BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) includes two distinct conditions, with different histologic features and prognosis: non-alcoholic fatty liver(NAFL) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH). Furthermore, NASH is the more aggressive necro-inflammatory form, which may accumulate fibrosis and result in End stage liver disease(ESLD). NAFLD is also linked to systemic inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis. NAFLD is currently the most common cause of ESLD in Western countries, becoming a serious public health *** suppurativa(HS) is a systemic inflammatory/autoinflammatory disease of the terminal follicular epithelium of the apocrine gland with a prevalence of 0.05% to 4.10%. Due to its systemic inflammatory behavior several comorbidities were recently associated, however liver ones were scarcely *** To evaluate the prevalence and characteristics of NASH/NAFL in HS *** This retrospective study is a sub-analysis of a larger study carried out in 4 Italian dermatological centers. In this cohort, there were 83 patients: 51 patients with HS only, 20 patients with HS/NAFL and 12 with HS/*** Inflammatory comorbidities were present in 3.9% of HS only patients, 25% of HS/NAFL patients and 58.3% of HS/NASH patients(P < 0.001). Similarly, mean Autoinflammatory Disease Damage Index(ADDI) was significantly higher among patients with HS/NASH(5.3 ± 2.2, P < 0.001) compared to patients with HS/NAFL or HS only(2.8 ± 1.6 and 2.6 ± 1.4 respectively). Furthermore, ADDI correlates with IHS4 in HS, HS/NAFL and HS/NASH. Diabetic patients have higher Hurley score than not diabetic ones. Ultrasound examination was significantly different in the three *** HS patients displayed a high prevalence of NASH/NAFLD and ultrasound examination should be particularly addressed to patients that display high ADDI scores.

This study investigates the degradation behavior of three distinct Fe-based alloys immersed in three pseudo-physiological *** alloys,which have varied Mn and C contents,include a commercially available Fe-0.15C alloy,namely Fe–C,and two newly developed alloys,that is Fe–5Mn-0.2C(namely Fe–5Mn)and Fe–18Mn-0.6C(namely Fe–18Mn).The aim was to understand the effect of alloying elements and the testing solution on the in-vitro degradation behavior of these Fe-based *** immersion degradation and potentiodynamic corrosion tests were carried out using three pseudo-physiological solutions with albumin supply,that is modified Hanks’saline solution(MHSS),phosphate buffered saline solution(PBS),and sodium chloride solution(NaCl).After two weeks of static immersion,the results revealed that Fe–5Mn,characterized by a mixture of ferrite and martensite,showed the highest degradation rate,while Fe–C,composed solely of ferrite,showed the lowest rate of *** predominant degradation products in MHSS and PBS were phosphates and *** PBS,these products formed a remarkably stable protective layer on the surface,contributing to the lowest degradation *** contrast,porous hydroxides appeared as the main degradation products for samples immersed in NaCl solution,leading to the highest degradation *** results provided important insights into the customization of Fe–Mn–C alloys for a range of biomedical applications,meeting a variety of clinical requirements,and highlighting the considerable potential of Fe–Mn–C alloys for biomedical applications.

Efficacy and safety of low-intensity shockwave therapy plus tadalafil 5 mg once daily in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus and erectile dysfunction:a matched-pair comparison study

Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy(LiESWT)represents a promising treatment for patients with erectile dysfunction(ED).We investigated the efficacy of LiESWT combined with tadalafil 5 mg once daily in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2dm)and ED and compared LiESWT protocols administering different number of *** performed a retrospective matched-pair comparison using data from a prospectively maintained ***-eight patients who received tadalafil 5 mg once dai7ly for 12 weeks+LiESWT performed with an electrohydraulic source for 3 weeks(Group A)were matched 1:1 to patients who received tadalafil 5 mg once daily alone for 12 weeks(Group B).A subgroup analysis was performed according to the number of shockwaves delivered during each session(1500,1800,and 2400 in subgroup A1,A2,and A3,respectively).The mean International Index of Erectile Function-5(IIEF-5)score variations with respect to baseline recorded at 4,12,and 24 weeks after the end of the treatment were investigated as treatment *** mean IIEF-5 scores significantly improved in all groups and subgroups at 4-week follow-up without intergroup *** 12-and 24-week follow-up,the mean IIEF-5 improvement was significantly higher among patients in the A3 subgroup(+5.0±2.1[Pdm and ED.

Geometrical feature analysis and disaster assessment of the Xinmo landslide based on remote sensing data

At 5:39 am on June 24, 2017, a landslide occurred in the village of Xinmo in Maoxian County, Aba Tibet and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture(Sichuan Province, Southwest China). On June 25, aerial images were acquired from an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV), and a digital elevation model(DEM) was processed. Landslide geometrical features were then analyzed. These are the front and rear edge elevation, accumulation area and horizontal sliding distance. Then, the volume and the spatial distribution of the thickness of the deposit were calculated from the difference between the DEM available before the landslide, and the UAV-derived DEM collected after the landslide. Also, the disaster was assessed using high-resolution satellite images acquired before the landslide. These include Quick Bird, Pleiades-1 and GF-2 images with spatial resolutions of 0.65 m, 0.70 m, and 0.80 m, respectively, and the aerial images acquired from the UAV after the landslide with a spatial resolution of 0.1 m. According to the analysis, the area of the landslide was 1.62 km2, and the volume of the landslide was 7.70 ± 1.46 million m3. The average thickness of the landslide accumulation was approximately 8 m. The landslide destroyed a total of 103 buildings. The area of destroyed farmlands was 2.53 ha, and the orchard area was reduced by 28.67 ha. A 2-km section of Songpinggou River was blocked and a 2.1-km section of township road No. 104 was buried. Constrained by the terrain conditions, densely populated and more economically developed areas in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River basin are mainly located in the bottom of the valleys. This is a dangerous area regarding landslide, debris flow and flash flood events Therefore, in mountainous, high-risk disaster areas, it is important to carefully select residential sites to avoid a large number of casualties.

The density profiles of dark matter halos in spiral galaxies

In spiral galaxies, we explain their non-Keplerian rotation curves (RCs) by means of a non-luminous component embedding their stellar-gaseous disks. Understanding the detailed properties of this component (labelled Dark Matter, dm) is one of the most pressing issues of Cosmology. We investigate the recent relationship (claimed by Walker et al. 2010, hereafter W + 10) between r, the galaxy radial coordinate, and Vh(r), the dark halo contribution to the circular velocity at r, 1) in the framework of the Universal Rotation Curve (URC) paradigm and directly 2) by means of the kinematics of a large sample of dm dominated spirals. We find a general agreement between the W + 10 claim, the distribution of dm emerging from the URC and that inferred in the (low luminosity) objects of our sample. We show that such a phenomenology, linking the spiral’s luminosity, radii and circular velocities, implies an evident inconsistency with (naive) predictions in the Λ Cold Dark Matter (ΛCdm) scenario.
