Natural processes in ecosystems shows significant variations in species richness with regular cycles that can be altered by natural or anthropogenic activities;the present research was in order to understand on some of these variations. The objectives were: 1) determine the species richness of rocky intertidal mollusks;2) track their geographical distribution at State level;and 3) determine the changes in species richness as a result of rainfall on an annual cycle. For these purposes it was sampled in march, June, September and December 2005, the sampled area was 20 m2for each collecting site;the sampling unit was a PVC rectangle frame one by two meter per side. The mollusks found within the sampling units were collected, identified and counted. The species distribution was analyzed by sites and regions, considered species richness per season, and the distributional patterns by rainy season historical records. A total of 62 mollusks species were found, its richness associated with substrate stability and wave intensity on each site, Gastropods had the highest species richness. When analyzing the regional distribution and sites, it was found a pattern of species richness roughly constant in the proportion of species with wide distribution (generalists) versus those of restricted spatial representation (specialists). Gastropods had the highest number of species with restricted spatial representation. Seasonal rainfall differences did not quantitatively altered on the overall the species of mollusks in the rocky intertidal sampled zone however, in the analysis per Class, Gastropoda indicated changes in species richness influenced by rainfall, which were not observed in Bivalvia and Polyplacophora, suggesting that those changes might depend on adaptive processes or the lack of adaptation of gastropod species to the characteristics of the rocky intertidal habitat.

AIm To investigated the real-world effectiveness and safety of various regimens of interferon-free treatments in patients infected with hepatitis C virus(HCV).mETHODS We performed an observational study to analyze different antiviral treatments administered to 462 HCV-infected patients, of which 56.7% had liver cirrhosis. HCV RNA after 4 wk of treatment and at 12 wk after treatment sustained virologic response(SVR) as well as serious adverse events(SAEs) was analyzed first for the whole cohort and then separately in patients who met or did not meet the inclusion criteria of a clinical trial(CT-met and CT-unmet, respectively).RESULTS The most frequently prescribed treatment was simeprevir/sofosbuvir(36.4%), followed by sofosbuvir/ledipasvir(24.9%) and ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir(r)/dasabuvir(19.9%). Ribavirin(RBV) was administered in 198 patients(42.9%). SVRs occurred in 437/462 patients(94.6%). The SVRs ranged between 93.3% and 100% for genotypes 1-4. SVRs were achieved in 96.2% patients in the CTmet group vs 91.9% patients in the CT-unmet group(P = 0.049). Undetectable HCV RNA at week 4 occurred in 72.9% of the patients. In the univariate analysis, the factors associated with SVRs were lower liver stiffness, absence of cirrhosis, higher platelet count, higher albumin levels, no RBV dose reduction, undetectable HCV RNA at week 4 and CT-met group. In the multivariate analysis, only albumin was an independent predictor of treatment failure(P = 0.04). Eleven patients(2.4%) developed SAEs; 5.2% and 0.7% of the patients in the CT-unmet and CT-met groups, respectively(P = 0.003).CONCLUSION A high proportion of patients with HCV infection achieved SVRs. For patients who did not meet the CT criteria, treatment regimens must be optimized.

Aims Persian walnut(Juglans regia L.),an interesting forest species for the veneering industry,requires adequate management to produce valuable high-quality *** species associations and management level can improve stand productivity,the novelty of this work was to assess Persian walnut performance in different planting mixtures and in pure plantations conditioned to management *** Growth,straightness and survival measurements were taken annually for 7 years after planting pure and mixed plantations under two contrasting management *** were recorded at Age 7 in all *** each management intensity,besides the monoculture,three mixtures were tested:a mixture of only main forest species,main forest species plus one arboreal companion species,Black alder(Alnus glutinosa L.)and main species plus the shrub Russian olive(Elaeagnus angustifolia L.)as nurse species.A test of interaction between plantation type and management scenario was conducted using repeated growth *** Findings The interaction was significant,indicating the presence of different mechanisms underlying plantation effects under high and low management *** with pure plantations,Persian walnut associated with the nurse shrub exhibited 78%higher height and 53%higher diameter growth in plantations under low *** benefits(lower presence of walnut blight than in the monoculture)and better straightness were also found in the association including the shrub when the management intensity was not *** beneficial effects in the presence of Russian olive were not present under high management intensity(irrigation,fertilization,tutoring and frequent pruning).Site-specific designs for Persian walnut plantations would depend on the foreseen management intensity.

Background: Leptospirosis is an important zooanthroponotic disease spread worldwide which infection is recognized as a re-emergent disease. Leptospirosis is a systemic disease of humans and domestic animals, mainly dogs, cattle and swine, characterized by fever, renal and hepatic insufficiency, pulmonary manifestations and reproductive failure. Objective: To study the seroprevalence of anti-Leptospira antibodies in an urban canine population. materials and methods: The study was performed in march 2014 in stray dogs that had been captured in the districts of Coyoacan, Iztapalapa, Iztacalco and Benito Juarez in mexico City;117 dogs were analyzed, from each of which 5 ml of blood were obtained. Serology was performed using a mAT test (microscopic Agglutination Test), finding that the antigens corresponded to 13 serotypes of Leptospirainterrogans. Three age groups were formed: Group 1) younger than a year (n = 28), Group 2) 1 to 6 years (n = 75), and Group 3) older than 6 years (n = 14). Results: Of the analyzed sera, 28.2% were seropositive to one or more Leptospira serotypes, 74% of the positive seracoagglutinated with two or more serotypes. The most frequent serotypes were: Canicola, Icterohaemorrhagiae and Portland-vere. Serotypes Canicola, Pyrogenes, and Bratislava resulted statistically significant (p 0.001). The presence of anti-Leptospira antibodies in the blood of animals of 1 to 6 years resulted with a p 0.001. The sera from Iztapalapa reacted to nine serotypes. Conclusion: The 28.2% of seropositivity indicates Leptospira transmission in the canine population that was studied could exhibit a potential public health risk.

The physicochemical properties and catalytic activity of pure and sulfated titanium oxide (TiO2 and ) is described in this work. Titanium hydroxide synthesized by the sol-gel method was impregnated with a 1 N H2SO4 solution, varying amount of sulfate ions () in the range from 10 to 20 wt%. Pure and modified hydroxides were calcined at 500°C for 3 h and then characterized by TGA-DTG, XRD, BET, FT-IR, potentiometric titration with n-butylamine and 2-propanol dehydration. Catalytic activity of materials was tested in the n-hexane isomerization at 350°C. The results showed that TiO2 and mainly developed anatase phase. All have acceptable specific surface area (95-105 m2/g). Potentiometric titration with n-butylamine revealed that showed higher acidity (430-530 mV) than compared to pure TiO2 (﹣15 mV), indicating that this oxide only has weak acidity. The results showed good relationship between acidity determined by potentiometric titration with n-butylamine and the catalytic activity evaluated by 2-propanol dehydration and n-hexane isomerization. Titanium oxide with 20 wt% ofions was the material that demonstrated the highest catalytic activity for both reactions.

Loss of genetic variability is an increasing challenge in tree breeding programs due to the repeated use of a reduced number of founder ***,in almond,little is known about the genetic variability in current breeding stocks,although several cases of inbreeding depression have been *** gain insights into the genetic structure in modern breeding programs worldwide,marker-verified pedigree data of 220 almond cultivars and breeding selections were *** coefficients,pairwise relatedness,and genetic contribution were calculated for these *** results reveal two mainstream breeding lines based on three cultivars:“Tuono”,“Cristomorto”,and“Nonpareil”.Descendants from“Tuono”or“Cristomorto”number 76(sharing 34 descendants),while“Nonpareil”has 71 *** mean inbreeding coefficient of the analyzed genotypes was 0.041,with 14 genotypes presenting a high inbreeding coefficient,over *** programs from France,the USA,and Spain showed inbreeding coefficients of 0.075,0.070,and 0.037,*** to their genetic contribution,modern cultivars from Israel,France,the USA,Spain,and Australia trace back to a maximum of six main founding *** the group of 65 genotypes carrying the S f allele for self-compatibility,the mean relatedness coefficient was 0.125,with“Tuono”as the main founding genotype(24.7%of total genetic contribution).The results broaden our understanding about the tendencies followed in almond breeding over the last 50 years and will have a large impact into breeding decision-making process *** current genetic variability is required in almond breeding programs to assure genetic gain and continuing breeding progress.

The aim of this study was to assess sperm quality (motility, viability and acrosomal integrity) sperm from commercially frozen semen straws two breeds of bulls Bos taurus (holstein Frisian) and Bos indicus (Brahman). 9 commercial straws 0.5 ml of Holstein bull semen and 9 Brahman bull were thawed, they were kept for two hours at room temperature and motility, viability and acrosomal integrity (NAR) was assessed. The results were 30% motility, viability 40% and 30% of NAR in the Holstein breed. Brahma race for motility 40%, 50% and 40% viability was obtained NAR. In conclusion, according to the results of the variables analyzed, the Brahman breed in sperm quality was better than the Holstein breed;however, the results of both races meet minimum standards of quality sperm for use in artificial insemination (AI) field level.
