The study aimed to assess the clin.cal, laboratory, an. blood gas an.lysis of horses un.ergoin. Marcha train.n. an. the effects of volun.ary in.estion.of hydroelectrolytic an. en.rgy replen.shers after exercise. Eight horses of both gen.ers aged between.5 an. 10 years, were in.luded in.the study. The exercise con.isted of a 10-min.warm-up followed by 45 min.un.n.errupted Marcha on.a flat dirt track in.the morn.n.. After exercise, the horses received on. of the followin. treatmen.s: Drin.in. water (con.rol group);Hydroelectrolytic an. en.rgy replen.sher con.ain.n. sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium acetate, magn.sium chloride, sodium citrate, dextrose, maltodextrin. an. sucrose in.three differen. con.en.ration. (Replen.shers A, B, an. C). The horses were distributed across the four treatmen.s in.a 4 × 4 Latin.Squares design.usin. a Split-plot system with 48-hr in.ervals. Clin.cal an. laboratory evaluation. were con.ucted at four time poin.s: T0 - 5 min.before exercise;T1 - up to 5 min.after exercise;T2 - 2 hr after startin. treatmen.;an. T4 - 4 hr after begin.in. treatmen.. Con.en.ration. of urea, creatin.n., lactate, phosphorus, an. ion.zed calcium sign.fican.ly chan.ed after exercise. An.in.rease in.blood pH an. a decrease in.chloride con.en.ration. were observed when.replen.shers B an. C were offered after exercise. The replacemen.s were in.ested spon.an.ously by the an.mals in.a volume greater than.that of the con.rol group (water). Replacemen. B was the most in.ested by the an.mals, demon.tratin. its greatest poten.ial.

This article focuses on.the productivity an. techn.cal efficien.y of 100 cocoa farms usin. cross-section.l data from areas ran.in. from 190 to 1021 m above sea level which were classified as low, medium, an. high elevation.in.Davao City, con.idered as the chocolate capital of the Philippin.s. Usin. stochastic fron.ier an.lysis, the results showed that the cost of in.uts per ha an. the n.mber of cocoa trees per ha sign.fican.ly in.rease yield. Farms at high elevation. were less techn.cally efficien., as this en.ails lower temperatures an. in.reased rain.all, an. cocoa farmin. in.those areas an. con.ition. can.be more challen.in., especially with chan.es in.farmin. practices, terrain. an. distan.e to markets. Other sign.fican. variables were age of cocoa farms, married farmers, an. age of the farmers. Older farms may be more developed, farmers who are married ben.fit from their spouses bein. able to readily con.ribute as farm labor, an. lastly, older farmers' in.fficien.y may likely stem from n.n.daptation.of n.wer farmin. practices. With an.average techn.cal efficien.y of 0.61, 0.63, an. 0.26 in.low, medium, an. high elevation.areas, respectively, farmers therefore have an.in.en.ive to improve farm practices an. con.ider topographical variation. foun. in.high elevation.areas. Recommen.ation. for the improvemen. of techn.cal efficien.y of cocoa farms are better con.ectivity to markets, en.an.in. farm practices, an. con.in.ation.an. improvemen. of govern.en. programs on.cocoa with an.added emphasis on.research. For farmers in.high elevation.areas, mitigatin. solution. such as sustain.ble agriculture practices an. ecolabellin. are key to improvin. efficien.y an. min.mizin. the poten.ial n.gative impact on.uplan. farmin. systems. Moreover, such adaptation.measures may also con.ribute to sustain.bility of cocoa farmin. in.high elevation
