obtained open up the fundamental possibility of identifying true and false mental states of the brain on the basis of continuous wavelet transformation and calculation of the EEG wavelet energy.

The diagnosis of disease and prescription of therapy are mainly realized through the control of physiological functions in humans during wakefulness. However, little attention is paid to evaluate the functional state of a patient in sleep. The efficiency of prescribed medicines is also determined in wakefulness. The effects of these drugs during sleep are usually out-of-sight of a physician. Human psychoemotional state during wakefulness is closely related to sleep. Various serious disturbances in physiological functions appear during the night sleep. They include cardiovascular disorders （hypertensive crisis, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, stroke, etc.）, which may cause sudden death. A large body of evidence shows that stress is followed by sleep disorders. They serve as a factor, which contributes to the development of stress. It should be noted that sleep is the major anti-stress factor. The vicious circle is formed, which can be revealed by a complex control of human physiological functions during wakefulness and sleep. We developed a new methodology and constructed an information-and-equipment device for monitoring of vital physiological functions of humans during sleep in a real everyday life. This approach holds much promise for the diagnosis of disease and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy.

Immune infiltration in human tumors is a key prognostic *** this aspect it has to be noted that the publications concerning the tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs)under overweight and obesity are limited,especially in the clinical setting in particular concerning gastric *** study has shown that density of TILs consistently associated with body mass index(BMI)and density of cancer-associated adipocytes(CAA)in tumors,decreased significantly in patients with BMI>30 having high density of *** in tumor does not affect this *** with BMI>30 having high density of CAA with slight infiltrating of TILs in tumors demonstrated better overall survival than the same patients with BMI<25 whereas the same patients with BMI<25 but with low density of CAA have shown much longer overall *** of TILs in BM was not affected by both the high density of CAA and level of hypoxia in primary tumor;moreover it has not been associated with BMI as well as patients survival *** the metabolic changes that occur in obese individuals may help to pave the way for more effective treatments for patients with gastric cancer having overweight.

Several bacterial strains of Actinomycetes belonging to Streptomyces and Arthrobacter genera for the first time were used to study the biotechnology of synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles. The experimental conditions of gold and silver nanoparticles production by the cells of studied strains in aqueous chloroauric acid （HAuCIq） and in silver nitrate （AgNO3） solutions, respectively, were determined. Concentration and time-dependences of nanoparticle formation were investigated. The complex of optical and analytical methods was used for testing the gold and silver nanoparticles in the bacterial biomass. The TEM （Transmission Electron Microscopy） and XRD （X-ray Diffraction） data in all cases demonstrated the presence of crystals with fcc （face centered cubic） structure. The results obtained show that the Actinomycetes are capable of producing gold and silver nanoparticles of spherical shape extracellularly when exposed to suitable compounds. The particle size distribution shows that the sizes of nanoparticles are in the range of 5 nm to 80 nm. The biomass obtained may be used for industrial as well as medical and pharmaceutical purposes.

The synthesis of gold nanoparticles by two novel strains of Arthrobacter sp. 61B and Arthrobacter globiformis 151B isolated from basalt rocks in Georgia was studied. The complex of optical and analytical methods was applied for investigation of experimental samples after exposure to gold chloroaurate (HAuCl4) for different time intervals. To characterize formed gold nanoparticles UV-Vis spectrometry, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used. It was shown that after 1.5-2 days the extracellular formation of nanoparticles of spherical form with size in the range of 8-40 nm (on average of 20 nm) took place. To determine gold concentrations in the bacterial biomass neutron activation analysis (NAA) and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) were applied. The results obtained evidence that the concentration of gold accumulated by bacterial biomass is rapidly growing in the beginning followed by an insignificant increase during the next few days.
