Global climate change is impacting organisms, biological communities and.ecosystems around.the world. While most research has focused.on characterizing how the climate is changing, includ.ng mod.ling future climatic cond.tions and.pred.cting the impacts of these cond.tions on biod.versity, it is also the case that climate change is altering the environmental impacts of chemical pollution. Future climate cond.tions are expected.to influence both the world.id. d.stribution of chemicals and.the toxi- cological consequences of chemical exposures to organisms. Many of the environmental changes associated.with a warming global climate （e.g., increased.average - and.possibly extreme - temperatures; intense period. of d.ier and.wetter cond.tions; red.ced.ocean pH; altered.salinity d.namics in estuaries） have the potential to enhance organism susceptibility to chemical toxicity. Ad.i- tionally, chemical exposures themselves may impair the ability of organisms to cope with the changing environmental cond.tions of the shifting climate. Such reciprocity in the interactions between climate change and.chemicals illustrates the complexity inherent in pred.cting the toxicological consequences of chemical exposures und.r future climate scenarios. Here, we summarize what is currently known about the potential reciprocal effects of climate change and.chemical toxicity on wild.ife, and.d.pict current approaches and.ongoing challenges for incorporating climate effects into chemical testing and.assessment. Given the rapid.pace of new man-mad. chemistries, the d.velopment of accurate and.rapid.method. to evaluate multiple chemical and.non-chemical stressors in an ecologically relevant context will be critical to und.rstand.ng toxic and.end.crine-d.srupting effects of chemical pollutants und.r future climate scenarios [Current Zoology 61 （4）： 669-689, 2015].

The hepatocyte cytoskeleton consists of three fi lamentous networks: microtubules, actin microfi laments and.keratin intermed.ate filaments. Because of the abund.nce of the proteins that comprise each system and.the central role each network plays in a variety of cellular processes, the three fi lament systems have been the focus of a host of stud.es aimed.at und.rstand.ng the progression of alcohol-ind.ced.liver injury. In this review, we will briefly d.scuss the hepatic organization of each cytoskeletal network and.highlight some components of each system. We will also d.scribe what is known about ethanol-ind.ced.changes in the d.namics and.d.stributions of each cytoskeletal system and.d.scuss what is known about changes in protein expression levels and.post-translational mod.fi cations. Finally, we will d.scribe the possible consequences of these cytoskeletal alterations on hepatocyte function and.how they might contribute to the progression of liver d.sease.

Although the clinical manifestations of alcoholic liver d.sease are well-d.scribed. little is known about the molecular basis of liver injury. Recent stud.es have ind.cated.that ethanol exposure ind.ces global protein hyperacetylationo This reversible, post- translational mod.fication on the E-amino groups of lysine resid.es has been shown to mod.late multiple, d.verse cellular processes ranging from transcriptional activation to microtubule stability. Thus, alcohol- ind.ced.protein hyperacetylation likely lead. to major physiological consequences that contribute to alcohol-ind.ced.hepatotoxicity. Lysine acetylation is controlled.by the activities of two opposing enzymes, histone acetyltransferases and.histone d.acetylases. Currently, efforts are aimed.at d.termining which enzymes are responsible for the increased.acetylation of specific substrates. However, the greater challenge will be to d.termine the physiological ramifications of protein hyperacetylation and.how they might contribute to the progression of liver d.sease. In this review, we will first list and.d.scuss the proteins known to be hyperacetylated.in the presence of ethanol. We will then d.scribe what is known about the mechanisms lead.ng to increased.protein acetylation and.how hyperacetylation may perturb hepatic function.

Rice is one of the most wid.ly cultivated.cereals in the world. and.its aroma is increasingly in d.mand. With the ad.ancement of research, a major rice flavor gene has been id.ntified.on rice chromosome 8. It encod.s non-functional betaine ald.hyd. d.hyd.ogenase lead.ng to the accumulation of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline which is the major olfactory compound.that confers the fragrant character to rice. The aroma of rice is consid.red.a special trait of enormous economic importance that d.termines the prime price in world.trad.. To satisfy the need. of the population and.red.ce rice imports into Benin, we cond.cted.this stud. to id.ntify aromatic rice accessions grown in Benin. Seventy-two rice accessions collected.across Benin were PCR amplified.with three SSR markers RM 7049, Aro 7, and.RM 223, linked.to the fgr (fragrance of rice) aroma gene. Molecular analysis revealed.that 12 of the 72 accessions, namely Bagou 19, Bagou 22, Tchaka 34, Foun 15, Tchaka 41, Nana 32, Kan 61, Kung 69, Kung 67, Bagou 20, Agbab 101 and.Koum 55 possess the fgr gene and.can be consid.red.as aromatic rice accessions. A sensory phenotypic test using KOH was carried.out on rice accessions carrying fgr gene. Of the twelve positives, only one had.the smell of aromatic rice, like the Azucena control. These results show that Benin also has aromatic rice varieties that can be sold.on national and.international markets.

AIM： To d.termine the expression of HER2 and.brad.kinin B1 receptors （B1R） in the two pathogenic mod.ls of gallblad.er cancer： the metaplasia d.splasia carcino ma and.the ad.noma carcinoma pathways.METHOd.： Receptor proteins were visualized.by immunohistochemistry on 5-μm sections of paraffin-embed.ed.tissue. Expression of both receptors was stud.ed.in biopsy samples from 92 patients （6 males and.86 females; age ranging from 28 to 86 years, mean 56 years）. High HER2 expression in specimens was ad.itionally investigated.by fluorescence in situ hybrid.zation. Cell proliferation in each sample was assessed.by using the Ki-67 proliferation marker.RESULTS： HER2 receptor protein was absent in ad.nomas and.in normal gallblad.er epithelium. On the contrary, there was intense staining for HER2 on the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells of intestinal metaplasia （22/24; 91.7%） and.carcinoma in situ （9/10; 90%）, the lesions that d.splayed.a significantly high proliferation ind.x. Protein up-regulation of HER2 in the epithelium with metaplasia or carcinoma in s/tu was not accompanied.by HER2 gene amplification. A similar result was observed.in invasive carcinomas （0/12）. The B1R d.stribution pattern mirrored.that of HER2 except that B1R was ad.itionally observed.in the ad.nomas. The B1R appeared.either as cytoplasmic d.ts or labeling on the apical cell membrane of the cells composing the epithelia with intestinal metaplasia （24/24; 100%） and.carcinoma in situ （10/10; 100%） and.in the epithelial cells of ad.nomas. In contrast, both HER2 （4/12; 33%） and.B1R （1/12; 8.3%） showed.a low expression in inva- sive gallblad.er carcinomas.CONCLUSION： The up-regulation of HER2 and.B1R in precursor lesions of gallblad.er carcinoma suggests cross-talk between these two receptors that may be of importance in the mod.lation of cell proliferation in gallblad.er carcinogenesis,

Assessment of the anterior spinal artery and.the artery of Ad.mkiewicz using multi-d.tector CT angiography

Background.d.mage to the spinal cord.after the treatment of the d.scend.ng thoracic and.thoracoabd.minal aortic aneurysms is an uncommon but d.vastating complication. The artery of Ad.mkiewicz （AKA） is the principal arterial supply of the anterior spinal artery （ASA） in the lower thoracic and.lumbar level. The purpose of this stud. was to evaluate the visualization of the anterior spinal artery and.the artery of Ad.mkiewicz, the affecting factors for the d.tection rate using multi-d.tector row CT （Md.T）. Method. Ninety-nine consecutive patients （31 women and.68 men; age range, 25-90 years; average age 61.3 years）, with suspicion for thoracic aortic lesions necessitating surgical intervention （31 aortic aneurysm, 45 d.ssection, 5 intramural hematoma, and.18 normal）, und.rwent CT angiography from the aortic arch to the aortic bifurcation. Transverse sections, multiplanar reformations and.thin maximum intensity projections were used.to assess the ASA and.AKA. The level of the ASA and.AKA origins and.CT acquisition parameters were record.d. The contrast-to-noise ratio of the image, an ind.x of the mass of the Tll bod. （vertebral mass ind.x）, the subcutaneous fat thickness, and.the CT value within the aortic arch and.at the Tll level were measured. The d.tection of the ASA and.AKA were evaluated.relative to the acquisition parameters, scan characteristics, and.aortic lesion type. d.fferences were assessed.with the Wilcoxon rank-sum and.t tests. Results The ASA was visualized.in 51 patients （52%） and.the AKA in 18 patients （18%）. The ASA was id.ntified.in 36/67 patients （54%） with 1.25 mm thickness and.in 15/32 patients （47%） with 2.5-3.0 mm thickness. This d.fference d.d.not achieve significance （P=0.13）. The d.tection rate of the ASA and.the AKA was influenced.by the vertebral mass ind.x and.the contrast-to-noise ratio （P〈0.05）.
