Variations of oCT measurements corrected for the magnification effect according to axial length and refractive error in children

Purpose:The aim of this paper was to examine the distribution of macular,retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and optic disc parameters of myopic and hyperopic eyes in comparison withemmetropic control eyes and to investigate their variation according to axial length(AL)andspherical equivalent(SE)in healthy ***:This study included 293 pairs of eyes of 293children(145 boys and 148 girks),ranging in age from 6 to 17 years,Subjects were dividedaccording to SE in control(emmetropia,99 children),myopia(100 children)and hyperopia(94children)groups and according to axial AL in 68 short(om≥22.00 mmto 25.00 mm,189)and long eyes(>25.00 mm,36).Macular parameters,RNFL thickness and opticdisc morphology were assessed by the Cirrus^(TM) *** was measured using the ***'s formula was used for calculating the corrected AL-related ocular *** Mean age(±SD)was 10.84±3.05 years;mean(±SD)SE was+0.14±0.51 D(range from8.75 to+8.25 D)and mean AL(±SD)was 23.12±*** RNFL thickness,averagemacular thickness and macular volume decreased as AL and myopia *** correlationsbetween AL/SE and optic disc parameters were found after correcting for magnification ***:AL and refractive error affect measurements of macular and RNFL thickness inhealthy *** make a correct interpretation of ocT measurements,ocular magnificationeffect should be taken into account by clinicians or oCT manufacturers.

Role of chemokines and their receptors in viral persistence and liver damage during chronic hepatitis C virus infection

Chemokines produced in the liver during hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection induce migration of activated T cells from the periphery to infected *** milieu of chemokines secreted by infected hepatocytes is predominantly associated with the T-helper cell/Tc1 T cell(Th1/Tc1) *** chemokines consist of CCL3(macrophage inflammatory protein-1α;MIP-1α),CCL4(MIP-1β),CCL5(regulated on activation normal T cell expressed and secreted;RANTES),CXCL10(interferon-γ-inducible protein-10;IP-10),CXCL11(interferon-inducible T-cell α chemoattractant;I-TAC),and CXCL9(monokine induced by interferon γ;Mig) and they recruit T cells expressing either CCR5 or CXCR3 chemokine *** and peripheral blood levels of these chemokines are increased during chronic hepatitis *** interaction between chemokines and their receptors is essential in recruiting HCV-specific T cells to control the *** the adaptive immune response fails in this task,non-specific T cells without the capacity to control the infection are also recruited to the liver,and these are ultimately responsible for the persistent hepatic *** modulation of chemokine receptor expression and chemokine secretion could be a viral escape mechanism to avoid specific T cell migration to the liver during the early phase of infection,and to maintain liver viability during the chronic phase,by impairing non-specific T cell *** chemokines and their receptors correlate with liver damage,and CXCL10(IP-10) and CXCR3 levels have shown a clinical utility as predictors of treatment response *** regulation of chemokines and their receptors could be a future potential therapeutic target to decrease liver inflammation and to increase specific T cell migration to the infected liver.

Photonic Gravitational Interactions from a Quantum Point of View

A hypothesis explaining the diffraction and interference of light from a pure corpuscular point of view was published in 2018. The author developed the idea by a fortunate combination of intuition and statistics but failed to justify it theoretically. This vagueness can be amended by using relativistic invariants. Adapting Dirac’s equation to gravitational potentials acting over photons yields most of the properties of light. A complete characterization of the properties of light arriving from distant galaxies was performed by modeling the coherence of light. It was assumed that the coherence of light is generated by two orthogonal potentials. Here an idea explains the cosmological redshift data as is done by the combination of Big-Bang, acceleration, and deceleration trilogy.

It is assumed here that the energy of a strong gravitational field creates non-linear effects over enclosed masses. This idea and the rigorous rules of the General Theory of Relativity output a metric that covers strong and weak gravitational fields. The proposed metric could be correct because it included the Schwarzschild’s metric as a particular case and has no singularities. Additionally, it appears here that the massive condition of the gravitational fields has properties like the so-called Dark Matter.

Toward a Common Ground for Gravity and optics

A long enough period of observation of the Sun’s gravitational dragging effects by using a modified Cavendish’s balance output of experimental evidence shows new patterns. Those patterns can be explained assuming that the Sun has a torus with rotation, precession, and nutation. This purpose of this paper is to introduce the frequencies of all those movements. The torus’s rotational period can be used to explain the Sun’s magnetic pole reversal. Utilizing a modified Cavendish’s balance showed an output of dragging forces stronger than the attraction between the gravitational masses. This tool afforded this research a new experimental possibility to a more precise determination of the Universal Gravitational Constant Big G. Moreover, the dragging forces directly affect any volume of mass, which includes the atmosphere. This paper shows a correlation between the Sun’s dragging peaks and density of the air squared. The aforementioned correlation and the inverse cubic relation with the distance to the Sun are common for the dragging and tide forces providing the possibility that tidal forces are also a gravitational dragging consequence. The last 2017 total Solar eclipse created a new temporal reaction on the modified Cavendish’s balance. That temporal pattern looks as the spatial pattern created by an opaque disk. This similarity allows the researcher to calculate that the dragging forces are transmitted by photons with spatial periodicity of value λ = 6.1 km.

Costimulatory molecule programmed death-1 in the cytotoxic response during chronic hepatitis C

Hepatitis C virus（HCV）-specific CD8^＋ T cells play an important role in the resolution of HCV infection. Nevertheless, during chronic hepatitis C these cells lack their effector functions and fail to control the virus. HCV has developed several mechanisms to escape immune control. one of these strategies is the upregulation of negative co-stimulatory molecules such us programmed death-1 （PD-1）. This molecule is upregulated on intrahepatic and peripheral HCV-specific cytotoxic T cells during acute and chronic phases of the disease, whereas PD-1 expression is low in resolved infection. PD-1 expressing HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells are exhausted with impairment of several effector mechanisms, such as： type-1 cytokine production, expansion ability after antigen encounter and cytotoxic ability. However, PD-1 associated exhaustion can be restored by blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligand （PD-L1）. After this blockade, HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells reacquire their functionality. Nevertheless, functional restoration depends on PD-1 expression level. High PD-l-expressing intrahepatic HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells do not restore their effector abilities after PD-1/ PD-L1 blockade. The mechanisms by which HCV is able to induce PD-1 up-regulation to escape immune control are unknown. Persistent TCR stimulation by a high level of HCV antigens could favour early PD-1 induction, but the interaction between HCV core protein and gClq receptor could also participate in this process. The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway modulation could be a therapeutic strategy, in conjunction with the regulation of others co-stimulatory pathways, in order to restore immune response aclainst HCV to succeed in clearing the infection.

Three behaviors of epidemiological importance,namely feeding latency,feeding duration and defecation latency,for six populations of Meccus phyllosomus longipennis(Usinger)from areas of central,western and north-central Mexico with high(HP)and low(LP)prevalence of Trypanosoma cruzi(Chagas)human infection were evaluated in this *** median feeding latency(the time taken to begin feeding)was highly variable between ***-instar comparisons showed that at least 65%of the LP populations(N3 to adult)started to feed significantly(Population,with N1 showing no difference,and N2 from LP populations feeding sooner than those from HP *** six populations had similar median feeding durations within instars.A higher(Pof the instars from HP populations defecated faster than the respective instars from the three LP *** 25%of the young nymphs(N1 to N3)and females in the HP populations defecatedostfeeding,compared with 4%-6%of the young nymphs and 1.3%-3%of females in the LP ***,17.7%-38.8%of the older nymphs(N4 to N5)in the HP populations and 6.8%-13.4%in the LP populations defecated during or immediately after *** results indicate that the HP populations have a greater potential than the LP populations to transmit *** infections,which may underlie the differences in the prevalence of *** infection in some areas where M *** is currently distributed.
