The significance of U-Pb zircon ages in zoned plutons:the case of the Flamenco pluton, Coastal Range batholith, northern Chile

Compositionally zoned plutons, both layered and concentrically arranged, provide granitic exposures where the mechanisms and timing of the magmatic emplacement processes can be studied. The importance of in-situ geochemical differentiation and the magma replenishment rates are revealed by geochemistry and field relations, together with the increasingly accurate U-Pb geochronology, which has promoted the knowledge about the pluton incremental assembly *** Flamenco pluton, located in the Coastal Range of northern Chile, is part of the Upper Triassic to Early Cretaceous Andean intrusives formed in the western active margin of South America, and present a normal zoned structure with mafic magmatic facies(mostly gabbros and Qtz-diorites) close to the contacts with the host metasediments, and tonalites, granodiorites and granites in the inner areas. A combined study of the field relations, geochemistry and zircon geochronology of the magmatic facies was applied to determine the emplacement sequence of the Flamenco pluton, revealing three distinguishable domains separated by metasedimentary septa. The SW area is constituted by mostly homogeneous leucocratic granodiorites that yielded an age of 213 Ma as the best estimation for their emplacement age. Distinctive geochemical characteristics, such as the absence of an Eu anomaly, the depletion in HREE, or the highest Sr, Sr/Y and Ce/Yb values among the granodioritic facies of the pluton,involve lower T and/or higher P conditions at the magmatic source according to experimental *** conditions were established during an early stage of the Andean magmatic arc building that is firstly defined here as Upper Triassic. The NW and E domains of the pluton were sequentially emplaced between 194 Ma and 186 Ma and both the field relations and the detailed geochronological results suggest that the mafic facies intruded latter in the emplacement sequence. The Phenomenological Approach as Epistemologically Support to Legitimize the Position of Oneself to the Other of Psychoanalysis

This work aims to show, in the phenomenology of Husserl, the relevance to seek the elements that give epistemological legitimacy and validity to the conceptualization that brings psychoanalytic theory to account for processes whose explanation necessarily imply to clarify that psychoanalysis, in contrast to psychological treatments, is not based on the effects of a relationship between the participants but in the positioning that each of them occupies relative to the other, particularly when having in mind the concept of transference and recognizing in it the position from which the analyst can give conditions of possibility--through his interventions--for which the patient may realize, analyze, and rethink his own position on what constitutes his discomfort. Husserl recaptures the Cartesian base from which opens philosophical reflection to a new area of research ＂in＂ consciousness where it is allowed to understand the relationship between subject and object from a new perspective that enables establishing an epistemology that substantiates the rigorous analysis of human subjectivity. Husserl＇s proposal introduces us to an epistemic field in which it can be shown and, that the psychoanalytic method which enables its effects is precisely the position of the analyst, while by his presence and intervention leads to the other in question, without having to abide by an alien desire, be able to position himself before his own desire. This analysis regarding the desire of oneself is indispensable to understand the elements at play in contemporary psychopathology, as in the present context the intensity of the demands generated in the economic apparatus, are experienced by the subject as arising from himself, erasing traces of his desire that is superseded by social imperatives that crushed and fragmented him.

TNF system in eutopic endometrium from women with endometriosis

The role of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) system in endometriosis is not completely clear and therefore was the focus of this study. In eutopic endometria obtained from women with (n = 41) and without (controls;n = 34) endometriosis during laparoscopy, the subcellular location and the percentages for TNF, TNFR1, TNFR2 and CD45 positive-cells were determined (immunohistochemistry);the protein concentration (ELISA) of the soluble receptors (sTNFR1 and sTNFR2) were measured in 4h-explants culture media and the TNF concentration was performed in ex vivo endometrial homogenates. The TNF, TNFR1 and TNFR2 mRNAs were analyzed by real-time PCR. In control endometria, TNF, TNFR1 and sTNFR1 proteins increased during the late secretory phase. In endometriosis endometria, the protein highest level of TNFR1 was reached during the early and the mid secretory phases and of sTNFR1 concentration during the proliferative phase;however, during the late secretory phase, both TNFR1 and sTNFR1 protein levels were reduced compared to the control endometria (p sTNFR2 concentrations, and TNF and TNFR2 mRNAs were similar in control and endometriosis endometria. Although TNFR1 mRNA was highly expressed, no significant differences were found between control and endometriosis endometria. In summary, this study establishes that TNF and TNFR1 protein expressions and the sTNFR concentrations in eutopic endometria from women with and without endometriosis are dependent on the menstrual cycle. The differences on the TNFR1 and sTNFR1 protein pattern between both groups, mainly during the mid and late secretory phases may play a role in the lower implantation rates observed in women with endometriosis, and also could be related to the altered cell death, which favor the augmented cell viability facilitating the characteristic endometrial implantation and growth outside the uterus in this disease.
