Low back pain(LBP)is the world's leading cause of disability and is increasing in prevalence more rapidly than any other pain *** disc(IVD)degeneration and facet joint osteoarthritis(FJOA)are two common causes of LBP,and both occur more frequently in elderly women than in other ***,osteoarthritis(OA)and OA pain,regardless of the joint,are experienced by up to twice as many women as men,and this difference is amplified during *** in estrogen may be an important contributor to these pain *** for estrogen have been found within IVD tissue and nearby joints,highlighting the potential roles of estrogen within and surrounding the IVDs and *** addition,estrogen supplementation has been shown to be effective at ameliorating IVD degeneration and OA progression,indicating its potential use as a therapeutic agent for people with LBP and OA *** review comprehensively examines the relationship between estrogen and these pain conditions by summarizing recent preclinical and clinical *** potential molecular mechanisms by which estrogen may relieve LBP associated with IVD degeneration and FJOA and OA pain are discussed.

It's urgent to develop benzocyclobutene(BCB)-based polymers with low curing temperature for temperature-sensitive applications such as liquid crystal displays(LCDs)and flexible ***,the effect of substituents on the ring-opening behavior of BCB derivatives was *** ring-opening activation energy barriers(ΔGA)of BCB derivatives with one or two substituents on the four-membered alkyl ring were systematically calculated using the B3LyP *** mono-and di-substituted BCBs adopted the conrotatory ring-opening process,obeying the Woodward-Hoffmann's Rules upon *** mono-/di-substituted BCBs exhibited 8.2%—69%lowerΔGA compared with BCB,attributed to the electronic effects of the *** BCBs with both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups,e.g.,1-NH_(2)-8-NO_(2)-BCB,demonstrated the lowestΔ*** addition,BCB derivatives with amide/ester/acyloxy group modified on C1 position were synthesized as model molecules,and their ring-opening temperature can be decreased by 20℃ compared to the unsubstituted one,also consistent with our calculation *** work combined theoretical calculation methods with experimental results to provide valuable insights into the design and synthesis of BCB derivatives and next-generation BCB functional packaging materials with low ring-opening temperature.

Conventional two-layered structure thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were prepared onto γ'-Ni3Al based alloy IC-6 by electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD). Isothermal oxidation and thermal cycling tests were carried out to investigate the effect of Mo content at the interface between bond coat and ceramic top coat caused by diffusion. It has been found that the alloy coated with TBCs presented the lowest oxidation weight gain value for the reason that the ceramic top coat in TBC system can effectively stop Mo oxides evaporating. The life time of TBCs has close relation with Mo content at the interface between the bond coat and top coat. Spaliation of ceramic top coat occurred during thermal cyclic testing when Mo atoms accumulated at the interface up to certain amount to decline the combination between the bond coat and top coat.

Macrophages are typically identified as classically activated(M1) macrophages and alternatively activated(M2) macrophages,which respectively exhibit pro-and anti-inflammatory phenotypes,and the balance between these two subtypes plays a critical role in the regulation of tissue inflammation,injury,and repair *** studies indicate that tissue cells and macrophages interact via the release of small extracellular vesicles(EVs) in processes where EVs released by stressed tissue cells can promote the activation and polarization of adjacent macrophages which can in turn release EVs and factors that can promote cell stress and tissue inflammation and injury and vice *** review discusses the roles of such EVs in resulating such interactions to influence tissue inflammation and injury in a number of acute and chronic inflammatory disease conditions,and the potential applications,advantage and concerns for using EV-based therapeutic approaches to treat such conditions,including their potential role of drug carriers for the treatment of infectious diseases.

Grain-boundary(GB)precipitation has a significant adverse effect on plasticity of alloys,which easily leads to catastrophic intergranular failure in safety-critical applications under high external ***,we report a novel strategy that uses the local stress concentration induced by GB precipitates as a driving force to trigger phase transformation of preset non-equiatomic high-entropy solid-solution phase at *** in situ deformation-induced phase transformation at GBs introduces a well-known effect:transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP),which enables an exceptional elongation to fracture(above 38%)at a high strength(above 1.5 GPa)in a GB precipitation-hardened high-entropy alloy(HEA).The present strategy in terms of"local stress concentration-induced phase transformations at GBs"may provide a fundamental approach by taking advantage of(rather than avoiding)the GB precipitation to gain a superior combination of high strength and high ductility in HEAs.

The opioid receptor-libel receptor (ORL), an orphan receptor whose human and murine complementary DNAs,has been characterized recently. ORL transcripts are particularly abundant in the central nervous system. We demonstrated that ORL expressed in human neuroblastoma SK-N-SH and SH-Sy5y cell lines by radioligand binding assay, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Northern analysis in the present study. Stimulation with ORL1 specific agonist, nociceptin/orphanin Fo, increased [34S]GTPrγS binding to SK-N-SH cell membranes (EC50 = 14 ±0.45 nM), and attenuated forskolin-stimulated accumulation of cellular cAMP (EC50= 0.80 ±0.45 nM, indicative that activation of ORL1 activates G proteins and inhibits adenylyl cyclase. Activation of ORL1 receptor was also accessed using CHO:hORL1 cell line by microphysiometer. Treatment of nociceptin/orphanin FQ increased extracellular acidification rate significantly.

In this study,we attempted to characterise the effects of date-palm fibre(DPF)and a date-palm fibre/sheep wool hybrid in polyester to enhance high-performance and low-cost composite materials that can be used in insulation building systems,automotive parts,and home *** DPF was treated using 5%NaOH solution;and the sheep wool was cleaned with 50℃hot water and *** composite specimens were prepared with different fibre contents(0%,10%,20%,30%(w))using a compression moulding *** effect of fibre reinforcement was analysed in terms of the mechanical properties(tensile,flexural,impact,and hardness)and composite ***,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was performed on the fibres before and after treatment,and the fractured surfaces of all composite specimens were examined after tensile *** results showed that the 20%DPF/sheep wool hybrid reinforced polyester produced the best *** ultimate tensile strength and modulus were 27 MPa and 3.69GPa,*** ultimate flexural strength and flexural modulus were 35.4 and 2507 MPa,*** impact strength was 39.5 kJ/m^(2)and the hardness was 64 *** density decreased to the lowest value of 1.02 g/cm^(3)with the 30%DPF/sheep wool *** SEM showed good adhesion and interfacial bonding between DPF/sheep wool hybrid fibres and the polyester matrix,particularly at 20%fibre content.
