Changes in biochemical constituents and induction of early sprouting by triadimefon treatment in white yam(Dioscorea rotundata Poir.) tubers during storage

The ability of triadimefon （TDM）, a triazolic fungicide, to alter the biochemical constituents and thereby minimizing the days required for sprouting in white yam （Dioscorea rotundata Poir.） tubers during storage under （30±2） ℃ in the dark, was studied. TDM at 20 mg/L was given to tubers by dipping the tubers in treatment solution containing 20 mg/L TDM on 10, 25 and 40 d after storage （DAS）. Starch, sugars, protein, amino acid contents as well as protease and a-amylase activities were estimated on 15, 30 and 45 DAS from two physiological regions viz., apical and basal regions of the tubers. In normal conditions （control） sprouting occurred on 70 to 80 DAS. The starch content decreased, while protein, amino acid, sugar contents and protease and a-amylase activities were increased due to TDM treatment and led to early sprouting.

Memristor is a newly found fourth circuit element for the next generation emerging nonvolatile memory technology. In this paper, design of new type of nonvolatile static random access memory cell is proposed by using a combination of memristor and complemented metal oxide semiconductor. Biolek memristor model and CMOS 180 nm technology are used to form a single cell. By introducing distinct binary logic to avoid safety margin is left for each binary logic output and enables better read/write data integrity. The total power consumption reduces from 0.407 mw (milli-watt) to 0.127 mw which is less than existing memristor based memory cell of the same CMOS technology. Read and write time is also significantly reduced. However, write time is higher than conventional 6T SRAM cell and can be reduced by increasing motion of electron in the memristor. The change of the memristor state is shown by applying piecewise linear input voltage.

In this cyber era, novelty plays a prime role in the field of agriculture that majorly depends on computer-based measurements and control. Herein before, it was totally controlled and performed by the agriculturists. One of the technological innovative methods to measure and monitor the turmeric finger growth characteristics is the embedded system that is based on sensor array module such as flex sensor, temperature sensor and pH sensor. The experimental work has been designed and tested with five set of nodes and the growth of turmeric finger is tenuously monitored by measuring the change in flex resistance. Out of five nodes, two nodes were diseased. Deliberately, one node was left as such and the other node was treated with natural pesticides (pseudomonas and viride) to restrict the rhizome rot disease attack. After cultivation, it was found that the rhizome rot disease attack on the node which was treated with pesticides was comparatively lesser than the other node. The five different nodes have been used in the experimental work with an average flex sensor resistance of 3.962 cm/kΩ. In a nutshell, this proposed method manifests the farmers to detect the rhizome rot disease at its earlier stage and to prevent it as well by screening the growth of the turmeric fingers when it is under the soil.

Crystallization and Characterization of a New NonLinear Optical Crystal: L Proline Succinate (LPS)

In this analysis, the single crystal of L-Proline Succinate (LPS) has been successfully synthesized and the purity of ma- terial has been increased by repeated recrystallization process. Single crystal was grown by adopting the method of growing in a slow evaporation solution using water as solvent at room temperature. The LPS single crystal has been synthesized by taking equimolar quantity of L-Proline and succinic acid, by mixing them thoroughly using deionized water. The prepared concentrated solution was placed in an undisturbed condition, and the solution was inspected regu- larly. The single crystal has been harvested over a period of 1 month. The same crystal was characterized by different techniques for finding its suitability for device fabrications. The grown crystal was characterized by Single crystal XRD, Powder XRD, FTIR, UV-vis-NIR, DTA/TGA and SHG analyses, respectively. The observed results from various char- acterization show the suitability for NLO application. The second harmonic generation of this grown crystal was checked using Kurtz Perry technique which showed positive results. The UV cut-off wavelength and the decomposition temperature of this grown crystal were found to be good when compared with the existing organic crystals.

Floorplanning is a prominent area in the Very Large-Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuit design automation, because it influences the performance, size, yield and reliability of the VLSI chips. It is the process of estimating the positions and shapes of the modules. A high packing density, small feature size and high clock frequency make the Integrated Circuit (IC) to dissipate large amount of heat. So, in this paper, a methodology is presented to distribute the temperature of the module on the layout while simultaneously optimizing the total area and wirelength by using a hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization-Harmony Search (HPSOHS) algorithm. This hybrid algorithm employs diversification technique (PSO) to obtain global optima and intensification strategy (HS) to achieve the best solution at the local level and Modified Corner List algorithm (MCL) for floorplan representation. A thermal modelling tool called hotspot tool is integrated with the proposed algorithm to obtain the temperature at the block level. The proposed algorithm is illustrated using Microelectronics Centre of North Carolina (MCNC) benchmark circuits. The results obtained are compared with the solutions derived from other stochastic algorithms and the proposed algorithm provides better solution.

Cyclic voltammograms of reactive black5 (RB5) at different pHs in the range 1.0 - 13.0 on multiwall carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon electrode revealed the presence of one well-defined irreversible anodic peak around 975 mV in acidic and neutral pHs. Adsorption controlled oxidation observed at acidic pH 1.0 resulted in the maximum peak current response in cyclic voltammograms. A systematic differential pulse stripping voltammetric studies were carried out using the modified electrode at pH 1.0. The accumulation parameters, accumulation potential and time were optimized for maximum adsorption of the dye which was ascertained from the SEM photographs and XRD results. The stripping parameters were optimized and calibration was made under optimum conditions. The range of study was from 0.5 ppm to 100 ppm and the lower limit of determination was 100 ppm. Five identical experiments were carried out and the RSD value obtained was 2.5% suggesting good reproducibility. The proposed method was successfully applied to determine the concentration of dye in the fabric and wastewater after dyeing.

Pheniramine maleate (PA), an antihistamine, was determined by Differential Pulse Stripping voltammetry using nano polypyrrole (Ppy) and nano poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) modified glassy carbon electrodes. The cyclic voltammetric behavior of pheniramine was studied in aqueous acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions. One well-defined oxidation peak was observed in the cyclic voltammograms at all pHs. The influence of pH, scan rate and concentration revealed irreversible electron transfer and the oxidation was diffusion controlled adsorption. The SEM analysis confirmed good accumulation of PA on the electrode surface. A systematic study of influence of various experimental parameters that affect the stripping voltammetric response was carried out and the maximum peak current conditions were arrived at. Calibration was made under maximum peak current conditions. The range of study was 0.05 to 0.4 μg/mL on Ppy/GCE and 0.025 to 0.4μg/mL on PEDOT/GCE and the lower limit of determination were 0.035μg/mL on Ppy/GCE and 0.016μg/mL on PEDOT/GCE. The suitability of the method for the determination of PA in pharmaceutical preparations and urine samples was also ascertained.
