KOH activated carbon derived from biomass-banana fibers as an efficient negative electrode in high performance asymmetric supercapacitor

Here we demonstrate the fabrication, electrochemical performance and application of an asymmetric supercapacitor (AS) device constructed with ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWCNTs as positive electrode and KOH activated honeycomb-like porous carbon (K-PC) derived from banana fibers as negative electrode. Initially, the electrochemical performance of hydrothermally synthesized ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWCNTs nanocomposite and K-PC was studied in a three-electrode system using 1 M KOH. These materials exhibited a specific capacitance (Cs) of 1327 Fig and 324 F/g respectively at a scan rate of 10 mv/s. Further, the AS device i.e., ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWCNTs// K-PC in 1 M KOH solution, demonstrated a Cs of 156 F/g at scan rate of 10 mv/s in a broad cell voltage of 0-2.2 v. The device demonstrated a good rate capability by maintaining a Cs of 59 F/g even at high current density (25 A/g). The device also offered high energy density of 63 Wh/kg with maximum power density of 5.2 kW/kg. The AS device exhibited excellent cycle life with 100% capacitance retention at 5000th cycle at a high current density of 25 A/g. Two AS devices connected in series were employed for powering a pair of LEDs of different colors and also a mini fan. Chronic pancreatitis(CP)continues to be a clinical *** or recurrent abdominal pain is the most compelling symptom that drives patients to seek medical ***,in spite of using several treatment approaches in the clinical setting,there is no single specific treatment modality that can be earmarked as a cure for this ***,ductal hypertension has been associated with causation of pain in CP;and patients are often subjected to endotherapy and surgery with a goal to decompress the pancreatic *** studies on humans(clinical and laboratory based)and experimental models have put forward several mechanisms,including neuroimmune alterations,which could be responsible for *** might explain the partial or no response to single modality treatment in a significant proportion of *** current review discusses the recent concepts of pain generation in CP and evidence based therapeutic approaches(other than ductal decompression)to handle persistent or recurrent *** focus primarily on parenchymal and neural components;and discuss the role of antioxidants and the existing controversies,drugs that interfere with neural transmission,pancreatic enzyme supplementation,celiac neurolysis,and pancreatic resection *** review concludes with the treatment approach that we follow at our institute.

Aim:To analyze the role of cytosolic glutathione S-transferases (cGSTs) and membrane-associated cytosolic GSTs (macGSTs) in prostaglandin biosynthesis and to evaluate the possible interaction between glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) and cyclooxygenase (COX) in ***:SDS-PAGE analysis was undertaken for characterization of GSTs,thin layer chromatography (TLC) to monitor the effect of GSTs on prostaglandin biosynthesis from arachi- donic acid (AA) and spectrophotometric assays were done for measuring activity levels of COX and ***: SDS-PAGE analysis indicates that macGSTs have molecular weights in the range of 25-28 *** a coupled assay involving GSTs,arachidonic acid and cyclooxygenase-1,rat testicular macGSTs produced prostaglandin E2 and F2~, while the cGSTs caused the generation of prostaglandin D2,E2 and F_(2α).In vitro interaction studies on GSTs and COX at the protein level have shown dose-dependent inhibition of COX activity by macGSTs and vice *** effect, however,is not seen with *** inhibitory effect of COX on macGST activity was relieved with increasing concentrations of reduced glutathione (GSH) but not with 1-chloro 2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB).The inhibition of COX by macGSTs,on the other hand,was potentiated by ***:We isolated and purified macGSTs and cGSTs from rat testis and analyzed their involvement in prostaglandin *** studies reveal a revers- ible functional interaction between macGSTs and COX in vitro,with possible interactions between them at the GSH binding site of macGSTs.

This paper presents various approaches used by researchers for handling the uncertainties involved in renewable energy sources, load demands, etc. It gives an idea about stochastic programming (SP) and discusses the formulations given by different researchers for objective functions such as cost, loss, generation expansion, and voltage/v control with various conventional and advanced methods. Besides, it gives a brief idea about SP and its applications and discusses different variants of SP such as recourse model, chance constrained programming, sample average approximation, and risk aversion. Moreover, it includes the application of these variants in various power systems. Furthermore, it also includes the general mathematical form of expression for these variants and discusses the mathematical description of the problem and modeling of the system. This review of different optimization techniques will be helpful for smart grid development including renewable energy resources (rErs).

Determination of genotoxic alkyl methane sulfonates and alkyl paratoluene sulfonates in lamivudine using hyphenated techniques

Two highly sensitive methods for the determination of genotoxic alkyl methane sulfonates (AMSs) and alkyl paratoluene sulfonates (APTSs) in lamivudine using hyphenated techniques have been presented. AMSs were determined by GC-MS method using GSBPINOWAX (30 m 0.25 mm 0.25 mm) column. Temperature program was set by maintaining at 100 1C initially for 3 min, then rised to 220 1C at the rate of 15 1C/min and maintained at 220 1C for 16 min. N,N-dimethyl formamide was used as diluent. APTSs were determined by LC-MS using Zorbax, rx C8, 250 mm 4.6 mm, 5 mm column as stationary phase. 0.01 M ammonium acetate is used as buffer. The mixture of buffer and methanol in 75:25 (v/v) ratio was used as mobile phase A and mixture of buffer and methanol in 5:95 (v/v) ratio was used as mobile phase B. The gradient program (T/%B) was set as 0/28, 16/50, 17/100, 23/100, 27/28 and 40/28. Both the methods were validated as per International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. Limit of quantitation was found 1.5 mg/mL for AMSs and was in the range of 1.0-1.5 mg/mL for APTSs.
