Cavity-enhanced photoacoustic dual-comb spectroscopy

Photoacoustic dual-comb spectroscopy(DCS),converting spectral information in the optical frequency domain to the audio frequency domain via multi-heterodyne beating,enables background-free spectral measurements with high resolution and broad ***,the detection sensitivity remains limited due to the low power of individual comb lines and the lack of broadband acoustic ***,we develop cavity-enhanced photoacoustic DCS,which overcomes these limitations by using a high-finesse optical cavity for the power amplification of dual-frequency combs and a broadband acoustic resonator with a flat-top frequency *** demonstrate high-resolution spectroscopic measurements of trace amounts of C2H2,NH3 and CO in the entire telecommunications *** method shows a minimum detection limit of 0.6 ppb C2H2 at the measurement time of 100 s,corresponding to the noise equivalent absorption coefficient of 7×10−10 cm−*** proposed cavityenhanced photoacoustic DCS may open new avenues for ultrasensitive,high-resolution,and multi-species gas detection with widespread applications.

The high-detection-sensitivity saturated-absorption cavity ring-down(SCAR)technique is extended to Lambdip spectroscopy of rovibrational molecular transitions in the near-infrared ***-comb-referenced sub-Doppler saturation measurements,performed on the acetylene(ν_(1)+ν_(3)+ν_(4)←ν_(4))R(14)e line at6562 cm^(-1),are analyzed by a SCAR global line profile fitting routine,based on a specially developed theoretical *** to a conventional cavity ring-down evaluation,our approach yields dip profiles with a linewidth freed from saturation broadening effects,reduced by 40%,and a signal-to-noise ratio increased by 90%.Ultimately,an overall(statistical and systematic)fractional uncertainty as low as 7×10^(-12)is achieved for the absolute line-center *** the same time,our method is also able to accurately infer the linear(nonsaturated)behavior of the gas absorption,providing Lamb-dip-based line strength measurements with a relative uncertainty of 0.5%.

Obesity has become an important public health issue in Western and developing countries,with well known metabolic and cardiovascular *** the last decades,evidence have been growing about the active role of adipose tissue as an endocrine organ in determining these pathological *** a consequence of the expansion of fat depots,in obese subjects,adipose tissue cells develope a phenotypic modification,which turns into a change of the secretory *** produced by both adipocytes and adipose stromal cells are involved in the modulation of glucose and lipid handling,vascular biology and,moreover,participate to the systemic inflammatory response,which characterizes obesity and metabolic *** might represent an important pathophysiological link with atherosclerotic complications and cardiovascular events.A great number of adipocytokines have been described recently,linking inflammatory mileu and vascular *** understanding of these pathways is crucial not only from a pathophysiological point of view,but also to a better cardiovascular disease risk stratification and to the identification of possible therapeutic *** aim of this paper is to review the role of Adipocytokines as a possible link between obesity and vascular disease.

Efficient multi-level fault simulation of HW/SW systems for structural faults

In recent technology nodes,reliability is increasingly considered a part of the standard design flow to be taken into account at all levels of embedded systems *** traditional fault simulation techniques based on low-level models at gate-and register transfer-level offer high accuracy,they are too inefficient to properly cope with the complexity of modern embedded ***,they do not allow for early exploration of design alternatives when a detailed model of the whole system is not yet available,which is highly required to increase the efficiency and quality of the design ***-level models that combine the simulation efficiency of high abstraction models with the accuracy of low-level models are therefore essential to efficiently evaluate the impact of physical defects on the *** paper proposes a methodology to efficiently implement concurrent multi-level fault simulation across gate-and transaction-level models in an integrated simulation *** leverages state-of-the-art techniques for efficient fault simulation of structural faults together with transaction-level *** combination of different models allows to accurately evaluate the impact of faults on the entire hardware/software system while keeping the computational effort ***,since only selected portions of the system require low-level models,early exploration of different design alternatives is efficiently *** results obtained from three case studies are presented to demonstrate the high accuracy of the proposed method when compared with a standard gate/RT mixed-level approach and the strong improvement of simulation time which is reduced by four orders of magnitude in average.

Management of unstable angina in a patient with Haemophilia A

Hemophilia A is an X-linked recessive disorder characterized by a deficiency of coagulation factor Ⅷ(FⅧ) and therefore by a greater risk of bleeding during percutaneous interventional procedures and during the dual antiplatelet therapy(DAPT) in patients with ischemic heart disease. Information regarding safe percutaneous procedures in hemophiliacs is limited. Since the introduction of FVⅧ concentrates, the life expectancy of hemophiliac patients has improved and consequently, the rate of ischemic heart disease in this population is increased. Frequently the replacement therapy can trigger the onset of an acute coronary syndrome. We report a case of a patient with mild Hemophilia A, who presents with unstable angina, treated successfully with coronary angioplasty and drug eluting stent implantation without replacement of FVⅧ, treated with long term DAPT without major bleeding after six months of follow up.
