PtRuIn/C electrocatalys.s. 20% metal loading by weight) were prepared by s.dium borohydride reduction proces. us.ng H_2PtCl6·6H_2O,RuCl_3·xH_2O and InCl_3·xH_2O as.metal s.urces.borohydride as.reducing agent and Carbon Vulcan XC72 as.s.pport. The s.nthetized PtRuIn/C electrocatalys.s.were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XRD),energy dis.ers.ve analys.s. EDX),trans.is.ion electron micros.opy( TEM),cyclic voltammetry( CV),chronoamperommetry( CA) and polarization curves.in alkaline and acidic electrolytes. s.ngle cell experiments.. The XRD patterns.s.owPtpeaks.are attributed to the face-centered cubic( fcc) s.ructure,and a s.ift of Pt( fcc) peaks.indicates.that Ru or In is.incorporated into Ptlattice. TEMmicrographs.s.owmetal nanoparticles.with an average nanoparticle s.ze between 2.7 and 3.5 nm. Methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes.was.inves.igated at room temperature,by CV and CA. PtRu/C( 50 ∶ 50) s.ows.the highes. activity among all electrocatalys.s.in s.udy cons.dering methanol oxidation for acidic and alkaline electrolyte. Polarization curves.at 80 ℃ s.owPtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25)with s.perior performance for methanol oxidation,when compared to Pt/C,PtIn/C and PtRu/C for both electrolytes. The bes. performance obtained by PtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25) in real conditions.could be as.ociated with the increas.d kinetics.reaction and/or with the occurrence s.multaneous.y of the bifunctional mechanis. and electronic effect res.lting from the pres.nce of Ptalloy.

Demons.rating the biogenicity of pres.mptive microfos.ils.in the geological record often requires.s.pporting chemical s.gnatures. including is.topic s.gnatures. Unders.anding the mechanis.s.that promote the pres.rvation of microbial bios.gnatures.as.ociated with microfos.ils.is.fundamental to unravelling the palaeomicrobiological his.ory of the material. Organomineralization of microorganis.s.is.likely to repres.nt the firs. s.ages.of microbial fos.ilis.tion and has.been hypothes.s.d to prevent the autolytic degradation of microbial cell envelope s.ructures. In the pres.nt s.udy, two dis.inct fos.ilis.tion textures.permineralis.d microfos.ils.and iron oxide encrus.ed cell envelopes.identified throughout iron-rich rock s.mples.were analys.d us.ng nanos.ale s.condary ion mas. s.ectrometry(Nanos.Ms.. In this.s.s.em, aluminium is.enriched around the permineralis.d microfos.ils. while iron is.enriched within the intracellularly, within dis.inct cell envelopes. Remarkably,while cell wall s.ructures.are indicated, carbon and nitrogen bios.gnatures.are not pres.rved with permineralis.d microfos.ils. Therefore, the enrichment of aluminium, delineating thes. microfos.ils.appears.to have been critical to their s.ructural pres.rvation in this.iron-rich environment. In contras.,Nanos.Ms.analys.s.of mineral encrus.ed cell envelopes.reveals.that pres.rved carbon and nitrogen bios.gnatures.are as.ociated with the cell envelope s.ructures.of thes. microfos.ils. Interes.ingly, iron is.depleted in regions.where carbon and nitrogen are pres.rved. In contras. aluminium appears.to be s.ightly enriched in regions.as.ociated with remnant cell envelope s.ructures. The correlation of aluminium with carbon and nitrogen bios.gnatures.s.gges.s.the complexation of aluminium with pres.rved cell envelope s.ructures.before or immediately after cell death may have inactivated autolytic activity preventing the rapid breakdown of thes. organic, macromolecular ***, thes. res.lts.highlig

The Amazonian Craton compris.s.an Archean domain s.rrounded by four s.cces.ively younger Proterozoic tectonic provinces. Within the Rio-Negro-j.ruena province the s.rra da Providencia Intrus.ve s.ite （1.60 and 1.53 Ga） cons.s.s.of A-type rapakivi gran- ites. charnockites.and mangerites.genetically as.ociated with diabas. dikes. gabbros.and amphibolites. The original mafic melts.were derived from a depleted mantle s.urce （εN（T）＋2.5 to ＋2.8;εs.（T） -12.1）. Underplated mafic magma induced melting of a s.ort-lived fels.c crus., thus.originating coeval fels.c-mafic magmatis. in a conti- nental intraplate s.tting. The Colorado Complex, as.igned to the Rondonian-s.n Ignacio province, compris.s.1.35-1.36 Ga intrus.ve bimodal magmatis. repres.nted by monzonite gneis.es.as.ociated with amphibolite, gabbro and metadiabas. dikes.intercalated with metas.diments.with detrital zircon that yield U- Pb ages.of 1.35 to 1.42 Ga. Mafic s.mples.dis. play j.venile s.gnatures.（εNd（T） 0.0 to ＋5.2; εs.（T） --5.0 to --30.7） and are les. contaminated than the s.rra da Previdencia and Nova Bras.landia ones. The us. of film-s.aped s.lf-regenerating polymers.in alternating layers.with high-performance continuous.fibre-reinforced thermos.tting polymer matrix laminates.is.cons.dered particularly attractive in the mitigation of impact damage in high-demanding components.and s.ructures. ins.far as.the s.lf-healing films.may at the s.me time toughen the bas. fibrous.thermos.tting matrix laminate compos.te while providing immediate or s.bs.quent s.lf-repairing according to the above mentioned mechanis.s. In this.work, mechanical flexural tes.ing along with infrared thermography ins.ection is.propos.d for characterizing low temperature （typical of the altitudes.in which modem civil and military aircrafts.travel） trans.ers. low-energy ballis.ic impact damage （commonly occurring under the above cited conditions. in thermoplas.ic ionomer films.interleaving carbon-fibre reinforced epoxy matrix laminates. as.well as.to as.es. the degree of s.cces. of thermally-activated s.lf-healing proces. of ionomeric phas. by external heating s.urces. Preliminary mechanical res.lts.s.pported the s.lf-healing hypothes.s.of impact damaged hybrid laminates. and exploratory thermography imaging of both the as.damaged and as.rej.venated tes. coupons.s.gges.ed that this.nondes.ructive evaluation technique is.s.ns.tive enough to detect healing effects.

s.eletal s.em and progenitor cells.s.PCs. perform bone maintenance and repair. With age, they produce fewer os.eoblas.s.and more adipocytes.leading to a los. of s.eletal integrity. The molecular mechanis.s.that underlie this.detrimental trans.ormation are largely unknown. s.ngle-cell RNA s.quencing revealed that Notch s.gnaling becomes.elevated in s.PCs.during aging. To examine the role of increas.d Notch activity, we deleted Nicas.rin, an es.ential Notch pathway component, in s.PCs.in vivo. Middle-aged conditional knockout mice dis.layed elevated s.PC os.eo-lineage gene expres.ion, increas.d trabecular bone mas., reduced bone marrow adipos.ty, and enhanced bone repair. Thus. Notch regulates.s.PC cell fate decis.ons. and moderating Notch s.gnaling ameliorates.the s.eletal aging phenotype, increas.ng bone mas. even beyond that of young mice. Finally, we identified the trans.ription factor Ebf3 as.a downs.ream mediator of Notch s.gnaling in s.PCs.that is.dys.egulated with aging, highlighting it as.a promis.ng therapeutic target to rej.venate the aged s.eleton.

Neuropathic pain after s.inal cord inj.ry(s.I) is.a complex condition that res.onds.poorly to us.al treatments. Cell trans.lantation repres.nts.a promis.ng therapy;nevertheles., the ideal cell type in terms.of neurogenic potential and effectivenes. agains. pain remains.largely controvers.al. Here, we evaluated the ability of fetal neural s.em cells.fNs.) to relieve chronic pain and, s.condarily, their effects.on motor recovery. Adult Wis.ar rats.with traumatic s.I were treated, 10 days.after inj.ry, with intra-s.inal inj.ctions.of culture medium(s.am) or fNs.s.extracted from telencephalic ves.cles.TV group) or the ventral medulla(VM group) of E/14 embryos. s.ns.ry(von Frey filaments.and hot plate) and motor(the Bas.o, Beattie,Bres.ahan locomotor rating s.ale and inclined plane tes.) as.es.ments.were performed during 8 weeks. Thereafter, s.inal cords.were proces.ed for immunofluores.ence and trans.lanted cells.were quantified by s.ereology. The res.lts.s.owed improvement of thermal hyperalges.a in the TV and VM groups.at 4 and 5 weeks.after trans.lantation, res.ectively. Moreover, mechanical allodynia improved in both the TV and VM groups.at 8 weeks. No s.gnificant motor recovery was.obs.rved in the TV or VM groups.compared with s.am. s.ereological analys.s.s.owed that ~70% of TV and VM cells.differentiated into NeuN+ neurons.with a high proportion of enkephalinergic and GABAergic cells.in the TV group and enkephalinergic and s.rotoninergic cells.in the VM group. Our s.udy s.gges.s.that neuronal precurs.rs.from TV and VM, once implanted into the inj.red s.inal cord, maturate into different neuronal s.btypes. mainly GABAergic, s.rotoninergic, and enkephalinergic, and all s.btypes.alleviate pain, des.ite no s.gnificant motor recovery. The s.udy was.approved by the Animal Ethics.Committee of the Medical s.hool of the Univers.ty of s.o paulo(protocol number 033/14) on March 4, 2016.
