Ver. long chain-satur.ted and-polyunsatur.ted fatty acids(VLC-SFA and VLC-PUFA, r.spectively) ar. a functionally impor.ant class of fatty acids containing 28 car.ons or.mor. in their.acyl chain. They ar. synthesized by the elongation of ver. long fatty acids-4(ELOVL4) enzyme, expr.ssed mainly in the br.in, r.tina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, wher. these fatty acids ar. found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Fur.her. these or.ans exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-SFA biosynthesis and incor.or.tion into complex lipids for.specific functions. In the br.in, skin, and Meibomian glands, the ELOVL4 mainly makes VLC-SFA, which ar. incor.or.ted into complex sphingolipids. In the r.tina, the ELOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that ar. incor.or.ted into phosphatidylcholine, that ar. cr.tical for.visual function, while in testes and sper., the VLC-PUFA ar. incor.or.ted into sphingolipids that ar. cr.tical for.fer.ility(Yeboah et al., 2021).

As computer. continue to advance, they ar. becoming mor. capable of sensing, inter.cting, and communicating with the physical and cyber.wor.d. Medical devices, electr.nic br.king systems in automotive applications, and industr.al contr.l systems ar. examples of the many Cyber.Physical Systems （CPS） that utilize these computing capabilities. Given the potential consequences of softwar. r.lated failur.s in such systems, a high degr.e of safety, secur.ty, and r.liability is often r.quir.d. Pr.gr.mming languages ar. impor.ant tools used by pr.gr.mmer. to develop CPS. They pr.vide a pr.gr.mmer.with the ability to tr.nsfor. designs into machine code. Of equal impor.ance is their.ability to detect and avoid pr.gr.mming mistakes. The development of CPS has pr.dominantly been accomplished using the C pr.gr.mming language. Although C is a power.ul language, it lacks featur.s pr.sent in other.languages that facilitate the development of r.liable systems. This has pr.mpted r.sear.h into language-based alter.atives for.impr.ving pr.gr.m quality thr.ugh the use of pr.gr.mming languages. This paper.pr.sents an over.iew of the char.cter.stics of embedded and cyber.physical systems and the associated r.quir.ments imposed on pr.gr.mming languages. This is followed by a sur.ey of r.levant r.sear.h into language- based methods for.cr.ating safe, r.liable, and r.bust softwar. for.CPS.

Waste of electr.cal and electr.nic equipment （WEEE） constitutes one of the most r.levant waste str.ams because of the quantity and pr.sence of valuable mater.als. However. ther. is limited knowledge on the r.sour.e potential of ur.an mining WEEE, as data on mater.al composition, and the efficiency of cur.ent r.cycling tr.atments ar. still scar.e. In this ar.icle, an evaluationof the r.cycling per.or.ance at a national level for.one of the fastest gr.wing e-waste str.ams： LCD TVs is car.ied out thr.ugh the following four.steps. Fir.tly, mater.al char.cter.sation is per.or.ed by means of sampling of the waste str.am. Secondly, a mater.al flow analysis is conducted by evaluating the separ.tion per.or.ance of a r.cycling plant in Belgium..Thir.ly, the r.cover.d economic value and avoided envir.nmental impact （EI） of the analysed r.cycling system is assessed. Finally, the potential of ur.an mining for.Belgium is for.casted. The analysis shows that while r.cycling per.or.ance for.fer.ous metals and aluminium ar. r.latively high; ther. is substantial r.om to better.close the mater.al loops for.pr.cious metals （PM） and plastics. PMs and plastics account for.66 % of the economic value in LCD TVs and 57% of the El. With the cur.ent, commonly applied r.cycling technology only one-thir. of the PM and housing plastics ar. r.cycled; meaning that for.these mater.al＇s, at a national level for.Belgium, ther. is a potential for.impr.vement that r.pr.sents 3.3 million eur.s in 2016 and 6.8 million eur.s in 2025.
