Synthesis, Structure, Adsorption Space and Magnetic Properties of Ni-oxalate Porous Molecular Magnet

We synthesized about sixty metal organic materials. Only three were metal organic frameworks (MOFs). One of them was a porous molecular magnet (PMM). For the PMM synthesis Ni was the node, oxalic acid the organic linker and DMF the solvent and shaping molecule. This PMM was studied with DRIFTS, Raman spectrometry, TGA, XRD, adsorption and with a VSM. TGA and adsorption data indicated that a microporous material with a pore volume, W = 0.10 ± 0.01 cm3/g was obtained. The analysis of the XRD profile indicated that it is a layered compound. The DRIFTS, Raman and XRD data revealed that each layer is formed by nickel cations linked by bis-bidentate and bridging-bis-bidentate oxalate ligands and the DMF molecules are perpendicularly linked to the nickel cations to produce stacking. Additionally, the Raman data allowed us to propose that the nickel cations are located in octahedral and pentacoordinated sites as Ni2+ and Ni3+. The Pawley fitting of the XRD profiles pointed out that the hydrated sample crystallizes in the P2/m space group. The cell parameters calculated are consistent with the proposed structure. Two different adsorption states showing different adsorption energies, in the physical adsorption range, were observed. The small amount estimated for the dispersive and quadrupole adsorption interaction energies was a confirmation of the proposed layered structure. The VSM study yielded an effective magnetic moment, ?eff?????????. This figure is consistent with nickel located in octahedral and pentacoordinated sites as Ni2+ and Ni3+. We had then obtained a new Ni-oxalic porous molecular magnet (Ni-Ox-PMM). The significance of this PMM is related to its porosity, that is, during degassing it release water turning into a porous stable structure, showing notable magnetic properties. Purpose:To examine the effects of a school-based karate intervention on academic achievement,psychosocial functioning,and physical fitness in children aged 7-8 ***:Twenty schools in 5 different European countries(2 second-grade classrooms per school)participated in a cluster randomized controlled trial(Sport at School trial).Participants were assigned to either a control group,which continued with their habitual physical education lessons,or to an intervention group,which replaced these lessons with a 1-year karate intervention(Karate Mind and Movement program).A total of 721 children(344 girls and 377 boys,7.4±0.5 years old,mean±SD)completed the study,of which 333 and 388 were assigned to the control group and intervention group,*** included academic performance(average grade),psychosocial functioning(Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire for parents),and different markers of physical fitness(cardiorespiratory fitness,balance,and flexibility).Results:The intervention provided small but significant benefits compared to the control group for academic achievement(d=0.16;p=0.003),conduct problems(d=-0.28;p=0.003),cardiorespiratory fitness(d=0.36;p0.05).Conclusion:A 1-year school-based karate intervention was effective in improving academic achievement,conduct problems,and physical fitness in primary school *** results support the inclusion of karate during physical education lessons.

Multi-azimuth walkaway vertical seismic profiling is an established technique for the estimation of in situ slowness surfaces and inferring anisotropy ***,this technique requires the assumption of lateral homogeneity,which makes the horizontal slowness components at depths of downhole receivers equal to those measured at the *** violations of this assumption,such as lateral heterogeneity or nonzero dip of intermediate interfaces,lead to distortions in reconstructed slowness surfaces and,consequently,to errors in estimated anisotropic *** this work,we relax the assumption of lateral homogeneity and discuss how to correct vertical seismic profile data for weak lateral *** describe a procedure of downward continuation of recorded traveltimes that accounts for the presence of both vertical inhomogeneity and weak lateral heterogeneity,which produces correct slowness surfaces at depths of downhole receivers,noticing that sufficiently dense receiver coverage along a borehole is required to separate influences of vertical and lateral heterogeneity on measured traveltimes and obtain accurate estimates of the slowness *** the slowness surfaces are found and a desired type of anisotropic model to be inverted is selected,the corresponding anisotropic parameters,providing the best fit to the estimated slownesses,can be *** invert the slowness surfaces of P-waves for parameters of the simplest anisotropic model describing dipping fractures(transversely isotropic medium with a tilted symmetry axis).Five parameters of this model,namely,the P-wave velocity V0 in the direction of the symmetry axis,Thomsen's anisotropic coefficients e and d,the tilt n,and the azimuth b of the symmetry axis,can be estimated in a stable manner when maximum source offset is greater than half of receiver depth.

Assessment of energy consumption, environmental effects and fuel costs of the bus rapid transit system in Bogota (Colombia)

Colombia aims to boost the utilization of mass transportation systems in its major cities while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, in alignment with the commitments of the COP21 agreement. In 2020, the transport sector in Colombia accounted for 34.4% of the country's energy demand and was responsible for similar to 49% of its total CO2 emissions. This article presents an assessment of energy consumption, environmental effects and the fuel costs of Bogota's bus rapid transit system based on the Activity, Share, Intensity, Fuel methodology. A long-term analysis spanning from 2021 to 2040 was developed using the long-range energy alternatives planning platform. To conduct this assessment, the tool was calibrated using data from 2019 and 2020. Four distinct scenarios based on energy policies implemented in Bogota were examined: Business as Usual, Fast Transition, High Growth and Low Growth. Regarding energy consumption and environmental effects, the results underscore the pivotal role of diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels such as oil. Consequently, the analysis emphasizes the urgent need to accelerate the transition to alternative energy sources such as natural gas and electricity. [GRAPHICS] .
