The SArS-CoV-2 Omicron variants are notorious for their transmissibility,but little is known about their subgenomic rNA(sgrNA)*** study applied rNA-seq to delineate the quantitative and qualitative profiles of canonical sgrNA of 118 respiratory samples collected from patients infected with Omicron BA.2 and compared with 338 patients infected with non-variant of concern(non-VOC)-D614G.A unique characteristic profile depicted by the relative abundance of 9 canonical sgrNAs was reproduced by both BA.2 and non-VOCD614G regardless of host gender,age and presence of ***,such profile was lost in samples with low viral load,suggesting a potential application of sgrNA pattern to indicate viral activity of individual patient at a specific time point.A characteristic qualitative profile of canonical sgrNAs was also reproduced by both BA.2 and *** presence of a full set of canonical sgrNAs carried a coherent correlation with crude viral load(AUC¼0.91,95%CI 0.88–0.94),and sgrNA OrF7b was identified to be the best surrogate marker allowing feasible routine application in characterizing the infection status of individual *** potentials in using sgrNA as a target for vaccine and antiviral development are worth pursuing.

Objective:To evaluate the effect and safety of foot baths with Tangbi Waixi Decoction(TW)in treating patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods:It is a multicenter double-blinded randomized controlled *** with DPN were recruited between November 18,2016 and May 30,2018 from 8 hospitals in *** patients received basic treatments for glycemic *** received foot baths with TW herbal granules either 66.9 g(intervention group)or 6.69 g(control group)for 30 min once a day for 2 weeks and followed by a 2-week rest,as a therapeutic *** the Toronto Clinical Scoring System total score(TCSS-TS)6 points,the patients received a total of 3 therapeutic courses(for 12 weeks)and were followed up for 12 *** primary outcome was change in TCSS-TS score at 12 and 24 *** outcomes included changes in bilateral motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV)and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)of the median and common peroneal *** was also ***:Totally 632 patients were enrolled,and 317 and 315 were randomized to the intervention and control groups,*** the 12-week intervention,patients in both groups showed significant declines in TCSSTS scores,and significant increases in MNCV and SNCV of the median and common peroneal nerves compared with pre-treatment(Preduction of TCSS-TS score at 12 weeks and the increase of SNCV of median nerve at 24 weeks in the control group were greater than those in the intervention group(Pr of adverse events did not differ significantly between groups(P>0.05),and no serious adverse event was related with ***:Treatment of TW foot baths was safe and significantly benefitted patients with DPN.A low dose of TW appeared to be more effective than a high dose.(registry *** CTr-IOr-16009331)

Strategies for CO2 capture from different CO2 emission sources by vacuum swing adsorption technology

Different VSA （Vacuum Swing Adsorption） cycles and process schemes have been evaluated to find suitable process configurations for effectively separating C02 from flue gases from different industrial sectors. The cycles were studied using an adsorption simulator developed in our research group, which has been suc- cessfully used to predict experimental results over severa~ years. Commercial zeolite APGIlI and granular ac- tivated carbon were used as the adsorbents. Three-bed VSA cycles with- and without-product purge and 2- stage VSA systems have been investigated. It was found that for a feed gas containing 15% CO2 （representing flue gas from power plants）, high CO2 purities and recoveries could be obtained using a three-bed zeolite APGII1 VSA unit for one stage capture, but with more stringent conditions such as deeper vacuum pressures of 1-3 kPa. 2-stage VSA process operated in series allowed us to use simple process steps and operate at more realistic vacuum pressures. With a vacuum pressure of 10 kPa, final C02 purity of 95.3% with a recov- ery of 98.2% were obtained at specific power consumption of 0.55 MJ. （kg CO2） 1 from feed gas containing 15% C02. These numbers compare very well with those obtained from a single stage process operating at I kPa vacuum pressure. The feed CO2 concentration was very influential in determining the desorption pressure necessary to achieve high separation efficiency. For feed gases containing 〉30% CO2, a singlestage VSA capture process operating at moderate vacuum pressure and without a product purge, can achieve very high product purities and recoveries.

As a research focus, energy conservation has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years due to the energy crisis and environmental pollution concerns. Many countries made great efforts on both research and implementing energy conservation technologies. Cur- rently more than 50% of the total world＇s delivered energy is consumed by industry and about one sixth of the total energy consumed is wasted as low-grade heat, for example through radiation loss, exhaust gas flows, and cooling fluid circuits. Therefore, the recovery and reuse of waste heat is an effective way to significantly improve energy utilization. In addition, solar energy can provide low grade heat and is a clean and renewable form of energy. The efficient use of low grade heat from these sources can play an important role for a large number of applications.

Osteoporosis(OP)is a debilitating skeletal abnormality involving bone remodeling and bone cell homeostasis characterized by decreased bone strength and high fracture risk.A novel therapeutic intervention for OP by manipulating cellular autophagy-apoptosis processes to promote skeletal homeostasis is *** effects of the naturally occurring plant extract Liquiritigenin(LG)were demonstrated in an ovariectomy(OvX)-OP mouse model and preosteoblast MC3T3-E1 ***-CT and histological staining assessments of skeletal phenotype were applied alongside detection of autophagy activity in osteocytes and MC3T3-E1 cells by transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The effects of LG on chloroquine(CQ)-and the apoptosis-inducing TS-treated osteogenic differentiations and status of lysosomes within MC3T3-E1 cells were analyzed by Neutral red,Alizarin red S and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)staining and Western blot *** with LG prevented bone loss,increased osteogenic differentiation in vivo and in vitro,and inhibited osteoclast formation to some *** analyses revealed that LG can improve auto-lysosomal degradation within osteocytes from OVX mice and MC3T3-E1 *** abnormal status of lysosomes associated with CQ and TS treatments was notably alleviated by LG which also reduced levels of apoptosis-induced inhibition of osteogenic differentiation and averted abnormal osteogenic differentiation as a consequence of a blockage in autolysosome ***,LG stimulates bone growth in Oovx mice through increased osteogenic differentiation and regulation of autophagyapoptosis mechanisms,presenting an auspicious natural therapy for Op.
