Often in abandoned mine sites are present both underground voids produced by mining and the tailings of treatment *** interesting solution for the rehabilitation of the sites would be to place the tailings of the process in the underground mining voids,thus obtaining the reclamation of surface areas and the stabilization of abandoned voids to prevent the dangerous phenomena of ***,these operations require inert waste,which must not be source of pollution,and the choice of a water/solid optimum to ensure good conditions of pumpability.

This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the principal features of smart panels equipped with feed-forward and feedback systems for the control of the flexural response and sound transmission due respectively to tonal and to stochastic broadband *** smart panels are equipped with two types of actuators:first,distributed piezoelectric actuators formed either by small piezoelectric patches or large piezoelectric films bonded on the panels and second,point actuators formed by proof-mass electromagnetic ***,the panels encompass three types of sensors:first,small capacitive microphone sensors placed in front of the panels;second,distributed piezoelectric sensors formed by large piezoelectric films bonded on the panels and third point sensors formed by miniaturized *** proposed systems implement both single-channel and multi-channel feed-forward and feedback control *** study shows that,the vibration and sound radiation control performance of both feed-forward and feedback systems critically depends on the sensor-actuator configurations.

In the last few decades,the use of environmental radionuclides,particularly caesium-137(^(137)Cs),represented one of the most valid methods for estimating soil ***,the cost associated with the use of the equipment needed for radiometric analyses is still high and,for this reason,finding more easily measurable indicators can be *** is a strong correlation between^(137)Cs,organic carbon(OC),nitrogen(N)and water soluble phenols(WSP)exists,indicating the latter parameters as possible early indicators of soil *** on the above assumptions,the main purpose of this work is to identify specific soil chemical parameters able to indicate early triggering of soil ***,several soil parameters such as pH,electric conductivity(EC),WSP,OC,N and C/N have been evaluated against^(137)Cs and on a comparative *** addition,since the rate of soil erosion depends on the degree of coverage and canopy structure,two different tree species(Pinus nigra laricio *** Fagus sylvatica L.)have been considered in this contribution in which ten different scenarios of forest management have been *** results show that the reduction in tree cover of managed sites triggers erosion and nutrient loss *** has been observed that the loss of^(137)Cs,compared to the control areas,is closely correlated with those of WSP,OC and *** parameters(WSP,OC and N),more easily assessable,can be a valid tool to understand easily,triggering of erosive phenomena.

Legged robots relying on dry adhesives for vertical climbing are required to preload their feet against the wall to increase contact surface area and consequently maximize adhesion force. Preloading a foot causes a redistribution of forces in the entire robot, including contact forces between the other feet and the wall. An inappropriate redistribution of these forces can cause irreparable detachment of the robot from the vertical surface. This paper investigates an optimal preloading and detaching strategy that minimizes energy consumption, while retaining safety, during locomotion on vertical surfaces. The gait of a six-legged robot is planned using a quasi-static model that takes into account both the structure of the robot and the character- istics of the adhesive material. The latter was modelled from experimental data collected for this paper. A constrained optimi- zation routine is used, and its output is a sequence of optimal posture and motor torque set-points.

The term“over-skidding”indicates that the cage rotational speed ratio exceeds the theoretical value as ball purely rolls on the *** from the skidding phenomenon that occurs in low-load and high-speed bearing,over-skidding usually occurs in large-size angular contact bearings,and it is still difficult to suppress under high load *** main forms of damage to the raceway by over-skidding are spinning and gyro *** further explore the vibration characteristics and thermal effects of this phenomenon,a set of over-skidding tests of an angular contact bearing with a bore diameter of 220 mm were conducted on an industrial-size test *** the experiment,the influence of axial load,rotational speed,and lubrication conditions on the occurrence of over-skidding were *** on a previous dynamics model,the heat generation and thermal network models were integrated in the present study to predict the over-skidding and its thermal *** model was validated in terms of the measured degree of over-skidding and temperature *** results showed that the degree of over-skidding reaches up to 12%of the theoretical value,and the friction power loss of the ball-pocket accounts for 30%of the total power *** analysis of the vibration signal showed a strong correlation between the bearing vibration characteristics and over-skidding behavior,thereby providing a way to indirectly measure the degree of over-skidding.
