Theoretical and experimental investigation of the resonance responses and chaotic dynamics of a bistable laminated composite shell in the dynamic snap-through mode

The dynamic model of a bistable laminated composite shell simply supported by four corners is further developed to investigate the resonance responses and chaotic behaviors.The existence of the 1:1 resonance relationship between two order vibration modes of the system is verified.The resonance response of this class of bistable structures in the dynamic snap-through mode is investigated,and the four-dimensional(4D)nonlinear modulation equations are derived based on the 1:1 internal resonance relationship by means of the multiple scales method.The Hopf bifurcation and instability interval of the amplitude frequency and force amplitude curves are analyzed.The discussion focuses on investigating the effects of key parameters,e.g.,excitation amplitude,damping coefficient,and detuning parameters,on the resonance responses.The numerical simulations show that the foundation excitation and the degree of coupling between the vibration modes exert a substantial effect on the chaotic dynamics of the system.Furthermore,the significant motions under particular excitation conditions are visualized by bifurcation diagrams,time histories,phase portraits,three-dimensional(3D)phase portraits,and Poincare maps.Finally,the vibration experiment is carried out to study the amplitude frequency responses and bifurcation characteristics for the bistable laminated composite shell,yielding results that are qualitatively consistent with the theoretical results.

Comprehensive understanding of glioblastoma molecular phenotypes: classification, characteristics, and transition

Among central nervous system-associated malignancies, glioblastoma(GBM) is the most common and has the highest mortality rate. The high heterogeneity of GBM cell types and the complex tumor microenvironment frequently lead to tumor recurrence and sudden relapse in patients treated with temozolomide. In precision medicine, research on GBM treatment is increasingly focusing on molecular subtyping to precisely characterize the cellular and molecular heterogeneity, as well as the refractory nature of GBM toward therapy. Deep understanding of the different molecular expression patterns of GBM subtypes is critical. Researchers have recently proposed tetra fractional or tripartite methods for detecting GBM molecular subtypes. The various molecular subtypes of GBM show significant differences in gene expression patterns and biological behaviors. These subtypes also exhibit high plasticity in their regulatory pathways, oncogene expression, tumor microenvironment alterations, and differential responses to standard therapy. Herein, we summarize the current molecular typing scheme of GBM and the major molecular/genetic characteristics of each subtype. Furthermore, we review the mesenchymal transition mechanisms of GBM under various regulators.

Injectable“cocktail”hydrogel with dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic effect

The combination of the first-line standard chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin hydrochloride(DOX)and the molecular-targeted drug Herceptin(HCT)has emerged as a promising strategy for human epidermal growth receptor 2(HER-2)overexpressing breast cancer treatment.However,insufficient drug accumulation and severe cardiotoxicity are two major challenges that limit its clinical application.Herein,an in situ forming gold nanorods(AuNRs)-sodium alginate(ALG)hybrid hydrogel encapsulating DOX and HCT was engineered for tumor synergistic therapy involving injectable,dual-stimuli-responsive drug release,photothermal ablation,and drug-antibody synergistic therapy.The photothermal agent AuNRs,anticancer drug DOX,and anticancer antibody HCT were mixed in ALG solution,and after injection,the soluble ALG was quickly transformed into a hydrogel in the presence of Ca^(2+)in the body.Significantly,the hybrid hydrogel exhibits an extremely high photothermal conversion efficiency of 70%under 808 nm laser irradiation.The thermal effect can also provide photothermal stimulation to trigger the drug release from the gel matrix.In addition,the drug release rate and the releasing degree are also sensitive to the pH.In vitro studies demonstrated that the PEI-AuNR/DOX/HCT/ALG hydrogel has facilitated the therapeutic efficiency of each payload and demonstrated a strong synergistic killing effect on SK-BR-3 cells.In vivo imaging results showed that the local drug delivery system can effectively reduce the nonspecific distribution in normal tissues and increase drug concentration at tumor sites.The proposed hydrogel system shows significant clinical implications by easily introducing a sustainable photothermal therapy and a potential universal carrier for the local delivery of multiple drugs to overcome the challenges faced in HER-2 overexpressing cancer therapy.

In recent years, with the emergence of non-fullerene fused-ring acceptors, power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of organic solar cells (OSCs) have exceeded 19%.However, compared to inorganic or perovskite photovoltaic cells, a higher voltage loss has become one of the key factors limiting further improvement in the PCEs of OSCs.The ternary/quaternary strategy has been identified as a feasible and effective way to obtain high-efficiency OSCs.In this review, a brief outline is given of the key roles that guest materials played in reducing voltage losses in solar cell devices and a brief look at the future material design and the design of ternary/quaternary systems.

Theoretical Analysis of the Buckling Behaviors of Inhomogeneous Shape Memory Polymer Composite Laminates Considering Prestrains

The mismatch in thermal expansion coefficients between the fiber-rich and resin-rich regions of a shape memory polymer composite(SMPC)laminate,along with the residual strain during SMPC fabrication,results in buckling deformation of the inhomogeneous laminate.This paper presents a macroscopic model for buckling of an inhomogeneous SMPC laminate under initial biaxial prestrains.Both linear and nonlinear buckling analyses are carried out using the energy method.The influences of prestrain biaxiality,temperature,and ply angle on the buckling wavelength,critical buckling prestrain,and buckling amplitude are calculated.The results demonstrate that the critical buckling wavelength of the SMPC laminate is independent of the prestrain,while the amplitude is almost independent of temperature.In addition,the optimal fiber stacking configuration with the maximum critical buckling prestrains of inhomogeneous SMPC laminates is determined by a genetic algorithm.

Novel Static Security and Stability Control of Power Systems Based on Artificial Emotional Lazy Q-Learning

The stability problem of power grids has become increasingly serious in recent years as the size of novel power systems increases.In order to improve and ensure the stable operation of the novel power system,this study proposes an artificial emotional lazy Q-learning method,which combines artificial emotion,lazy learning,and reinforcement learning for static security and stability analysis of power systems.Moreover,this study compares the analysis results of the proposed method with those of the small disturbance method for a stand-alone power system and verifies that the proposed lazy Q-learning method is able to effectively screen useful data for learning,and improve the static security stability of the new type of power system more effectively than the traditional proportional-integral-differential control and Q-learning methods.

Modulating planarity of cyanine dye to construct highly stable Haggregates for enhanced photothermal therapy

Self-assembly of dyes has become a flexible strategy to modulate their photophysical properties.H-aggregates show great potential to increase heat generation,while the precise designing of H-aggregates as efficient photothermal agents is still challenging.Herein,a quinoline cyanine(QCy)is developed for constructing stable H-aggregated nanoparticles(NPs)to significantly enhance photostability and photothermal conversion efficiency(PCE).With symmetrical rigid planar quinoline structures,QCy has a small and symmetrical dihedral angle(11.9°),which ensures excellent molecular planarity.In aqueous solution,the planar QCy can form closeπ–πmolecular stacking,and fast self-assemble into stable H-aggregates even at low concentrations(1×10−7 M).QCy H-aggregates are sphere-like NPs(QCy NPs)with an average diameter of 120 nm and exhibit high stability.H-aggregation of QCy significantly enhances PCE from 20.1%(non-H-aggregated QCy)to 63.8%(QCy NPs).In addition,the positive charge of quaternarized quinoline provides mitochondrial anchoring ability,which further enhances the photothermal effect.With high PCE and tumor accumulation,QCy NPs in low-doses have been successfully used in photoacoustic imaging-guided tumor photothermal therapy.

Multi-functional vesicles improve Helicobacter pylori eradication by a comprehensive strategy based on complex pathological microenvironment

Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori),creating a global infection rate over 50%,presents great challenges in clinical therapies due to its complex pathological microenvironment in vivo.To improve the eradication efficacy,herein we fabricated a pharmaceutical vesicle RHL/Cl-Ch-cal where cholesterol-PEG,calcitriol and first-line antibiotic clarithromycin were co-loaded in the rhamnolipid-composed outer lipid layer.RHL/Cl-Ch-cal could quickly penetrate through gastric mucus layer to reach H.pylori infection sites,and then effectively destroyed the architecture of H.pylori biofilms,killed dispersed H.pylori and inhibited the re-adhesion of residual bacteria(called biofilms eradication tetralogy).Moreover,RHL/Cl-Ch-cal activated the host immune response to H.pylori by replenishing cholesterol to repair lipid raft on the cell membrane of host epithelial cells.Finally,RHL/Cl-Ch-cal killed the intracellular H.pylori through recovering the lysosomal acidification and assisting degradation.In experiments,RHL/Cl-Ch-cal demonstrated prominent anti-H.pylori efficacy in the classical H.pylori-infected mice model.Therefore,the study provides a“comprehensive attack”strategy for anti-H.pylori therapies including biofilms eradication tetralogy,immune activation and intracellular bacteria killing.

Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is a chronic inflammatory and destructive arthritis, characterized by inflammatory infiltration and bone destruction. Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction(HGWD) is traditional Chinese medicine, which has been applied in the treatment of RA in clinical. The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effect of HGWD on collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) mouse model.Methods: DBA/1J female mice were used to establish the collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) model. HGWD was administered intragastrically once a day for four weeks starting on the 22nd day after the first immunization. The body weight, hind paw thickness and clinical score were measured every five days. Gait analysis, histopathological staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(EliSA), ultrasound imaging and micro-computed tomography imaging were performed to determine the effects of HGWD treatment on inflammation and bone structure in this model. Moreover, Real-time PCR and Western blot analysis were used to detect inflammatory factors m RNA and protein levels after HGWD intervention in RAW264.7 cells.Results: HGWD attenuated symptoms of arthritis, suppressed inflammatory synovium area and the serum levels of inflammatory factors, inhibited joint space enlargement in the knee and ankle joints,reduced numbers of osteoclasts, protected bone destruction, as well as improved motor function.HGWD decreased the expression of m RNA for inflammatory factors and the protein expression levels of p-NF-ΚB and IL-17.Conclusion: These results suggested that HGWD suppresses inflammation, attenuates bone erosion and maintains motor function in collagen-induced arthritis mice.

管状上皮组织是组成多种器官的基本结构,其形态发生涉及到细胞变形、生化信号转导,以及细胞之间和细胞与细胞外基质之间的相互作用.目前尚未完全清楚力学和生化信号之间的相互作用如何调节该形态学过程.本文构建了耦合生化信号通路的三维细胞顶点模型,用于探究管状组织的形态发生.数值计算结果表明管腔尺寸受到细胞和细胞外基质的力学性质的影响,且细胞的力学-化学耦合的变形可以激发斑点状和条带状的超细胞肌动球蛋白斑图,进而介导组织形成波浪形和竹节形的管腔结构,该过程会受到化学扩散强度的调节.本研究突显了力学-化学相互作用在生物组织形态动力学中的重要作用,并且提供了一个三维计算框架以深入理解生命系统中复杂的斑图形成过程.
